Thank you for saying that we need to focus on basic survival budget, and if we have extra spending cash only then to splurge on shopping deals. Means a lot to hear from an influencer. You are amazing, and so different from others.

Good tips, Josie! And I totally agree about shopping alone. I actually never shop with others. When I shop I'm on a mission and want to do it a my pace without wasting time looking at stuff that I've no interest in. And I really don't want to worry that I'm dragging someone else around where they don't want to go.

It does take time and effort to make good deals on black friade but it's so worth it, if you're just prepared and you stick to your list you CAN save money but if you don't you will 100% end up loosing money. You are so right about practicing self control because it doesn't matter if that neon bag will "never" be on sale again, you don't want it, you don't need it, you won't get it! 😄

Sorry my comments tend to be longer, I don't originally plan for them to be. Love this video and wish I had some of this knowledge a few years ago lol. I am legitimately a recovering shopaholic (unfortunately) and have the mounds of credit card debit to prove it. Black Friday is always one of the hardest times of the year for me, as I was so used to buying whatever I wanted (which unfortunately was a lot of very expensive items within a short period of time), so it's still very hard for me to try to limit myself and try to get it through my head that I can not buy everything I want and will likely never be able to buy everything I want. Also I'm weird and different in the fact that when I was shopping non- stop and making many impulse purchases of very high priced items I never regretted purchasing and still don't regret it. The unfortunate thing is that instead of "buyer's remorse" I experienced rather severe "non- buyer's remorse," (I know that's probably not an actual term but I don't know what else to call it) where I will fall into somewhat of a depressed mood for days even weeks after not buying an item I wanted even if I couldn't afford it. You definitely have much more self control and shopping smarts than me, but I was wondering if you have ever had a feeling of "non-buyer's remorse" (obviously not as long lasting as mine I'm sure lol)? There are actually two impulse purchases that I made years ago that are probably my favorite wardrobe items. One item is a Cholé Drew Bijuo that I got a little over 50% off, as the design was a more "trendy" design but it actually turned into one of my favorite pieces, even though I originally only bought it because it was a Chloé purse and I didn't care what the design was I just wanted to be able to say I own a Chloé purse. And my favorite item in my wardrobe that I will never sell and probably be buried in (lol), is the first designer item I had ever purchased (also an impulse purchase) is a pair of pink Jimmy Choo Swarovski crystal embellished heels 😍 For awhile I was too afraid to wear them out, then after watching some of your videos talking about getting price per wear out of your items. I decided to start wearing them out and not let $600 go to waste. Now I wear them as often as I can and always get compliments on them which feels nice lol. So after rambling forever on your comment section 🤦🏻♀️ I just want to let you know that your videos are very informative and have helped me out... although your videos also do make me want to buy almost everything you own too, so it that sense they are not as helpful lol 🛍🙂

Happy Birthday for yesterday, Josie! Love your fashion vlogs although I cannot purchase any of your suggestions. You do, however, guide my appearance thinking. I do sometimes think you are wrong in suggestiing that you select lifetime pieces. I have a wardrobe of lovely more expensive pieces but my lifestyle has changed as I have aged. Layering with tees and sweaters with black trousers or jeans does very nicely for my sewing clubs and classes....! 🤗

I thought you were going to say you haven't made any impulse purchases.. but there you go! Because you said you haven't had any impulse purchase which have given you back the value for money! That was the lesson I am looking forward to hear from fashion influencers because I am quite careful when and what I get into my wardrobe but hell I love fashion 🤣 I dont buy things on impulse because if I do I end up regretting it in most of the cases! 🤣 Thanks for influencing people the pragmatic and practical way ❤️

I always fill up my basket full of items that I consider to be necessities for my wardrobe from my favorite brands well before the sale starts. I didn't go through and see which ones I need the most then immediately delete all of the rest. The main thing I don't do is fall for " there are only two left!". if I go back to buy it and it's not there it was never meant to be mine to begin with 🤔😂. I do agree with Josie on ditching dead weight. She didn't bat an eye or even laugh I think she was really serious 😂😂🥰❣️

This year I don't have the time to really take advantage of black friday but I hope that I will have the chance next year and armed with your advices it should be fun! Nevertheless I'm keeping an eye on a Ted Baker handbag now for a while (Jaelynn in pale pink). Actually the plan was originally to buy it for myself on my birthday but lets see what Ted Baker has to offer around black friday, could be an early present depending on the discount. Besides of the bag, there are a necklace, ear rings and a ring on Missoma that look pretty good together. Thank you for the early access Missoma-link, I'm curious how that will turn out.

I have a great tip for online shoppers. Before Black Friday- do it now- visit department stores and retailers and try on basic pieces from the brands you love. Write down the brand name and corresponding sizes (pants, tops, shoes). I keep a running list in my phone so I can look it up then order with confidence. And always look at the brand's size chart. If the online retailer doesn't have it, just google it before ordering, ie: "X-brand women's size chart."

Earlier sales, still more spending and larger earnings and profit for companies... O, herald the capitalism! Yes to no splurge/impulse spending. But I realized if I had a few things I wanted for days or weeks, first make a list of wants or needs (distinguish the two!) And also see what you recently got. It helps satisfying those unsatiated hunger for more shopping.

Some useful advice in this video; however, I would say that 'get there early' gets taken way too far in the US especially and people can lose a sense of perspective. Of course the origin of Black Friday is that it's the day after Thanksgiving and some people cut their holiday short to camp out in front of stores in the middle of the night. Ultimately there are things more important than beating everyone else for X percent off.

My favorite tip was to not overspend! If you are going in debt to buy beloved friends and family gifts, if they truly have your best interest at heart, they would be mortified to know they were adding to your financial burden or contributing to financial distress from buying over your budget! Maybe rethink the gifts you plan to give. Perhaps give them a gift certificate for cooking them dinner, cleaning their house, walking their dogs, detailing their car, or watching their kids while they have a date night. Not every gesture of love and friendship has to come from a store! I’m sure the retailers won’t appreciate my suggestions, but going in debt or paying ridiculous interest rates on credit cards is just not smart or savvy financial management!
