I call the last time that my chinchillas got out "the night at the living museum" since they played around my things for about 10 hours one night until I arrived home in the morning to lock them up. The most funny part of the story to me is that when they urinate, I choose a steel litter pan. I replace these silver, metal pans as time bears on. That being said, my chins whilst on the lose chose to urinate on my silver metal dell laptop. ;)

I use fleece liners for my boy. I’m trying to litter train him though. I’ve been keeping the pans lined with puppy pads to make cleanup easier and also be able to pay attention to where he pees the most. Plus if there is a sudden chance in color or anything it’s easy to spot as well!

Yes the liners that I have. Have an absorbent layer sewed into the center of the liner. I have seen people who also use towels underneath the liner. I can give you some potty training tips that I have noticed and have seen other people use. First I would put the litter box in a corner to start and put something to block every other corner so they must use that one corner. Chinchillas tend to like using corners but not all. Next I would put used bedding in the litter box as well as hay. For wat ever reason they like peeing in their hay. I have also seen ppl disinfect a smooth rock and place that in the litterbox. This kinda acts like a toilet in a sense of it's something to hold on to.

Thank you sooo much! I really love standards but have never had boys before! I have owned chinchillas for about 7 or 8 years now and just have slowly accumulated the amount of cages/chinchillas/stuff. Haha! Right now I own 5 chinchillas. One pair, one single, and two others waiting to be bonded. Let me know if you have any questions or anything you would be interested in me creating a video on!

Wait a minute… For that cat litter box, dust bath thing. isn’t it made out of plastic! So what’s stopping the chinchilla from nibbling on it and eating it and getting sick and dying??? 😅

I do not have one of these litter boxes so I do not know for sure, but do know that these are popularly used as dust baths for chinchillas.

I'm a new chinchilla owner, had her about 4 months. I let her out 1-2 times a day. She kept getting in my closet and chewing my shoes.. and silly me, I thought shutting the door would keep her out. With all that fluff, she looks a lot bigger than she is I guess, but she is able to flatten out and get under a 1 inch gap under the door. She is such a brat, but I love her to death

My chinchilla LOVES to be under my bed and stake out there for 40 mins at a time!

I have a cage similar to the critter nation one but the top door is smaller than the bottom. My chinchilla is too much of a coward to jump from the second story tho so I always keep it open like a window. He loves to grab treats and sit and watch me clean my room etc.

I tried the dust back a while back before watching this vid, my chin got scared and ended up being scared of the bath for a while
@ChinVillain3 жыл бұрын
Wow... I'm sorry about that! You could mayb try to take it a bit slower and just get them use to having the hole covered while not moving them and slowly work up to transporting them with a dust bath. Each chinchilla is different so you just may need to alter some things to make them most comfortable.

My chinchilla escaped when she was in the bathroom l didn’t see the gap behind the bath… l have 3 cellars so l thought she must be down there somewhere. Everyday l went down there put clean water and fresh hay and called her after 3 days l really thought l had lost her…. I went down as usuall calling her nothing…. Just turned to walk away when l heard a noise and looked behind me when she came running towards me and let me pick her up…. I think she was scared and so pleased to see me….. the next few days she didn’t want to come out of her cage… now she is back to her normal mischief self🤪😱
