Lol first minute and I'm already out. Tubliss is badass. Install it once and every tire change after is easier, traction is superior duet to lower tire pressure, and if you do get a puncture flat it stays on the rim. Been running them for a decade.

Yeah, only bikes they make more power is 150cc or less. Think it’s cause they have less intake volume and produce less Venturi effect and the Lectron seems to aid in vaporization of the fuel in those instances. Another thing to consider is lower fuel to air ratio will also increase the heat generated in the burn process. Not to mention skew your premix ratio.

Agreed, oil is oil. All automotive oils have way more protection than a healthy dirt bike engine needs. The only thing keeping me from running car oil in my bike is the clutch incompatibility. Diesel oil cost about the same and it's in 90% of stores that carry some kind of oil. Buying "motorcycle" oil that's meeting the same requirements as diesel oils isn't going to make your engine last an extra 500 hours between rebuilds.

First off I'm not gonna apologize for loving my tudeless setup... I've got a set with atleast 300 hours on them and have also been switched from my '17 to '22. I don't have problems taking off tires and then remounting based on sand or rocks. Use a stand and good technique and patience. Problem solved. I do use Yamaha tire mount spray to keep things greasy on installation and removal. Change the inner high pressure tube every year or two as recommended in the instructions. I also apply Stan's Notube while seating the rim instead of soapy water. A little messy but it works better also. Once the tire is seated I will pull the core on the tire inlet and add a couple ounces of Stan's for cactus protection. Carry a plug kit and mini pump on the bike also. Air up the high pressure tube to 110 psi every ride and check and adjust tire pressure as needed. Guys who don't do this have problems. 9.5 in back and 11.5 up front and I'm good to go... Well... Still running my '13 model Lectron.

Haha. Nice list. Only one I’ll debate is fork skins. I do admit they can and often do trap debris. And they add a slight amount of stiction. They also work. I’ll go an entire season with same seals, in the PNW where it’s always muddy somewhere on the ride and that mud will dry on the base of your forks, and when you get a full travel moment the fork skins remove that sharp dried splatter before it eats your seals and nearly eliminates the possibility of leaking forks. I care more about keeping my front brake working well to finish my race more than the added cleaning step or added friction.

We have learned in Hard Enduro that it is true that Evans doesn’t boil but it also doesn’t cool as well. We mix 70:1 Pure Glycol and Distilled water. Keeps the motor the coolest and if it does boil to the over flow tank you know its getting too hot. We have DNF’d with melted seals and hoses with Evans. Maxima Super M 60:1 burns so clean, makes a crisp throttle response. Maxima in the 4t too You, can tell Stu Baylor to stop using the Trials tire to win NEPG tests The RAGE PAGE did good getting the comments up.

Hahahahh. Yep. That was the point. I agree about Evans getting hot. That’s actually why I won’t put it in a 4T bike ever. Only 2T because they just don’t get as hot and I like fans for that reason too. As far as best cooling, I’ve never done it but the top fuel drag guys run water and water wetter. Problem is that it will freeze. And as far as I’m concerned, Stu could win on a bald Moto tire but if he likes trials tires then fine. I hate them for my skill level and terrain

I agree with most of these. I do use a SC2 on my bike. Mainly the ease of going altitude to altitude with ease. I’m capable of rejetting but choose the easier choice. I’m not a fast enough rider to notice power losses. Second, I run a bib in the front where it takes the hardest hits but still have Tubliss in the rear. Partly because I just chose it first, but otherwise I like the option to change the pressure on the Fly for grip, but realize there’s more potential for flats.
@SkinnySkinch
@SkinnySkinch Жыл бұрын
Yeah a lot of these are basically just opinionated opinions and not based in fact. He also is a west coast guy so he has no idea what single track actually is lol east coast single track Tubliss does provide an advantage in terms of grip and pinch flats etc. Also for example if I was running a normal tube in my race a few races back I would have DNF'd for the 5th test. Instead I just put a car style rubber plug in my tire and aired it back up and was able to finish the race. I actually left the plug in there and raced that tire in 2 more races so far no issues holding air. Thirdly about tubliss I find tire changes infinitely easier with tubliss than with tubes or mousse.
@charlesgunzelman3323

@@SkinnySkinch agreed, I don't think the tubliss is complicated. Sure, it was complicated the first time I put it together, but every time after that it was the same effort as a normal tube. I also run a tube in the front and tubliss in the back.

