Baffling that Jake Roberts never held a single title during his time with WWF. He's one name on a VERY short list that can have a career that legitimately impacted the business & changed the way things work (for better or worse) without ever touching gold during the height of his career. THAT is a legend.

I’d have to imagine it’s a product of the four PPV a year (or less) era. If they were doing 12 a year with weekly cable shows like today, probably all those guys (Roberts, Perfect, Rude, DiBiase) get some time with a strap.

Incidently, I met Stu during WrestleMania 13. I'd also met Bret many times before and I also met Diana. I couldn't help but notice one thing that they had in common: they had super strong handshakes! I met Stu once with Helen(may they rest in peace). He was very pleasant and definitely not emotionless. I still remember that he had a strong handshake which had me realize that this was something that ran in the Hart family--not that it's a bad thing. I'd met Bret many times and once I met his sister Diana and experienced those handshakes prior to having met him. I used to think that sometimes the wrestlers tended to forget their own strength.

You missed a BIG one! How did you miss the legendary multiple time WWF and WCW World Heavyweight Champion "Macho Man" Randy Savage, the son of wrestler Angelo Poffo? Regarding Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Curt "Mr. Perfect" Henning never being WWF Champion, Jake didn't need it, and Hogan had a stranglehold on the belt at that time.

@@JacksonOwex I only got back into wrestling less than two years ago, so I didn't see their WhatCulture stuff when it happened, but the overall quality has skyrocketed. Not just in how together everyone is, but as a brand that respects good quality content and not "lazy" and easy videos to pump out. For me, I enjoyed WhatCulture when getting back into wrestling, but the sheer amount of editing errors, bias against certain wrestlers, presenters either being horrendously dull or absolutely unbearable, and just how generic and forced their content feels, Cultaholic from everything apart from subscriber total, is miles better than WhatCulture. All that is of course excluding Simon, we all love him.

Hennig, Roberts, DiBiase are such strong characters that they never really needed any titles to have an impact in the program. I think that is what's missing in wrestling now - people who can put "butts in seats" on the strength of their character work that being in a program with them is similar to being in a world title program already.

@@alexa5675 Uh… Stone Cold vs The Rock WrestleMania 17 (and 19) and Hogan vs The Rock WrestleMania 18 aren’t classics? As well as underrated matches like The Rock vs Kurt Angel No Way Out 2001 and Rock n Sock Connection vs Undertaker and Big Show werent good matches? Lets be real, The Rock is a good wrestler, talker, and could sell out arenas. How is he just “solid” especially since he helped define one of if not the greatest era in Wrestling? Genuine question.

If they ever make a movie about Matthew McConaughey has to play Jake the Snake Roberts I know I know they made a movie about him already it's called the wrestler

The Wrestler was a movie about a wrestler coming to terms with life after wrestling and stepping back in the ring for a last shot at glory . The main character was Randy The Ram Robinson played by Mickey Rourke . There are cameo appearances by R Truth , Cesaro and Eric Young . I have this on DVD . There is a documentary about Jake The Snake called Pick Your Poison . However I think a biopic about Jake would be interesting and McConaughey would be a good choice to play Jake .

Good shout, probably the biggest gap between first and second generation. Most of the fathers mentioned had at least some success whilst Carmella's Dad probably didn't win a single match in WWE.

@@seankelly4594 macho was all around better than both of them. And did everything they did: athlete before wresting, great/classic matches, world championships in different orgs, made the IC belt prestigious for a whole new generation, great promos, movies, tv, live main event loops, he was a top $ draw, wrestlemania main events, wrestled Bruno, Flair, Dusty and Hogan FIRST...BEFORE Rock and Bret and his fathers fed was an outlaw fed so it was never a gurantee he would be signed to a major. He didnt have the direct to WWE pipelines Hart and Rock had. Savage is the most complete sports entertainer in the last 40 years and could definitely defeat both of them in his prime, no doubt. Hes accomplished more than them both from start to finish in that business.
