I failed the first try by 4 points 🙄😒 but couldn't really be mad because I spent so much time writing notes and unnecessary stuff. I have to set my test date again. What I realized that all you really need is that study guide. I saw a heart KZbin video that broke down how the heart works and that helped me know everything about the heart on the exam. Videos and study guide is my point of view. I'm ready to pass this test now.

You totally got this, Page!!! ❤️💪 Once you are getting 80-90 percent correct on most of the test exams you are GOOD to go! And try not to get overwhelmed with all of the stuff - you will get very far by just understanding the basics. And honestly, implementing the concepts to your own training routine will make it much easier & faster to learn. Do the assessments on yourself and pretend to have different compensation issues. Locate muscles in your own body and understand during your own training what specifically they do ( when are they short and when are they long) - so much easier than just trying to memorize words when you actually know it in your own body!! ❤️💪

@EmeliaSylte4 жыл бұрын
Lol welcome to the number dyslexic club🤷♀️😅! Congrats on signing up - that’s awesome!! So in general I want to say it’s mainly about understanding it, and you should be fine. Besides the specifics on the OHS assessments ( def know how that’s all connected and which muscle weakness/overactive-ness causes what “issue “ during the squat assessment. For the dang acute variables which is a 92648826267## nightmare 😂🙄 I think try to just get the overall understanding or just make sure to have enough time to practice so you can create your own workout program. I actually think a smart thing to do ( which I only did on myself but should’ve done on others too) is to actually design a workout program for a few clients - easier way of learning! I’m kind of avoiding your question cuz it’s both I think. Certain things were very much “as long as you understand it you’ll be fine”, but other things were more specific. Like just remembered now a question I had on one of the meds mentioned for people with one of the health issues ( can’t remember if it was heart or whatever) but they asked what the medicine was called that had whatever function on the clients heart/lung. So that was a specific question on the name of the medicine. But on the other hand, if you read through all of the module summaries a few times and make sure to go over the domain summaries as well ( just cuz it’s gonna connect the overall understanding more), you will most likely understand the concept, perhaps even know the answer or at least be pretty certain what alternatives it’s not. Cuz thank gosh it’s multiple choice test!! You can def be lucky and get some weird alternatives making it easier to “guess” which one is the correct answer ( if you have an overall understanding of how the body works and have read through summaries). Not sure if this answers your question, but hopefully it’s helpful! Let me know 🌞

Hey Nan! Congrats on starting your journey. It’s a lot to navigate through for sure, but the guided study should be super helpful. Nasm CPT pocket prep for sure, NASM CPT exam prep, NASM PES pocket prep, NASM CPT practice test, fitness pocket prep and NASM CPT Test Prep 2018 - I got all of them. I cannot remember which exactly I spent more time on, but perhaps play around with them all. I believe whichever ended up being my favorite also offered a paid service for like $30 ish something for full access to all questions. I did not spend the money to upgrade but remember thinking it was an option. Wishing you best of luck, and let me know how it goes 🌞❤️

Thank you! This video is extremely helpful. About how many hours day/week would you study? Overall how long did you study until you took your exam?
@EmeliaSylte4 жыл бұрын
Hi love! So happy to hear the video was helpful. If I remember correctly ( I think I mentioned it in the video or in some of the comments below, I just can’t remember exactly anymore..) I think I signed up early February and exam was first weekend in May, so perhaps 4 months total. I took off 2-3 weeks from studying during this time. I wanna say I varied between some days studying all day (6-8h) and other days 0-2h. It was a bit inconsistent, and also I was very scared of not passing so I definitely overstudied. But also, keep in mind I came from a background of very little fitness knowledge and with the language barrier too, the process took much longer than it needed to. So In other words, it might be a little hard to compare my study hours to what you might need. Wishing you all the best of luck on your exam and let me know how it goes 🌞❤️

Hey!! Thanks for watching my video 🤗I ended up going through ProctorU which was my only option. I did my exam in the very beginning of Covid lockdowns so I think NASM was still trying to figure out how this whole online-thing was gonna work. I heard someone else did proctorU recently but did not need to purchase the $30 dummy, so I’m not sure how this still goes. When I signed up, I had to call NASM to let them know I was doing the exam online and I told them I needed my CPR AED and asked for help as everything was shut down, which is how they connected me to ProctorU and signed me up there. Hope this help!! 🥰Wishing you the best of luck on your exam!!

also how many questions will be from the chapter reviews? 90% or ? thank you so much, because those detailed long words are my biggest headache.
@EmeliaSylte4 жыл бұрын
Hm. This one is hard to answer - every exam will be very different as they rotate questions for every test. So you can be lucky and get a bunch from chapter review or unlucky, I suppose. I want to say that I got about 10-20 questions very similar to chapter quizzes ( if not identical). So yeah, No guarantee on this, but I think my overall tip is to just make sure you understand all concepts from the domain reviews and then you should be fine on the exam even if you don’t remember specific long words ++ ( trust me - that was my problem too!😅). So spend most of your time making sure you understand the concepts 🌞. Best of luck on your exam and let me know how it goes!!! 🔥😊

