Hi Beth. Great video but I would love to see you pack your suitcase using these techniques. I have limited myself to one carry-on suitcase, and one personal item. My biggest struggles are my toiletries as they seem to take a lot of bulky space and shoes. I would love to watch how you personally address these issues.

This is my issue too. I used to have zero issues with that because I would enjoy using hotel toiletries or picking up whatever I needed at local grocery stores or pharmacies at my destination. Now, I'm kind of picky about what I use. I've narrowed some of my stuff to solid options, which keeps my liquids bag lighter. As for shoes, I wear one and pack one, but I have finicky feet so I can't actually wear that many shoes. I wear my heaviest shoes and pack the lighter ones, which are usually sandals. I can usually get everything I need in my carry on suitcase and small backpack.

All good tips. May I humbly suggest a couple more? 1) Check the weather forecasts for your destinations, and choose multi-functional clothing accordingly. No need for sandals in the sleet, but an extra sweater is invaluable. 2) Pack both an anti-diarrhetic and anti-constipation remedy. 3) Having tried both, I still prefer soft-sided luggage, which has more “give” than hard case bags. However, each type has pros and cons (weight, durability, etc.). 4) Relax! Nobody is going to remember or care if you’ve worn the same outfit four times. Happy travels, everyone!

Natchez, Mississippi. Yes Travel Cubes are the best. I was "overpacked" on a trip to Italy and the Airline attendant at check in, told me just remove one of your travel cubes and carry the cube onto the airplane. WOW. That saved me money ( no baggage fee) and it was so easy to put the cube into the overhead bin. One of the things I do with my cubes, is I never unpack the cube. I stand the cubes up right in my suitcase and remove items as I go along. My suitcase looks neat and I don't have to "repack." One cube is always designated or switched out for dirty clothes.

Thanks for the tips. I just bought the compression cubes for the first time and will use them this fall when we travel for 5 weeks. The hardest part deciding on outfits for me and limiting the clothing. I have gotten better with each trip in realizing what i used and what i didn't It is always good to reinforce organization and great packing tips and ideas. Never been to Natchez Mississippi.

A great video for packing more efficiently. I don't own packing cubes but can see how they would make more space for items like a steamer. My steamer didn't come with a bag, so I used two plastic grocery sacks. After draining the steamer, I didn't want any water to leak onto my clothes so the plastic sacks worked but they aren't very stylish. Do you have any ideas for packing a steamer? A few years ago, I purchased clear plastic covers, from Amazon , to cover my luggage when flying. It prevents getting marks on your luggage. Natchez, Mississippi

Over the years I’ve found packing cubes an extra step and compression bags cause too many wrinkles. Instead I roll things that don’t wrinkle or that I don’t care if they wrinkle. All underwear, pjs, swimsuits, socks, go on the bottom. Next pants, makeup bag, curing iron, shoes, etc. On the top layer I save wire hangers for all blouses, skirts, dresses & shirts. Still on the hanger I fold to fit the space., alternating the direction of each piece. When I get to my destination it’s easy to grab the hangers and hang up. Remove the middle layer and leave the bottom layer in the suit case! If you are moving every three or four days, this saves a ton of time! I do make one exception … I add a HUGE, 2 feet by 2 feet zip lock bag with a dryer sheet inside, on the very top, which all dirty cloths go into. Then I can sit on this to compress! Works like a charm! Now I have room for that new dress I just couldn’t resist buying at the hotel! Happy travels!

We just got back home from staying downtown (Charleston) for a couple of week nights. I forgot contact solution! My son borrowed my travel size bottle and I forgot. I had to store the contacts in water and make a quick morning trip to the Scotchman the next day. 😂 That new bottle is more in my always packed toiletry bag.
