The name Ethiopia came from the King "ETHIEL" and the most expensive mineral, "YOP" that is believed to be only found in Ethiopia, and not discovered yet. By the time King ETHIEL was on the throne, has begun to find this mineral and the land was called the "Eth's land of yop" or Ethiopia. The Greeks may have formulated mythology about the origin of the name, and unfortunately, you are more likely getting the mythology than the real fact, since their scriptures are all over the internet, that you are using as a source. I have once read that, the Italians used to say "Ethiopians are not black, rather the tropical sun made them look black". This is to deny the credit of Ethiopians' victory over the Italians in the battle of Adwa and felt ashamed of embracing their defeat. So they kept manipulating history to show the superiority of White. I recommend you to come and see Ethiopia yourself, the blogger or KZbinr, than making videos sourced from the internet. WE WERE GREAT AND WE WILL BE GREAT AGAIN! Daniel Abera Haile.

Great video !! But when you were talking about the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, you forgot to mention two things. That the “Book of Genesis” Chapter 2 Verse 13 actually says that the GARDEN OF EDEN WAS LOCATED IN ETHIOPIA. And that the Ethiopian Orthodox Churches are the ONLY churches in the world that believe that the “Book of Enoch” is inspired by God and they actually have the “Book of Enoch” canonized in their Bibles. When the “Book of Enoch” was first discovered, it was written in Ethiopic script. WHICH MAKES PERFECT SENSE BECAUSE THE PROPHET ENOCH WAS AN ETHIOPIAN !! I like how you talked about the Ark of the Covenant and the Ethiopian Church in this video. I learned something new today. 🙂

Just to add some other facts; Ethiopia is mentioned more than 40 times in the Holy Bible Ethiopia is the country that accepted the first ever Islamic refugees during the regime of King Nejashi Ethiopia got the name from King Ethiop, and not like the story that the west made up and said something about the Greeks, it was never true. Alongside having 13 months of sunshine, Ethiopia also has a unique calender, which is approximately 8 years behind the Gregorian calender, so at the time this comment was written, we are in 2012EC. For all coffee lovers, you might be surprised to learn that coffee was first discovered in the southern part of Ethiopia. The place is called Kaffaa, which is how the word coffee got its name. And Ethiopia is also one of the top exporters of coffee to the rest of the world. Ethiopia has a very large proportion of highlands, which accounts for 70% of the African mountains are located in Ethiopia. A little additional info, our naming system is totally different from the rest of the world too, but it takes more times to explain :) And a little correction, the Italians came to invade Ethiopia in 1935 for the second time, after losing an earlier one at the Battle of Adwa in 1896. And they stayed in the country for 5, not 6, but 5 years. So basically we celebrate Victory day, rather than Independence Day. Due to this fact, numerous African nations have adopted the Ethiopian National Flag colors as their own national flags. Just some of the major additions to know about our country:) And FTD Facts, Your are doing such a wonderful job, i have watched most of your videos. And expect even more. Keep it up :):)

Hey ! Ethiopia name come from Ethiope by our kings name the one he given his daughter sipara to Mosses for marriage, and teach him about leadership and the miracle stick . Ethiopia means precious yellow gold. The Gold type that bring to Israel when Jesus was born as gift. I ask Greek people Ethiopia have NO meaning. Don’t brain washed by westerns tails ok.
