It's lame to bash someone because they say Tony Hawk is their favorite skater. I'm 37 and even when I was a kid, skaters would look down on people who bought Tony Hawk Birdhouse boards. Why? The man came up with the best, and at one point, he had no attention at all because street skating had taken over the scene. He played a big role in bringing vert back and popularizing skating overall. Now it's an Olympic sport and widely accepted nationwide. In my day, we were looked at as delinquents and chased out by police. Nobody is a "poser" except one who pretends to skate, but doesn't. And for the sake of this video, my favorite skaters are Daewon Song, Steve Olsen, and Brandon Turner.

I don't think I ever had a favorite skater except maybe bam lol but to shit on people who like Nyjah Houston? Like I haven't skated in 10+ years but I remember chillin at the skateshop watching little 11-12 year old nyjah rippin shit up with his long ass dreads and thinking he'd be insane once he grew taller than 4'5" 😂

dude same, by FAR!! the way he mixes his freestyle skills in with street skating is insane. Also, I think he literally has the most inhuman balance out of ANYONE on a board; my favorite examples were when he did a hang ten nose manual, and his one-footed pump track lap. nearly impossible and I haven't even seen other freestyle skaters doing the same. the man's a legend...

I remember being introduced to him by first seeing him street brawl like 4 dudes at once. Hes a tough mother fucker and awesome skater. Boneless are some of my favorite tricks to variate. Maybe cause Im more old school style, because I like the height I get, or the extra confidence having board in hand, but either way Ill always be grateful to valley for being such a staple in my form. It’s so sad to see him not skating anymore, but he stopped for a sad reason, he was taking drugs and was almost always drunk, until one night after a party he and his friend Shane Cross wanted to drive a motorcycle while being drunk, they didn’t wear helmets and crashed. Ali got into a coma and Shane Cross died. It took about 3 months I think for Ali to recover from the coma, he later got in jail for 2 years I think. And that’s when he stopped

Jonny Giger is my favorite current skater. But I'm also just kinda into flatland. I also like Jamie Griffin, Ellis Frost, Daewon Song, and Christopher Hiett. I also dig some freestyle dudes like Isamu Yamamoto and Yuta Fujii. I'm sure it's cliche as fuck, but my fav historic skater is Rodney Mullen because, obvious reasons aside, when I first saw his video in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, I realized that skating was an art form and it blew my mind. I think it’s perfectly acceptable to say that either Nijah or Tony are your favorite skaters if you feel that way. Tony Hawk is probably the single greatest contributor to skateboarding history and Nijah is arguably one of the best street skaters in the world (at least when it comes to rails). My favorite skaters growing up were Mark Appleyard, Heath Kirchart, Arto Sarai and Tosh Townsend (in the sight unseen video). People are going to like who they like and I don’t think fame or Twitter followers should exclude you from favoritism. That almost happened to Paul Rodriguez at some point but he really used to be one of the best street skaters out there in his heyday.
