I will tell you the only way to be truly prepared for passing your NASM CPT test the first time is to study hard. I’m 56, and I took my test over 12 years ago. Passed it the first time, but I was worried I hadn’t. Any NASM certifications you choose to specialize in is no different. You must read and truly study the materials fully or risk a re-test. I passed my test the first time, and I have passed every specialization certification test on my first attempt, since becoming a trainer. Taking each certification should be taken as seriously as possible, as every person we train is different. Know your literature and study it and you will pass. Don’t be arrogant and think you will just pass. Be humble and take the time to read, practice, and study the materials. Use others advice that might help you too!!!

4:17, you show the power phase using 1-20 reps. This is false. NASM book states 10-15 for power flexibility and 8-12 for Core, balance and plyometric.

Uhhh.... that chart of the OPT model you have at 4:24 is definitely *NOT* in the book.... the only way that chart lines up is if the question is regarding the RESISTANCE aspect of that phase only, which you do not specify here.... The Flexibility, Core, Balance, Plyo, and SAQ aspects of the 5 phases are all different than whats depicted here on this chart...

I passed all of the Nasm quizzes from each chapter, all 90-100 percent. Study guide and practice exam quizzes passed with 80 percent and higher. Does that mean that I'm ready to take the test? I only read some of the book but my retention for reading isn't that good.

There are a couple of trainers at my gym that are older. They have primarily older clients, but they can connect with them easier than a younger trainer can, as they understand what getting older is like. If it is something you want to do, I say go for it!

I studied all 500 index cards and only 2 of the index cards were on the test exam. What a waste. The practice exam too were little to no help. 90 percent of the questions that’s on the exam are scattered in the book mentioned only once with little importance hidden between a bunch of carried out definitions that’s not going to be on the exam

I wouldn't replace reading through the chapters entirely, but the chapter reviews are a great way to see how the material is summarized. Follow up with identifying what is covered in the domains and you're all set!