I agree with most of this. I have a trials bike but trials tires do suck on dirt bikes. My biggest gripe is that they slide out from under with any side load, especially in grass or mud. I had a lectron on a bike I bought once. It did well but when my carburetorated TX-300 carb got wonky a jetting kit solved the issue perfectly. I haven't tried tubeless. 4-5 psi works great on my trials bike but even Ryan Young said those tires are designed to perform in a certain psi range. I'd assume the same to be true with knobs. The other things on the list I've not had enough interest to try. Oh the same bike that had the Lectron had Midwest levers. They didn't bother me but I haven't bought a set since. Most of my riding buddies who try the products and swear by them seem to be looking for a quick fix to putting in peg time and learning proper techniques

I disagree regarding premix. The ratios are based on the chemistry/formulation of the individual premix oil. Over the years when different ratios were rated for 2 strokes, it was due to the chemistry of the oil that was being used. If you use the same ratio on different premix oils, you will get different results - some will run clean, some will foul plugs more, some will ooze out your muffler, some will run clean, some will run better and some will run worse. KTM - for example - states their premix ratios in their manuals based upon Motorex's oil formulation. I also used to think that it was solely based on what the manual said to run ratio-wise. I mean, back in the day you would run 20:1 because oil didn't protect nearly as well as today's formulations do. Now granted, if you veer too far off ratio-wise what your bike was jetted for, then one would have to richen or lean out your jetting accordingly. And didn't you used to run a Lectron on your bike? Not all of us can afford the newer snazzy fuel injected machines 😂
@dalepetersen6533
@dalepetersen6533 Жыл бұрын
20:1 ??? yikes. That crazy! Oil doesn't keep the bike for overheating. Gas is also part of the cooling system on old air cooled 2 strokes. too much oil and not enough gas and you could burn a piston easy. The oil might kill the plug ( if lucky)!!

I finally got around to watching this highly talked about video. OMG!!! Rotella is certified for wet clutches. In fact Shell officially supported it in motorcycles / wet clutches 20 years ago on a forum they had. I've been running it in my street bikes that had way more power then a dirt bike will never see at speed a dirt bike can only dream of...LOL It's my go to oil, it's honestly not cheap like it used to be. 2.5 Gal container is like $50 after tax at Wal-Mart (was there buying Rotella yesterday). Premix - No clue I run 50:1 as that is what the 2012 GasGas called for and the Beta calls for. I have run everything from AMSOil Dominator and Interceptor to Saber (although at 50:1). AMSOil a few years back changed it to not include High Performance dirtbikes. I was running Lucas premix, seemed good but got Motul last round and I couldn't find Lucas. TUBliss - I know you HATE with a passion the TUBliss system. I think TUBliss must have touched in in a naughty place a few times. 100,000 miles on TUBliss on that XR650R and it was fine. I run TUBliss on my Beta, no issues. I've gotten a hole in the rear tire and if you run slime or TireJect its sealed and you continue on. Works great for off-road and on road but you do need to add wheel weights to counter the huge rim lock. I myself have had great success with TUBliss. SmartCarb - I know nothing of Lectron other then it's more complicated to adjust then SmartCarb. I have great luck with SmartCarbs, I want to ride I don't want to mess with jets etc. You seem to worry about power, you are going to go fast no matter what it ain't going to be noticeable power of more or less. Right now the Beta is factory carb with some Suzuki needle and I forget what jet size and it's works fine. Bar Risers - Not something I do. More popular in the Dual Sport circles and ADV circles. What people don't get is sometimes you add risers you need longer cables to really have them worth with the throttle well. I don't see the need, unlike Dual Sporting riding 30-60 miles of singletrack you don't really need them not like you are going 300 miles for the day. Evans - I've run it in my bikes. No issues. Distilled water is your best bet actually for cooling, just plain water offers the best cooling, anti freeze is for just that cold temps. So if you run straight up water in the summer and empty it for CO winters and then put Anti Freeze in you are fine. Some will go on about rust inhibitors. Not must to rust in a Aluminum engine and radiators, this ain't 1980 Buick Town & Country. 10 Things I Hate - Foam Tire inserts, TPI Bikes, Cone Valves, KTMs, Dealers, Bikes with no Kickstart, Factory Seats, Motul Oil, Highland Cycles, and Finally Brady

I really enjoy tubliss 😂had good luck with 1 actual tubliss failure in 250 hours of running it front and rear...Also love my lectron! Got it setup right away and haven't touched it in 250hrs. Bike runs the same day in and day out, great fuel economy!

