I picked up The Order 1886 for like 5 bucks two years ago. And to this day i think it was the most unfairly hated video game ever made. I dont even underastand what any of the criticism was about. Genuinely a really good game and deserved a sequel.

Days Gone is a tricky recommendation. My friend recommended it to me and I have played it for about 15+ hours. The gameplay loop is super generic. After some research I have found that the interesting things happen in story at about 60% of the game and the hordes come even later. The 60% mark is at around 25 hours. Personally I think its too much of a ask to play this for 25 hours hoping for the good stuff.

Yeah but the game is fantastic. Well worth it. I bought it on sale for like 9 dollars and is way more worth my time than the 40hrs I wasted on The Last of Us 2 that I can't get back. I spent 40 bucks on that game and felt ripped off.

@casthedemon I didn’t even buy TLOU2, don’t know how u got tricked into buying it. In any case I prefer to do lots of side content and exploration in my games however Days gone don’t entertain the concept of exploration. It is still a nice game but I think a bit too lengthy and wrong pacing.

@abhishekprajapat415 I wasn't tricked. Just disappointed. I didn't want to shit on the game without having at least given it a shot. And I walked away from it with a much more nuanced view than if I just watched reviews. See I'm the opposite. I fucking hate side content because most of it is time wasting bullshit that doesn't add to games at all. It's just padding. I almost always mainline the story and set the game to easy just so I can experience the story with minimal intrusion. I don't do side shit unless it's impactful. For example, in Cyberpunk I did all of the actual side missions because they were well written and actually brought more character depth to the main cast. I didn't do any of the gigs or cyberpsycho nonsense because to me it just detracts from the actual game and is meaningless content.

​@@casthedemon then we are quite opposite indeed. I often love to do the side content. When it comes to games for me its often about the world and environment and then the storyline. If I were to make a list of importance in order, then for me: 1. World (Graphics and Environment) - I need good graphics, nothing cutting edge but everything after 2014-15 will work for me. I really really prefer for the world and environment to feel alive or tell a story. It can be like Elden ring where everything is devastated but it has to tell some story and lore. The Days gone on the other had don't give any story. Almost all locations are same if not for different building placements. 2. Gameplay - The game must have good mechanics and gameplay. I didn't like TLOU Part - 1 as much as others, primarily cause of the gameplay. There simply isn't much to do. It way too linear in terms of how you do things. There are other linear storyline games but TLOU Part-1 isn't diverse in terms of how you can do things. 3. Story and side-quests - Yes, I don't think that main story alone is enough. There needs to be good side quests to connect to various characters and the world to have a reasonable understanding on the main story. Though as you stated it depends on games to games. My all time fav: 1. RDR2 / Witcher 3 - Don't tell me choose one, Just like quantum mechanics I don't know which is at the top 2. Ghost of Tsushima 3. Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy 4. Sekiro 5. Cyberpunk 2077

@abhishekprajapat415 yeah fair enough. I just hate games that don't respect players time and seems full of padding. One reason I actually didn't like AC2. The story wasn't even an actual story. Just loose mission objectives strung together. Ezio was okay but mostly just cringe and bland as a character. And the gameplay was so clunky and terrible it put me off to the game. Most of the missions just felt like tedious nonsense. Of the Ezio trilogy Revelations was by far the best imo because it was the only one that actually tried to tell a story and the gameplay was slightly improved. AC3 is still honestly my favorite game in the franchise. With Rogue, Syndicate, and Valhalla following. I will agree that TLOU gameplay wasn't really interesting. But that wasn't why I played the game lol. The story was just fantastic.

Imo Tomb Raider trilogy wildly overrated. So much back tracking, map checking, spamming survivor sense. Most skills suck so the sense of progression isn't there. Annoying and melodramatic characters
