Here is another pro tip I haven't seen anyone mention: If you run out of space on your internet storage, you can move a folder to your sd card and create a link(/shortcut) from the original path. The system will continue to act like that the folder was on the original path but physically it's no longer there using your storage.

For the formatting of SD cards, any Windows game you want to run on Linux should be formatted for the Deck. This is due to the way Wine and Proton works. Linux native games do work fine on Windows (NTFS or exFAT) formatted cards, unless they rely on filesystem specific features. The Steam Client does, so that will need the Deck (EXT4) formatting.

If you do more of those there are some more complicated things, which nonetheless would be very useful, like mapping the right back buttons on the deck to act like mouse buttons valve themselves made that stuff available on the deck, but getting there and understanding how and what to configure can be a pain in the ass. Other than that, I just got my deck yesterday and am still in the process of setting emulation up and getting the hang of how to use it. It's been a lot of fun as of now!

The Steam Deck is not for the faint hearted and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who doesn’t understand computer hardware and technical specifications. That being said, if you can overcome and handle this beast, then this device would be right up your street and you would be in for a real treat to know how powerful this device is! The steam deck is a portable handheld gaming PC and it is so powerful, it’s even backwards compatible and plays almost all of those classic retro games across many platforms through software emulation. The Nintendo Switch has serious competition on its hands and with the new arrival of the Steam Deck & judging by its amazing success so far this year, I can safely say that the Steam Deck blows away all of its competitors!
