The Black cardinal is one I really want in my collection, but they are a bit onthe pricier side where I live. Today I found a Rojo congofor 12 euros in the supermarket; close enough! Cue me grinning all the way to the till... I think I might have frightend the cashier with my enthousiasm.

Not sure if you can order from Orange lake Nursery but they've got black cardinal starters for less than $10

The first thing I learned in my plant journey many many moons ago was that plants eventually mature! I learned this lesson with a Monstera large form that is now 30 years old and has claimed a good portion of a room we once referred to as our reading room but currently is referred to as the Monstera room! LOL

Hi Drea. I think that I have the Moonlight (I bought it with no name on it). But I can’t seem to keep it happy, probably it’s the watering I can’t seem to get right. The leaves roll inwards, get limp, and dies. Do you have any tips? I have both Pink Princess, Birkin and (I think) Prince of Orange and I’m not struggling with those varieties.
@AlohaPlantLife Жыл бұрын
Care should be pretty much identical to the prince of orange so definitely odd that it’s giving you trouble. Have you checked to make sure the roots are still healthy?
@jetterasmussen6577 Жыл бұрын
@@AlohaPlantLife I will have a look, because I just thought the same thing. It was a tiny plant from a big box store, so it may have been overwatered.

@@AlohaPlantLife The whole plant unfortunately came apart, when I took a closer look. The roots were completely rotted, so no wonder the poor plant couldn’t keep the leaves alive. Bummer- it was a gorgeous plant 😔

Any chance you're still down to do that thermatophyllum video? Been looking for care tips and really struggling. Recently acquired one that I have no clue what it is but it's from Lowe's, so can't be that rare.

I can’t recall exactly what I said in this video about making a video about them, but I have since released this video: 21 Plants That Are NOT Philodendron Anymore and Why | Repot and Educate kzbin.info/www/bejne/goLQpWujlq13gK8

@@AlohaPlantLife In the intro you mention not covering them because they aren't the same growth habits as the philodendrons you're covering here. Thanks for the link and watching now! Took me a while to notice and mitigate a disease among my all my philodendron types (including a xanadu), so want to give them all the best chances possible.

Those are two arborescent types that I mentioned at the start of the video have been moved from the philodendron genus to the thaumatophyllum genus. I think I’m going to do a future video just on those that are now in thaumatophyllum since the growth pattern is quite different. I love my thaumatophyllum hope I own!💚

I was wondering what is the best way to propagate these self-heders.
@AlohaPlantLife11 ай бұрын
Honestly, they can be a bit tricky. Most of them grow so tightly together in terms of their nodes that it can be really hard to get in there and successfully cut between nodes. But that’s how you do it. Once you’ve cut between a node just take that part of the plant and you cut off and either water propagate it or go direct to soil. I personally find water easier but that’s just me.💚

@@AlohaPlantLife I actually decided to put a tiny moss-pole behind it, (made out of strip of plastic sheet,- I sacrificed a placemat, cut a 2-3" strip, bent in semicircle, held with long twisty ties, stuffed with moss. The birkin's roots are attaching to it. I hydrate it every day. I am essentially "air layering" it, though the stem is not cut. Since I "tour" my plants every day, it's no big deal to hydrate daily.
