I really love how you spell out why I don't care for this game. I don't mind punishing hard games as long there is a story to make it worthwhile. with Elden Ring there is just no reason to put yourself through all the frustration. People say 'it feels soooooooo good when you finally beat that boss''. No, it feels quite underwhelming actually without a comprehensive story to put your victory into context. Besides this, I must honestly admit, I am quite a lazy gamer ;)

Haha I am here for the stories, but sometimes I go full hardcore mode and just want to prove a point (like finishing the Witcher III on Death March Mode). If I was going to go hard for one of these games, it would likely be Bloodborne. The worldbuilding is just amazing in that game, and I've played a little bit of it already.

Thank you for saying your honest opinion about the game. I love this game and it will be one of my all time favorites but I also believe it has some real issues which were also present in the previous titles, some of them really annoy me like the vague and very hard to follow questlines and sometimes annoying combat controls, but honestly, most of these problem can be easily fixed and overcome. You can turn off the auto lock on, you can hold the item switch botton to quickly switch to heal, you can avoid fat rolling and roll spams and.... You can change your play style to help you, for example: spend more runes into leveling up "vigor". Because the difference between sustaining 3 hits and 5 hits from the boss before u die, is HUGE, you get to study the attack patterns for much longer. What would be the cost? You deal 350 dmg instead of 500, which doesnt matter at all! Thats a couple more hits untill they go down. Trust me, its an awesome game, try to overcome the challenges, its worth it

You can turn off the automatic lock on. true. i neither care about becoming the elden lord. most likely some random mob would still be stronger than my stats at the end of game. about skeaning: It´s Elden Ring not Elden Creed

I would totally play Elden Creed... I often don't play with the automatic lock on, mostly just for illustrative purposes here.

I have been a fan of FromSoftware's Souls series for a while. With that being said there exists many underlying issues with their games, including Elden Ring. It's interesting to hear valid complaints and the valid reasons you don't like Elden Ring. I think from the get go the souls series was meant to be a somewhat niche product, which there's nothing wrong with, that blown up. Your opinoins on the game make sense to me, and it boils down to different sensibilites with different people. Great video all in all. I only have one real gripe. How can anyone list Pope Turtle as a negative? You had me up until then, lol.

You should give it another try! Leaping into Elden Ring as your first Souls is definitely a challenge but overtime you'll get it! A couple things I noticed that you could improve on are drop your equip load as well as try to avoid spam rolling. In one of your clips you were "fat rolling". This will make fights much harder since a high equip load makes you super sluggish. You can get a faster roll by either dropping your equip load, or increasing your endurance. Additionally you should try to avoid spam rolling. This game REALLY punishes you for panic rolling, rather try dodging right before the attack (easier said then done I know lol). As others have said, familiarize yourself with the menu and those awkward heals will become less common! If you haven't already, you can also change the lock on options through the in- game settings menu. Most importantly, never give up! Eventually you'll learn each enemy and the fights will go much smoother. If all that fails, get a friend and play the game together! While its a little hard at first, I still strongly recommend you give the game another chance!

The fat roll is real lol! Those clips make me laugh so much - my husband sometimes has his character play without pants for the load. 😂 I have been tempted to give it another go. Maybe I'll fall in love with it and my next video will be about how I'm now a FromSoft diehard. Totally open to change!

I didn't like dark souls when I first played it. I came back to it a couple months later and kinda just kept beating my head against the wall. After a bit it wasn't as hard, then I had beat a couple of bosses. Before I knew it dark souls and souls like game are some of my favorite games I have ever played. I really came to embrace "git gud" some people think its just a dismissive phrase, but to me it means, learning, struggling, and finally persevering over the challenge. If you haven't played any of the dark souls or sekiro, maybe give them a shot and come back to elden ring again later? It could also boil down to, souls like games just are not for you, not the end of the world, but they are amazing games.

Thanks heaps for the thoughtful comment. I'm not sure that these games are for me, but I do love the art direction especially of Bloodborne and Dark Souls. I think they just cross a point of frustration for me which makes me cranky as a player, and I'd rather be a bit more relaxed gaming tbh. I actually don't mind watching them being played.

This is a well done video I loved the game first 150 hours but then started to struggle with it. NG+ and PvP aren't great nor is replayability. There's quite a bit of cut and pasting too. Not sure the massive scale was warranted. But still is an impressive achievement.

i mean these points are valid but they are true of every other from soft game and for someone who has been playing these games for years i do think it is the culmination of everything they have been working on. it’s clunky and the stories i have had to read about or watch videos for but for me at least that is part of the appeal. sekiro is also a wonderful game and challenging but an entirely different vibe, i would recommend that over the souls and bloodborne games if you don’t like this one!

Sekiro is gorgeous - I've watched it played and love the world building. Same for Bloodborne. And I'm cool with people liking this style of game, I think part of my regret is that I really want to love it, but there are just those small things that turn me off.

@@KatClay all jokes aside Kat a few of your gripes can be sorted out by just familiarizing yourself with the menu system. From a lifetime fan of the series, Elden Ring is definitely a little different but uping your skills in it will drastically change the experience. There's people who parry with there right hand then go into the equipment menu to change there weapons to hit the reposte with so I can't help but say again "git gud" once you do that Elden Ring changes your life forever. The npc quests alone will quite Literally alter the way you think
