Tim, I always appreciate your style of video, presentation and perspective. I like the fact that there is little to no hype when you speak; no shouting, screaming and you punctuate your words. So many channels out there, when people speak, there is no pause. I also like the openness of how you portray yourself and your channel. You actually got me hyped on the sticker thing and it is still in my playbook, albeit a page or two behind. And yes, making KZbin videos is wayyy harder and more involved than people think, especially talking to the camera. Nice to get that validation.Anyhow, keep the videos coming!
@sgtouring10 ай бұрын
My favorite part about your videos is that they really do speak for themselves. There's none of that "KZbinr" voice or unnecessary enthusiasm just to hook people or get them engaged. You also don't spend minutes talking nonsense or telling people to like and subscribe. Just high quality, high value content!

Great ideas! If you’re looking for a side hustle, one thing I’ll encourage everyone to do is be ethical about what you’re doing and be honest about what you can provide. Ive been a business owner for a while and I’ve seen so many people with the mentality of accepting whatever they can get and figuring it out later, going on to provide a poor product. It doesn’t help to burn your reputation after you’ve barely started just because you wanted to make a quick buck.
@Icedanon10 ай бұрын
I would argue that putting out a quick prototype to test viability is a good idea. You don't have to be a master at what you do when you start. If you find your product is viable, you'll become a master at your craft over time as your business grows. You just need to make sure the customer knows what they are getting.

Amazing content, Tim. I had to subscribe immediately. I am doing dropshipping as a side hustle (started with almost nothing), and it's paying off really good last few months. Also AI tools help me so much (mainly chatgpt, but I am trying to incorporate others as well). Now after few months I have really good income from it that I have already quit my regular job xD. Consistency and hard work will always pay off at the end (with a lot of winnerzila of course. I love how their lifetime deal is amazing value).

We resell on both eBay and Amazon and we have built a business half way to 7 figures in revenue after doing it full time for only 6 years now. It can become more passive as you scale because you can hire people to list and ship for you

I think what many people get carried away with is thinking these side jobs (and they are jobs) will allow them to quit their main job and source of income. You really need to start off thinking of these as a way to close that money gap you may have between your paycheck and expenses. If all you need is $300-500 extra a month to take the pressure off then that is your real goal. Don’t get starry eyed about thinking you are going to replace your all your salary and be able to go sit on a beach somewhere. It’s a big jump between just earning a few hundred extra a month to help with bills and replacing your entire income. That is where I’ve seen most people fail at this. Yes you can grow it over time but that is a long term strategy you have to plan and work for. Keep your goals and expectations modest at first and you’ll have a better chance of success.

I can agree with you on the engraving business. The passiveness is not ideal. I was selling custom maps and other engraved products and you're working in your business more than working on your busness. There is a market to sell that is for sure. I was making around 1k a month but I think I was working around 80 hours a week building the frames and setting up the laser files printing ect. I am not looking to sell only digital files.

@IHeartPieGaming10 ай бұрын
Hey Tim, first time commenting - been loving the channel and advice you give! One thing I would love is if you could swap the metrics in the video for all of them to be either aligned to "low is good" or "high is good". Right now passiveness is "high is good" while the other 2 is "low is good" which is a teensy bit confusing when looking at it. Keep up the great work!
@TimKoa10 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'll have to do this next time. I actually tried doing the ratings like you said, but I confused myself while filming 😂. The thing is, if you're just starting, low startup costs & skills required could be considered "good", because it can help you get started fast. But as I've been doing this longer, I've seen that once a niche gets more saturated, something that has low startup costs & skills required creates an environment with a lot of competition, and may not be the best if you're looking to be in that niche long term. So it really depends on what you're looking for. But I do get a lot of comments saying my rating system is confusing, so I'll have to change it up somehow.

I think you could sell just about anything, Tim. I'd probably be rich by now if I had taken my random moments of exasperation and made it a pivotal point of finding a solution. For example; back in the day I was a college student and far from home and the long distance calls I was forced to make on a pay phone was aggravating but necessary. I whined that there must be a better way to make a long distance call. Voila! Pre-paid calling cards made someone else rich. You've inspired me to find my own side-hustle.

Thank you for the video! Great ideas! Made me think about creating my own YT channel. One thing I want to say about teaching something being only 1-2 steps ahead. It does not work for all areas of knowledge, only a few. It's great for teaching software, some crafts where you make things with your hands, and how to use tools or machinery (any kind). I've seen videos that teach how to knit one type of stitch with millions of views. They are great! Or videos that teach how to dye fabric, and how to assemble a 3D printer, how to do math - all great. This approach does NOT work for teaching languages, art (drawing, painting), psychology, etc. - these areas/fields are too vast and require a lot of learning of fundamentals and practice before you can do an adequate job. So, learning a few words and sentences in a foreign language will not make someone a good language teacher. Or, learning how to resolve a certain type of conflict with a person will not make someone a pro in all conflict resolution. Same for art and drawing: many people with very limited skills try to teach how to make art, but all fail (including their students who pay money). So, it's better to be ethical and teach something that could be useful for others and make their lives easier, not try to charge people for something you cannot provide.
