This is another video in the Biomedical Sciences Series
It covers 10 simple steps on how to get your HCPC registration on time without delay. I hope you find it useful in making your application and getting registered with the HCPC on time
The explanation in this video is similar to what is expected for all the professions regulated by HCPC
HCPC regulates 15 professions which are
Arts therapists
Biomedical scientists
Chiropodists/Podiatrists
Clinical scientists
Dietitians
Hearing aid dispensers
Occupational therapists
Operating department practitioners
Orthoptists
Paramedics
Physiotherapists
Practitioner psychologists
Prosthetists/Orthotists
Radiographers
Speech and language therapists.
If you are trained in any of these professions and would like to work in the UK , you can apply to HCPC to join the register which then allows you to work in the UK

Hello Emily, I hope you are doing fine, I have worked in 5 institutions since 2008, while writing my professional experience section should I mention all of them or the latest? Again there are only two forms issued, advise on how to document the information of the other three.

Hi mam, I have one doubt regarding with the HCPC application . After submitting the application how long does it take to get the registration as on regular basis and also im palning to start the process on september,could you please tell me that is there any Holidays during that time because during that time will it take more time for the process?

Hi Emily... Thank you for your information on HCPC registration. I am from India. I had done with a full-time Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology and a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technologist in distance education with 15+ years of experience. I would like to know that, for the registration do we need to submit the course syllabus in detail?. I had given by the college only course transcription, how many hours spent on each subject and mark sheets. Kindly do let me know that transcription without a syllabus, mark sheet and experience letters are sufficient to complete the HCPC process? In addition to that, do we need to submit an IELTS certificate though my first language is English?... I am waiting for your reply. Thank you.

Hello Emily, I have been practicing as a Laboratory Technologist with my Bsc Biological Sciences for 5yrs. But I have gone to do 2yrs top up to obtain a Bsc Medical laboratory Technology in 2020. However I am yet to sit for licence exam in my country. Am I eligible to apply for registration with HCPC?

Hi Lawrence. If you have been able to practice in your country as a laboratory technologist and meet HCPC standards, you are eligible to apply as not all countries have licencing bodies

Hi Emily, please are medical laboratory technicians also regulated by HCPC. I am a Medical Laboratory Technician with six years experience. I'm l eligible? And are there other means English proficiency can be obtained except through IELTS. Thank you.

Hi Eniola. They are recognised as Biomedical Scientist in the UK. So I think you can apply if you meet the other requirements. About English language, I have heard it's possible to get a letter from your university to say your studies were delivered in English and you are proficient. Hopefully that's enough. No Medical laboratory technicians can't apply for HCPC registration. You have to be a Medical laboratory scientist to be registered as a Biomedical Scientist

I noted most employers want someone with uk experience, is volunteering in a hospital in UK allowed? What's your advice please

Hi Faith, Volunteering is allowed, you can also apply for Medical Laboratory Assistant or Assistant practitioner jobs to get some laboratory experience, then you can apply for BMS roles once you get your HCPC registration

Hi Emily, I have gotten my MSc from UK in Biomedical Science, I have volunteering experience i labs but not as a Biomedical Scientist. I am not finding a BMS job that does not require HCPC in this case can I get registered without any prior experience as a BMS ? Thank you

Hi, to be able to work as a BMS, you need to complete the IBMS generic portfolio and register with the HCPC. You can apply for Trainee BMS which would allow you complete your portfolio and register with the HCPC after which you should be able to get BMS jobs All the very best

Im a radiographer I have four years gap in my work experience. Now I'm working in a hospital for past 6 years. Will that be a problem for my hcpc registration.

If you have been working continuously for the last 6years and can state why you had a 4years gap, you should be fine but please clarify with the HCPC registration department. All the very best

Can I apply with MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION CERTIFICATE instead of IELTS ? My undergraduate was also taught in English,have proof certificate . Do they accept this ?
