My stealth skill in fallout 4 is so high, I can one-shot a raider in the chest with an unsilenced pistol (the unique .44 "the gainer" to be exact), and if I'm sneaking from a few yards away or more, they almost immediately forget about their friend being shot right in front of them. I like when they blame their drug use for it, like their friend just overdosed, or they're hallucinating. Anyways, let this be a lesson to you all: There's a fine line between skepticism and denial.

In Hitman the disguise thing pissed me off. In real life, people aren't gonna suspect you to be a random guy who doesn't work there. If I saw a random guy in uniform at my work, I'd probably be like "Hmm he must be new. Whatever." However, in the newer ones, they did make it more realistic where the boss people are a bit more aware, but it still seems pretty unrealistic sometimes.

Here's my gripe. When you go through an entire level, undetected, nobody knows you even coughed or farted in the wind and yet, even as flawless as a silent serpent that you were as you slithered your way through the level, the boss always knows you're there and the cut scene plays. Couldn't we for once, I don't know, catch the boss on the shitter or having a drink or doing something out of the ordinary then just take him out like we did the entire level that had no idea we were even there to begin with?? What, are we on a hidden camera? Did they know we were there the entire time? Why not surprise us instead early on? Why make us take out all the minions? To save them from paying their lackeys?? In some games, like Splinter Cell: Conviction, there are no bosses and the ending can be the same whether you were noticed or not; however, I think it would be cool in some games if you had two different level-endings depending upon whether or not you were seen.

Thing that annoys me in these games... Dead bodies always must be from you... In Assassins Creed I used to poison guards and make them go berserk and swing around their weapons. While they did I would toss coins on to the ground in front of them that other guards or peasants would run in to snatch up. They then got chopped down by the guard freaking out swinging their sword with dozens of bystanders watching it happen but instantly upon finding the body the guards all agro on you. Pay no mind to the guy literally swinging his sword around cutting people down without mercy. It must be that guy 30 feet away standing in a middle of a crowd of people. Or sometimes guards or peasants would fall to their deaths off rooftops or ledges and upon finding their bodies AI is like oh it must of been the Player Character...

#8: I've worked as a guard, and would often sneak behind/follow co-workers to demonstrate how weak their general awareness was (I'm kind of a jerk like that). Joujoubox AC Origins stealth is the best of the series, in my opinion. Idk if they've fixed it but in Unity the stealth was completely broken the last time I played. I remember playing Unity and no guard would spot me but the detection meter would go off randomly and alert everybody where I was.

Something I really miss about the old Splinter Cell games is the sneaking, it seems a lot more realistic compared to the newer games. It's clear that they have tried to go for a more fluid and animated style, I think it takes away from the experience in some ways. The cardboard box isn't that bad in the right circumstances. Imagine trying to hide from someone. You find a bunch of large boxes and one is empty so you get inside and situate yourself between two or three other boxes just like it. I thought the disguise usually fooled everyone except for other people wearing the same uniform. So a street vendor would fool security, but not other street vendors. Which kinda makes sense. I would expect the gardners at a mansion to all know each other, or all security guards at a post to know each other. I only played a few missions though. Maybe their awareness gets more difficult.

Actually that could make sense, your body language could give your away. You might be unconsciously telling them something. Also the longer you need to pretend the higher the chance of getting caught. Its how some criminals can tell if a cop is undercover because the undercover cop's body language. I remember reading about how some people escaped a makeshift prison, one pretended to be a woman, but the trick only worked if you didn't look too closely at the guy pretending to be a women.

kato093 I really don't understand why people in the internet are so aggressive all the time..Can't you like... present arguments, or at least be polite? And Even so, I'm talking about some sections that force you to be 100% undetected. And pretty much all games that we listed have that, but some sections were just too long and not fun, while I really remember Tomb Raider and shadow of mordor being extremelly fun to use stealth to thin the numbers of enemies you had to kill in open combat. Also, in metal gear you can potentiallly.. go guns blazin, but it would just make your life harder, see my point?

I completely understand why the "cone of vision" exists in certain stealth games, but sometimes it's pretty silly. I was playing Deus Ex: Mankind Divided the other night and was entering a large courtyard where a group of about 6 guards were standing. I could clearly see them in full view under the street lights, and I was also under a streetlight just across the courtyard. But because I was just outside the end of the enemy's cone of vision, it's like I didn't even exist. How do you not see me standing just across the room in full view of your whole squad? A stranger in a full trench coat in an area you're suppose to be guarding...

Once I was playing Assassins Creed 3 and was running around in the Boston open world. I was looking to get into a fight (I liked AC3's combat), so when I saw two guards just walking around minding their own business I decided to go for the double air assassination. I pulled it off but for some reason I headed the alert sound of being detected I ignored it thinking there was no one around and went on with my day. About two minutes later I was just standing in a group of people when an army of about 50 guards swarm into the street and charged towards me like a zombie horde. Needless to say I could only fight off so many guards before the multiple firing lines took me down. in a seperate event I was stalking some soldier in some under growth , when a soldier I wanted to kill came right up to the underbrush I silently creept towards him but he was still just out of reach so I went to the very edge of the covers area, to the point of me being completely visible. The thing is the guard was actually staring at me, like directly at me and still not acknowledging my presence. I crept right up so that the only part of my body in the bush was my left foot and the guard was still just barely out of reach. I took one more step and it was one too many as the guard spotted me and instantly freaked the fck out xD AC3 was a weird game.

My greatest annoyance in steath games is that uncanny ability for guards to detect when Garret (or Solid Snake or Agent 47 or whoever) makes a noise when countless others are around them, also making noises. On a similar note police bullets only hit 47 (and not innocents) in _Absolution_ so they were free to spray down a crowd.

Tenchu Z was a lot of fun, but I eventually discovered that every ai's reaction time was slow enough that you can just sprint up and stab them without consequence. Eventually there was a boss battle that I couldn't beat, and I just gave up on the game and never went back to it.