Heck yeah firm believer in dirt tread on every thing from my moms sporty because we live in country to dirt tread and tossing lugs off on a ninja and fzr but i have put a trials bike tire on a kx 250 it was shit everywhere but the skatepark and staircases and some cool ledges in campus town and through the city but yes trials tire on dirt is worthless. Only did it for hooliganism and went straight in to winter with fully studded geotraxx

I agree about the Notsosrmartcarbs/Lectrons. What blows my mind is paying a fortune to switch from FI to carburetion & then choosing smartcarbs over the better proven Keihin. I love bar risers & lowering pegs though.

I agree with most of this. Bar Risers.... I wouldn't have them. I do however run a sub mount damper. Raises the bars 20mm I think. Not a ton and frankly. I'm too cheap to get a bar with a flatter bend in it that takes it down the 20 mm back to stock. Not a huge difference. Just run with it..... I do use the engine ice. The rest I agree with. Tried the Rotella stuff just to see what the hype was about... didn't like it. No opposed to the different levers if only so I can run them closer to the bars for my stubby fingers. I find I can't run the stock one close with it not having enough throw. Never tried them though.

I agree mostly but I like Tubliss better than tubes but it is high maintenance. Bibs are nice for peace of mind though. I've tried Rotella T synthetic in 4 stroke snowbikes and it works fine. Spending $20 a quart on oil you change every other ride isn't that bright either. Totally agree on the Saber though. I never mix at least 50:1. Any leaner is dumb IMO. I would probably be doing 32 or 40 on a 125/150 or an MX bike.

Been riding dirt bikes ( mostly 2 strokes ) different brands over 30 years. My best advice is follow what the manufacturer/ engineers who built the motor tell you 👍🏼. I have always used synthetic motor/ premix oils routine maintenance, fresh non ethanol gas and never have any transmission / motor issues or fouled a pug since the 80s. Had a friend ( ( that guy who knows more than the manufacturer) put transmission oil in his KTM 300 and sure enough after a few hours lost first gear ⚙️. When he drained it metal chunks fell out.

An oil isn't going to be at fault for losing a gear in the trans. There's so many people that run ATF for dirt drags. The wouldn't be running it if the trans needed a rebuild every other weekend. I don't personally run ATF because it doesn't agree with my woods riding by changing the clutch feel too much.

MORGAN I HAVE to comment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE the video, huge thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've used LOTs of rotella when I had a large truck, I even used it in everything, lol I do spend some $$ on 7100 too. My lawnmower still gets Rotella(I prob have a 10 year supply for the mower, lol) Gummy tires rock!!!!!!!!!!! I have one trail bike, mousse up front, Tubliss in the back with a gummy, I think I sleep better the night before a ride with my faster friends, I'm afraid of no amount of wet collected baby heads on the trail, lol. I'm kind of a mousse noob, haven't tried a rear plushie yet. I've had Tubliss failures, but its always my fault, slime in the HP bladder can make valves leak(but it did stop the psi slow leaking). I've bought a used bike with midwest levers, no failure yet(knock on wood), lol, I don't mind them, won't replace them until I break them. My buddies think it's good bling, so I'm in their head while riding. It's been a while since I've mixed gas, but I smile every time when I smell Klotz!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a slow Mtn bike, I love it SO MUCH, I bought an ebike, I should get it a bigger motor(at least 350xc ISH). (they are getting better) I run fans, and engine ICE, so far the kids haven't used the blue stuff in their cars, so the BLU is working. (Kids, BLU goes in bikes, lol) Thanks for the smiles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No hate here

I no longer have a 2 smoke but every one I had got klotz mix. I ride an old but minty ktm 400exc and it does everything ok and nothing horrible ....but I'm not young and able to use a kicker or do running push and hop onto a bike that is resisting a restart after a hot stall or dumping and am spoiled with elec starting and wide ratio gearbox and a broad rpm range of power that's stronger than 125 2smoke and close to 250 2smoke but without the 250s missing end low torque. Until it dies and is too old to locate parts I can't justify putting the ol girl up for sale and spend crazy $ for a new 450 or a fuel injected 2smoker....just can't do it

Rotella makes sense when you aren't lazy and change it frequently. I have 400 hours on my TRX 450. When I did a top end it didn't even need it. Same with clutch plates. You should start using it and find out for yourself.

I don't find that they gather any more dirt than the rest of the bike. Haven't noticed any scratches but have saved the swingarms. Honestly I like the look and don't do enough hard stuff to break them off. So they work for me. I can see how they could come off in heavy rock riding.
