Yes, but Loki had no love interest in the MCU, so who would be her mother then? Odin had a wife (perhaps even someone before Frigga, we don't really know, if Frigga was Hela's mother, or not), making Hela the big sister to the Asgardian brother duo was for a good reason. Even if it's not true to both source materials.
@sophiar.64265 жыл бұрын
@@Croftice1 Angrboða is Hela's mother in the comics, a giantress who lived in Jotunheim. But, his wife, Sigyn, is the mother of Nari or Narfi. So Loki had a son with Sigyn which is Nari, and 3 children with Angrboða which are Hela, Fenrir, and Jörmungandr
@Croftice15 жыл бұрын
@@sophiar.6426 Ok, nice trip to the comics (realized, you didn't talk about the actual Norse mythology, my appologies). And what of all of this applies to the MCU? As I said, Loki had no love interest in the MCU. That means, Hela would be motherless there.

@Afonso Lucas... I'm not getting your logic at all. Of course people should get mad at 'white washing' or any kind of washing... characters should be played like they were intended, if an important character trade to a character is their heritage and therefor obviously should be Asian, White or Black it should be played by a fitting actor.
@afonsolucas22196 жыл бұрын
micglou Yeah yeah, I agree. I have the same opinion. I do have one exeption. If changing the race somehow makes the character or story better, I think it would be interesting. Secondary characters are affected most by this, hell, see Spiderman Homecoming. I was just saying, when a black character is changed to be white, everybody gets mad and says white washing. When it's the other way around, everybody gets mad but no one says black washing. Weird huh?

@sarizonana6 жыл бұрын
waywardaughter it was a very good change just like with Tony Stark Both are better men in the films and much more likable. I just wanted to say it’s more interesting a personality change than a race change. If the films change the race of a character is like ohh ok they made a white character black fine no big deal and the same for the way around. But when fans say Tony is a darker character in the comics I think ok that’s an interesting change and even more because it worked so well that change the same with Hank Pym.

In the MCU (to date) there are 12 historically white characters from the original comics whose ethnicity has been changed. And only one example of the opposite occurring- that being the Ancient One (who not only was the character’s ethnicity changed, but also the gender). Do some research and avoid injecting conjecture.

This is hinting that pietro and wanda could have had a power gene in them. Its just a theory, but it could work.

Saying a mask or helmet like Hawkeye's 'wouldn't look too good in live action' is a tired and ignorant argument. They wouldn't dare make a live action version of Batman, Iron Man, or Spider-Man without their iconic masks. Yet, characters like Hawkeye, Wolverine, and Iron Fist get the shaft.
@wtfisthis23166 жыл бұрын
Kyru82 totally agree with you. I was so pissed when they teased wolverines mask in the wolverine, then didnt see it ever again. Why even show it if they had no intentions of using it in a movie. Would of been awesome to actually see wolverine in his costume. 😐
@Zathaghil6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, how about no... Batman's mask/costume doesn't look half as silly as Hawkeye's purple disco spandex floppers. That's why Batman can have his mask and Hawkeye lost his. So no, saying Hawkeye's mask wouldn't look good is NOT a tired and ignorant argument. It's a valid one that people with eyes and any sense of style can see and agree with. They'd have to change it entirely, and then it's a different mask anyway, so you'd cry about that instead... They made the right choice, 100%.
@tribe83426 жыл бұрын
@Zathaghil no you wrong. I think it still look good if they make the wing cap on Hawkeye's mask smaller and change the purple color into dark purple or just black. It's just Jeremy Renner's face feature doesn't look good behind mask. It might be not look good for Hugh Jackman also. Another example is between Bale and Ben Affleck. Look, I love Christian Bale, I really do, I love him more than Batfleck but his face feature doesn't look too good in a mask compare to Affleck.

MCU Bucky Barnes was a bit different from the comics Bucky Barnes, as the one in the comics was only Captain America's child sidekick, while the one in the MCU was Steve's best friends. That's really the only difference, because both the comics and MCU Bucky's went on to be on the Winter Soldier, but another difference is that the MCU Bucky is being called the 'White Wolf', which is a completely different character than Bucky Barnes, while the comics Bucky just went on from being the Winter Soldier to being Captain America. I know the MCU Bucky might become Captain America as well, but I think he'll be the White Wolf first.

The Demon in a Bottle storyline was memorable, yes, but it’s NOT the only one Tony Stark was ever in! He’s not a “booze-reliant lost cause” as you call him - he’d have a hard time being a superhero if his rock-bottom state during Demon in a Bottle was the way he always is! He’s been around for decades before and since that storyline and, and you don’t “completely change” him by writing him as he was during those many, many years. (The same goes for Ant-Man. That one panel where he hits Janet - and the writers have said it was intended to be accidental, while gesturing wildly - is also not the whole story on him, and if you're so sure it's happened oh-so-many times, go on and *name* an instance other than that *one,* and anything from Ultimate Marvel - the darker alternate universe where *everyone* not named Spider-Man is at least 50% more assholish - doesn't count.) If anything, making characters revolve entirely around one memorable moment instead of learning and working with the whole character is the kind of lazy writing that would make the films' success impossible.

Whitewashed? I got no problem with the fact that they changed her ethnicity in the movie but let's be honest it's from Norris freaking mythology you can't whitewash something that was already White technically it's cultural appropriation for someone besides a white person to play a character from Norse mythology it'd be like having a white dude play as Black Panther that being said I do think they need to be more inclusive but I don't think changing the ethnicity of a Norse character was the right way to go though I thought her performance was excellent
@TheGrimStride6 жыл бұрын
Race and enthincity are completely different things. A black person can play a Norse person if the are Norse. Chris Hemsworth is cultural appropriation because he is Australian. The ethnicity of an actor doesn’t matter because you can’t tell what it is. Like I thought Tessa Thompson was British but she is actually American. Also they didn’t really change the characters race because the movie version is an original character. The comic character is the blonde girl that died

You can't white wash a Nordic based pantheon...just saying. Or an original work based in a predominantly White country. White washing is using places that aren't naturally white and making them so...btw if I'm wrong about the definition you still can't white wash a Nordic based pantheon.

Danial Zaini everybody thinks tiana (the Disney princess) is revolutionary when they literally black washed the character she’s based off of. Double standards like this shouldn’t exist. If white washing is wrong then so is black washing. If black washing isn’t wrong that neither is white washing. People need to pick a lane and stay in it

All Superheroes should wear their original or most popular costume, thats where the ball has dropped over and over again, it helps give each character their own individuality, I'm extremely certain that any X-men lover would agree, if they could just do just use the comics as the storyline as is, just bring it to life but the stick to the actual story, it would be more colossal success that's why we loved them cause of who they are, their own special power and unique costume 💙💚

To me, I'm ignoring the "canon" idea that Ego is Quill's father. Him being a half-alien prince seems so much better than what the MCU delivered. Korg and Miek were also very sinful changes. In the Planet Hulk movie, their characters were done so much better. For one, Miek was more intelligient. Despite being a bit cowardly, during the first half. As for Korg, he and Thor had history. So, what the MCU did with them was just shameful; in my opinion

The problem is that there's no way to fit in all these elaborately detailed back stories for some of these characters without taking up more time and resources and movies. Sometimes it just can't be done, and what we're given is the best thing if we want them a part of the stories. I still think Copycat was sad.. I was looking forward to having another Mystique-style lady in a Marvel movie, but she just stayed regular non-mutant human Vanessa Carlysle.
@vincentmitchell74045 жыл бұрын
In the comics, Korg is serious and Miek is nice, but in the MCU, it's vice versa.