Hey!! That’s exactly what I did. I got the book like a year before - glancing through it I was like “no way am I doing this exam”, but thankfully took the change following year. The book is overwhelming for sure but when signing up for the course they have a great way of helping you get through the material and see what’s more important. I got the book used on Amazon! Another alternative is to go on NASMs website and see if they have a 3-day free trial of the course. Not sure if they have it going now, but I know they often do it! 🌞 Hope this helps !! Hey! Thanks so much for checking out the video. Honestly, I tried the riddle on the muscles but I just ended up with all of these bad once making the whole thing even more complicated. For me, I ended up splitting a week into different compensations. Like Monday: feet coming out. Tuesday: knees caving in. Wednesday: low back arch -ect. Then I spent some time during each day pretending to have that compensation like on Monday I would imagine to have feet coming out, and then I would stretch the overactive muscles and strengthen the under active muscles. That was how I learned the muscles ! Hopefully this can help you out!! But keep me posted if you come across any cool riddles that I can share with whoever comes across my KZbin. @EmeliaSylte4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching my video - and so glad to hear you liked it! So basically all of the chapters or modules in the book gets split into domains. It’s 5-6 domains in the book but like 21 modules. It’s organized this way to make it easier to make sense of the book as a whole rather than just individual chapters. So on your student page, once signed up for the nasm course, underneath all of the modules, there is a list of domains. Each domain comes with a summery, a podcast, a quiz. The podcast is about an hour long for each domain, and is extremely helpful. The same for the summary and the quiz. So def spend time looking over domains rather than focusing too much on chapters/modules. Hope this is helpful and answers your question 🌞💙

Hello, I’m not sure if you know, but is NASM back doing in person exams or not. I was just wondering how you can use the remote option or if I have to choose to take the exam in person at a college.

Hey Ebony, I’m actually not sure if they are back to live exams or not. My guess is they are doing both and you’ll have the option to decide what’s best for you ( hope that’s the case). Question : they have cpt and nutrition coach bundle. So u think thats worth it or just get the cpt ?
@EmeliaSylte3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I think it depends on your personal preference. The nasm CPT will cover basic nutrition and as a personal trainer you’re not allowed to write nutritional plans / diets for clients besides giving general recommendation and tips - in order to legally write diets / supplements you need to be a dietitian or doctor, so technically even being a nutrition coach would not make it possible for you to write diets. I do know there are some differences from each US state so perhaps check the state you live in first? Personally, I find nutrition very interesting and I think you as a personal trainer certainly can charge a bit more with the credentials of being a nutrition coach, so if I were to pick again and had the cash I might’ve done the bundle. But make a few searches out there, read about what you’re legally ok to do / what benefits you as a trainer will have if you have both credentials and decide based on that. Especially with all the free info that’s available for you online. Let me know what you end up doing!! And best of luck 🥰💪

where did you get your CPR/AED certification?
@EmeliaSylte4 жыл бұрын
I got it from ProTrainings. Not sure if NASM is still using them or if they have changed policy since I did my exam early May, but I basically called NASM and they signed me up for ProTrainings. After receiving the online CPR/AED card, it took about 4-5 days before I got the real card in mail which they will ask to see on the day of your remote exam. My ProTrainings certification lasts 2 years, but I have seen some very recent updates on NASMs webpage where it seems like you might need to go to a physical location to redo CPR/AED once your state opens up. (So I would recommend ask NASM when you call to schedule your ProTraining class.) However, I’ve not personally been informed by this by NASM so I’m gonna assume my CPR/AED card is gonna be legit for the 2 years I have it for. Hope this is helpful!! 🥰🙏 Best of luck!

I am fresher like you, I am planning to take too , I hope I will be able to study , is it ok if I study 1.5 hours a days regularly to clear. And was your exam tough ? I am concerned about science words and exams! Make some more videos what helped you clear it can be motivating factor
@EmeliaSylte3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I’m sure you’ll be perfectly fine. I really feel like once you’re taking a lot of the test exams and you are not having a hard time understanding the science words and specific language, you should be perfectly fine. But I did spend a lot of time in the beginning just literally looking up words I didn’t know the meaning of, and simple concepts I struggled to understand, I really spent time with and read the “ xx for dummies” or “XX explained simple” until I finally got it. Sometimes I just have a hard time reading very “wordy stuff” and I need to either see it or hear it - more of a visual learner I suppose. So I guess what I’m trying to say, just extra spend time in the beginning really learning the basics / core of the concepts you’re struggling with and everything else will also get easier. I know it might feel like a waste of time learning all of the first few chapters of how the body works ( like cardiovascular system ++) but for me it really helped spending a lot of time on the basics and foundations so that I could follow the text in laster chapters. I really did not feel like it was the worst exam. I think I remember thinking once I had the questions in front of me “ok, I got this! “, so I really mean it when I say, if you’re getting a good score on average when doing the tests exams, you should be fine!! And yes, much better to set a side 1-2h a day over a longer period so that you’re giving your brain time to process it all rather than doing a “7 day no sleep read all day”-kind of thing ( in my option). I hope this help! And I wish you the very best of luck on your exam and with your study! Take your time, go slowly through the rough parts until it makes sense! ❤️🥰💪
