Nice to see some WCW love. Too many people remember how badly it ended while forgetting, or never knowing, how good it was in the early 90s. Some fond memories watching with my dad that made me a lifelong wrestling fan.

The initial nWo days were great too, I wish nWo was only Hogan, Nash and Hall (and maybe Ted because he was the Kayfabe investor of nWo) and not the entire WCW roster.

He was a better worker in his Stunning days. But that's not surprising, he was five years younger and didn't have the neck and knee issues that would occur in the WWE. It's not really a fair comparison, because when Stone Cold got popular was when he had to learn to work around his injuries.

@@timwright3218 Exactly. When he came over to WWF as The Ringmaster, he had the same skillset at Stunning Steve. The neck injury is what super slowed him down, and the knee issues just made it worse. It's not at all fair to say Stunning Steve was better than Stone Cold because there are extra variables at work at this point. He literally couldn't do what he used to be able to do. It had nothing to do with being held back by the company or anything.

People always forget the fact that Tyson was getting absolutely BODIED by Holyfield in their 97 rematch, just like he did in the first fight a year prior. The bite was more or less a cop out for getting whooped. Had he gutted it out and got k.o'd in round 7 or 8 or so.... Would WCW really pay good money to get him on their tv? Fun fact to correlate, Tyson was supposed to work for Vince in like 89 before he lost to Buster Douglas. Some kind of guest referee angle like he worked at 14. After he lost, Vince decided he wanted Buster Douglas for the spot since it should be the world champ. I figure something similar would've happened.

No they wouldn't, or at least not with that level of roster. Vince was coming for everybody. Going National actually helped them survive longer. Mismanaging the boom period is what did them in.

I loved early 90s WCW. Sting is/was/always will be my GOAT in pro wrestling. As much as I dig Crow Sting, Surfer Sting was always fun. He bounced around like a Superball.

The only reason I enjoyed Crow Sting is because I loved Surfer Sting. The transformation during the buzz of NWO made him equally popular. It was kind of like a Spiderman vs The Sinister Six thing going on.

I just learned recently that Sting was addicted to pain pills and booze during at least some of the early Crow Sting days. Especially during the period around the time where he repelled from the helicopter in Florida.

AJ Styles was actually offered a WWE development deal after WCW folded but turned it down to work the Indies and eventually TNA on it's formation Worked out for him 😊😊

Late 80's early 90s WCW was awesome. That's when I started watching wrestling, and I was a kid then. Without it and WWF as it was known at the time. I don't think I would be as big of a fan as I am now.

I was introduced to AJ Styles during his WCW run. In fact, I stopped watching wrestling some time after that. I was hearing his name here and there, but had no idea he accomplished so much. And yes, WCW was better than the F for most of the 90s up until '98.

Why do those last two not shock me at all. I am sure the whole Monday Night Wars thing did the most damage to WCW in terms of content and Ted Turners willingness to keep going. For all we know Ted had "Drinks" with Vince and he laid out his plans to make it "Better" Maybe he promised Ted all the TV rights to WWE if he "Helped" bury WCW. Bishof was too quick to try and keep up with WWE. He had PHENOMENAL Talent thanks to Vinces mismanagement(Sound familar...cough, AEW, cough), plus home grown greats like Sting, they were good wrestlers who did not have to stoop to things like throwing each other off of cages. But the more Grisly WWF got, the more he blinked. The day Vince swooped in and absorbed WCW and turned it into WWFs whipping post is the day Vinces head swelled like a Watermelon and got us to where we are now. He needed that competition to keep WWF fresh and innovative. WE needed the proper competition to allow us to demand good story-lines and interesting promos and characters. Not who is going to "ACKNOWLEDGE" and job to the WWE Champion THIS week. Or who is the hulking Part Timer going to decimate this week? We had things like the NWO and the Ministry of Darkness to chose from! Now we're TOLD a bunch of good wrestlers jobbing to a plank of wood every week is 'THE GREATEST STORY-LINE IN THE HISTORY OF STORY-LINES". Not hardly. The big Secret about WCW is the one we'll never be told. How it was sabotaged, probably for some hefty money, because VINCE couldn't handle the competition.

The team of Disco Inferno and Das Wunderkind Alex Wright were dubbed by Tony Schiavone as the Dancing Fools. Let's also remember that WCW also had Great Muta and Terry Funk at times in the early 90s, and they made history whey they put the world heavyweight championship on Ron Simmons making him the first African American to win a world heavyweight championship in wrestling.

To say stunning is better stone cold shows you do not understand prowrestling, sorry it's just a silly comment, stone cold was the better work because he was more in tune with the audience when Frank Gotch was a great technical wrestler he was in tune with the audience.
