This was great! Thank you! I would add: 1. when people bring smelly food into the airplane, maybe something they bought at the airport, like fried chicken or shrimps (some people get allergic reactions even if they smell them). 2. Leaving lots of trash behind; flight attendants walk by several times collecting trash but they still keep it just to leave a mess behind 3. Those watching certain shows or movies that are not suitable for all ages. Kids can be sittting close by and see their screen. 4. The ones that take your seat assuming you will be OK with it.

It's shrimp, not shrimps and if they actually served food on board people wouldn't bring so much with them. I had a non-stinky sandwich on a flight and felt so uncomfortable that I starved until I reached my destination because I didn't want any dirty looks. That isn't right either.
@lovingmychocolat16 күн бұрын
@chiaralistica I see your point, and agree people should not starve, in your case, if you were too conscious about the sandwich, but feeling hungry, you can always buy a meal or a snack from their menu. Also, I will kindly suggest you to do your research before posting a correction, the term "shrimps" is correct.

All of the points are so well said! I absolutely loved how you put “you have the absolute right to do it. But the question is not if you have the right or not, the question is: do you want to have manners on top of just exercising your rights?” This just applies to SO many situations in life and I find it such a shame that we aren’t taught manners anymore these days, everything is so focused on having “the right” to everything. It creates such a selfish society without them realising it.

The trouble with fragrance these days is that too many will drown themselves in the stink and you can smell them from the next zip code. Less is more and more than 2 feet away people shouldn't be able to smell you. I'm specifically referencing those cheap body sprays that are so noxious, gives me an instant migraine and trust me, I won't be at my nicest when interacting with you and your stench.

Even during covid times, people were travelling with the worst of coughs, I got into a plane in 2022 that was FULL of people coughing with really wet, bad coughs, I was so scared I would get sick. I understand that people tend to buy the cheapest tickets and that's often non-refundable, but I always try to upgrade my tickets so that I have cancellation or date change available because you never know and travelling while sick is also not fun anyways. I've travelled with my son sick because we had already rescheduled the flight so I didn't want to reschedule it again and his asthma got really bad because we were in a tropical country, so it was not a fun experience, in retrospect it would have been better to wait until his cold was better and then travel.

I’m a frequent flyer, and there are a few things I don’t understand about some passengers: 1. People who sit in your assigned seat and act like they’re entitled to it, even though you may have paid extra for that seat. 2. Passengers who are sick (I know it can happen) but don’t cover their mouths when they cough. This happens almost every time I fly, and as a result, I often end up getting sick. 3. During boarding, when people push their way to the front, ignoring those who are already in line. This happened to me -I was one of the last to board, and as I was walking to my seat, a guy rushed past me to grab an emergency exit seat. 4. People sitting behind me who kick my seat, or children doing the same while their parents don’t intervene. 5. Sitting in the middle seat between two men who spread out, leaving no room for me. 6. Passengers who fall asleep and lean on me. 7. People wearing strong perfumes that trigger my migraines. These are some of the challenges I often face while flying.

I am a flight attendant with 15 years of experience (including private, middle east and main German airline) and can only confirm all of your points both from a flight crew and passenger view. Normally telling people to recline their seat at meal time but at times annoying if you need to tell numerous people since in my understanding there should be a common feeling of courtesy. Usually people instantly do that without protesting or discussing.
@yvetteschaerer9 сағат бұрын
I agree with all the points about basic courtesy when traveling, but the worst is when people travel while sick and don’t take precautions, like covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, or wearing a mask. As I write this, I’m now sick with a 39° fever.

@@monikagorecki4995 You must not have long legs then. Not everyone who is tall has long legs (some have a longer torso). When someone reclines their seat in front of me, it absolutely crushes my knees and it's so painful. I'm 5'10" with long legs. It most certainly makes less room for the legs at the point of the knees, which is where the seat in front reclines.

the default position of seats these days literally hunches the neck forward. my back starts seizing up into a knot from the moment I sit down, until the headrest can be moved back several inches.

@@wendigo1919 I actually have very long legs . If I have an overweight flight I prefer the isle so I can stretch my legs to the isle . And it never bothers me if the person in front of me reclines the sit. I just stretch my legs under the sit in front of me 🤷♀️

If I wanted to recline my seat, I would definitely ASK the person behind me if it's ok with them. I was raised in the Deep South (USA) where manners and etiquette are everything.

When someone decides to read in an overnight flight and decides to turn on their reading light

Don’t worry I recline immediately. And the person in front of me usually reclines their seat too and it’s not an issue. Also, nothing sucks more than being tall on a plane. When your knees hit the seat in front of you almost no matter what.

What about travellers from certain country/region who have a very strong axillary/shoulder smell coz of their spicy diet and one can't stant that smell ???!!!! an emergency perfume??? What do you suggest?
@dogtrainingmexico19 күн бұрын
You just need to be tolerant of those travelers my dear. You yourself may have certain odors or aspects of your physical appearance that others find objectionable...

Oh I totally see where you’re coming from. Some smells just give me headaches and make me sneeze, and I’ve definitely had experiences on international flights where foreign scents, spices, and plain BO was really irritating. Hopefully a flight attendant can find another seat if it’s too bad :/

Bring a vial of essential oil or something you can smell to relieve your senses, apply to a hankerchief

11. dont 💩 on a flight. Do that at home before leaving. 12. Don’t do your hair or full skincare routine on a flight. 13. Make sure your body odor is in check. As someone who has a naturally strong scent, I understand this can be harder for some people. But, figure it out. 14. Being a messy eater or bringing food onto a flight that has a really strong smell.

I haven't flown in years & it appears the milieu has really deteriorated recently! I'd have to save & go business or first class--& then pray for the best!

You really should! Haven't flown in 8 years, and I'm really praying I can afford business class! Passengers have become increasingly rude and selfish

The purfume thing is so true!! The girl next to me on my last trip home from Japan to Australia was wearing a sweet sweet honey purfume and I had to talk to the flight attendant really quietly if there was a chance I could move (and I am a purfume lover people…) and I was so motion sick from it… but in the end, I just had to deal with it as it was a fairly full flight.

Really enjoy your advice and this may have been mentioned previously. But, I can’t go away without adding to the hair comments. People with long lair many times have a tendency to toss it over the back of the seat into someone’s tray. Once a ponytail hit me in the face and another in my food and yet another in my drink. Terrible!

It's like a lot of people nowadays are completely oblivious when it comes to etiquette. We have become a society of me, me, me, which is fine if you want to live that way i guess, but when you start infringing on other ppl's rights, that's a problem. I mean, grown adults who don't pick up their trash, & yes, i've had those inconsiderate ppl who recline the whole flight, without a care in the world, & some have the audacity to take off their shoes while doing it.....i could go on & on 😵💫

I stopped flying myself and my family in economy over this past year because of pretty much every reason you have listed in this video. Our society could give two craps about being civil anymore. Between the chewing, perfume, women clacking their nails, limited space, etc I can’t do it anymore. First class/private or bust!

I also have decided just to limit my travel now. Between seat kickers, recliners during dinner service, coughing the whole time - sniffing, nose blowing, I just cannot anymore.
