Wacky Packages packs with the stickers were freaking awesome ! Parodies of famous brand packaging, sounds stupid but I loved putting the stickers all over the school. Janitor must have hated it.

I actually bought the Desert Storm trading cards. But I was in the Army at the time and they were pretty easy to find at the PX (Post Exchange). I’ve only seen two 3D movies, some documentary at Disneyland, in 1986, and the first Avengers film, in 2012. The 3D effect in 1986 was far, far superior to the more modern film.

The one trading card I have burned into my brain is the Star Wars 1977 Darth Vader card that had him titled "dark lord of the sith," implying there were more sith and he and not the emperor was their leader. Plus throw in the treatment for his "outdated religion" by the hands of imperial officers who made it clear that they and not he were in command under the emperor.

I bought Gong Show, The Cops, Welcome Back Kotter, Kojak, Truckin', Crazy Cars, The Six-Million Dollar Man, Good Times, Space 1999, Know Your US Presidents, Hysterical History Stickers, A Great American, Shock Theater, King Kong (1976), Star Trek (!976), Marvel Super Heroes Comics (1976), Planet of the Apes and Happy Days cards. In 1976 I started getting a weekly allowance for doing my chores, hence the reason for buying so many trading cards.

Used to have the Planet of the Apes cards, then the Star Wars cards (complete blue and red sets...gone, now.) And later on, Garbage pail kids were fun! And when did them in the UK, they didn't change the name to "Dustbin kids", like they usually did with US imports! In the UK, Top Cat was called 'Boss cat' because there was a British cat food on sale called Top Cat! They didn't bother to change the opening title card or theme song though, so I didn't see the point...bet you'll sleep better for knowing that!🤭

3's company "cards" were actually all stickers and must have sold poorly because they can still be had quite cheap compared to other cards off that era. They were all from the Ropers era of the show.....no Furley sticker.

Some of the sets from the 70s had such a low number of cards they were easy to collect.... Welcome back Kotter had just 53 cards (I'm only missing one), Bionic Woman just had 44 cards, 66 cards for each series of Grease. Sports Card sets always had a much larger number......and packs of cards were soooo cheap back then. Kotter cards were a dime a pack and probably most other stuff was the same...by the end of the 80s the price of packs was about five cents a card (tmes however many were in the pack)....in the early 90s when things got glossy is when the prices were jacked upto as much as 35 cents a card for upperdeck cards.....and the sports card market was over saturated...times a million.

Pac Man had scratch off cards long before Nintendo did.... The Topps 80-81 Hockey Cards also had a scratch off puck that underneath revealed the players name....thank god us Canadians didn't have that on the O-Pee-Chee version! (the superior Hockey Card version!)...makes sense for a game but on a card where the players name is also on the back it seems silly.

I have a couple additions for your list. I have seen Mash trading cards out there. Out of all the shows from the 70's and 80's, Mash would not have been high on my list to collect. And I remember there were the movie Grease trading cards. I never saw that movie but it seemed odd to me at the time they'd make cards for it since it really wasn't a movie for kids. Anyhow thank you for making and sharing this video.

@That Junkman Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey 🎵 Macho, macho man! 🎵 In the Navy! 🎵 Yes, you can sail the seven seas! 🎵 ''Any how''...The idea for ''The Gong Show'' originated in the mid-1970s. When Chuck Barris (who had previous success with The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game)... Had planned on makeing a new kind of game show, based on the old "amateur hour" contest shows. In the tradition of (The Major Bowes Amateur Hour and Arthur Godfrey Time). He held auditions to find talented acts to appear on the show. But the vast majority of the performers who came to the auditions were ordinary people. Who had only one or two skills, or thought they had some type special talent.
