Supermarket fruit goes off very quickly. If you can find a fruit shop that is better. Using the fridge for most fruit extends the life.

Buy food from green grocer for fresher fruit and vegetables. Supermarket produce has been in storage or in transit for a long time. Also, room temperature in much of Oz is warmer than UK. So food left in fruit bowls is on power decay. Especially if kept near apples. Buy small batches to eat immediately then replenish from green grocer. Fridges dry produce more quickly.

Slip, Slop, Slap with that Sun screen in Australia is a must. The more the better. I am in Victoria where the weather can be cold one day and 40 degrees the following day

the cockroaches are very regional - Sydney is especially bad (due to the humidity) but I am in Canberra - which is dry and almost cockroach free (if you are clean)

Ive lived in 20 countries and very much agree with both this video and the 10 likes video. Australia is amazing and the safety aspect is such a number one for me. Re the ozone layer, there are no countries without an ozone layer. Though sun damage is a concern, the ozone hole has never reached Australia. And contrary to another popular belief - it is not a hole that exists all year round.

and it's bigger over NZ... but we don't care as Aussies.. it's one of the best places in the world. I prefer NZ, but don't like the weather! I now live 40 minutes outside Brizzie and like it compared to Sydney for reasons I will not comment here..

Born and lived here all my 75 years. I can't disagree with you in the main. As for birds I like it the way it is. Cost of living can be ridiculous and there is a suggestion that the duopoly that exists here is the problem. Woolworths and Coles are not out to make life easier. Their prices are way too high and they take advantage of little competition. I understand the ACCC is looking into it too. The sun, yes, it can be severe. We have the worst rates of melanoma in the world. I have travelled a lot around the world and I wouldn't live anywhere else though. Hope everything works out for you.

Request fly screens doors on your patio that will stop birds, cockroaches and insects coming into your apartment and try shopping at ALDI they are cheaper especially for dishwashing tablets.

Eventually you can get rid of cockroaches if your fastidious about food particles. If you want things cheap you have to look around a bit re( disher washer tablets and a whole lot more). The sun is strong however the hole in the Ozone layer over Australia vhad closed up. Making friends here is the same as anywhere else; You have to get out mix more develop interests of your own and a future plan with goals and new interests... Unconditional love is the only thing in life that that is worthwhile; Every thing else involves putting yourself out to some degree.😊.

In my experience the worst drivers are Aussie born and bred tradies who think they own the road.

Worst Aussie drivers are the look at me idiots who try to drive those ridiculous oversize Yank ute tanks that take up three quarters of your neighbourhood streets and keep on barreling straight towards you. Especially the wives of executives who buy one to tow their oversized boat that's only used once then parked in full view like a trophy next to their exec tank.

The Bird. I thought it was a Magpie, but I'm pretty sure it's a Magpie Lark. We called them Peewees when we were kids because of their call. You need a screen on your balcony door. It will keep the bugs, and the birds, out. Most of our fruit and vegetables are seasonal, and come from Australia. Maybe you should ask why the fresh produce in the UK doesn't go off. If it's going off too quickly, you probably bought stuff that was too ripe, which is OK if you eat it quickly, store it in the fridge, or cut it up and freeze it. Just buy fruit that isn't as ripe, and let it ripen at home. The reason the Sun is so strong here is because the Earth's orbit isn't a perfect circle, and our Summer coincides with the Earth being closest to the Sun (Perihelion). It's only 3% closer, but it causes a 7% increase in solar UV intensity. Prices for sure. I go to the supermarket, get a few items (some on special), and the cost still surprises me.

Hi really need help. I want to live in Australia for good but I’m going to do the working holiday visa for a year then hopefully another 2 but after that’s done is it possible to gain permanent residency after it without a trade/skill or family over there???? I really want to move for good and I’m very new to this I don’t really understand everything

Yeah that rain period lasted 18 months, I have lived in Australia all my 64 years and never experienced rain like that, not even close. Usually 7 / 10 days of blue Sky's 1/2 days of rain, Climate change?

I believe the Government maintains a list of desirable skills in need for immigrants and provides a streamlined and cheaper process for people possessing those qualifications. But yes, it is rather convoluted and confusing. The new government is trying to sort out the mess they inherited.

I agree with most of your observations but the Ozone layer was never a problem in Oz, It was further south, and Australia is just closer to the Equator than you are used to.

Fly screens, why are there no screens on your balcony door? That is un-Australian LOL, Request one ASAP, reduce the bugs, and stop the birds coming in, although that was pretty funny, it crapped everywhere because it was scared, they tend to do that LOL

The only way to burn in England (I guess) is to go through a burning house. In Australia 10 minutes under the sun, you can burn and get melanoma.

Fruit and vegetables normally last a week or 2 to 3 weeks in the fridge . If you go to the supermarket and see special and quick sale , they only last for a day . People buy them because they are cheap . Uk weather generally is cooler so the fruit and vegetables may not rot so quickly . Supermarkets store produce for a period of time in their cool rooms , so I never buy from them , because they are nit fresh . I buy my fruit and veg from Flemington markets Sydney but direct from the growers. The produce lady 2 to 3 weeks , so I never have that problem . Most people in Australia obey road rules . The worst drivers are people who come from countries that have no real road rules and they drive all over the place .So when they move to Australia , they drove like back in their birth country . There is even bad drivers in the UK . You can find this problem everywhere .No country is perfect on this planet and if we learn to accept it , it makes life much easier . You have done terrific job promoting and appreciating the beauty of Australia . You have put a lot of time and effort into your videos . So give yourself a pat on your back .

Magpies (the birds) swoop during mating season between August and October if you are near their nests or if they see you as a threat. As far as roaches, I live in Victoria and have not seen a roach in the 10 years I've been here. Maybe it's to do with the climate in NSW? You should also include on your list that some Aussies don't know how to take criticism. Its just sad!

The "Bird" is a Magpie. Leave your door OPEN and they may come in l👀king for food. Cock Roaches are almost zero in Melbourne. I know they are almost everywhere in Sydney. So it varies depending on where you live. Australia is tuff on Immigrants that come here and then end up on 'benefits', which taxpayers have to pay for !

Feed the bird a bit of fresh raw meet one day. Then wait a week and leave another piece. You don’t want them hanging around day and night, like my sister who feeds about a dozen magpies morning and night. But if the bird associates you with positives, it won’t swoop. Since you are a male, the bird may feel threatened by your aroma. Help it to relax.

Hope life gets better for you, even as a Australian born here, i agree we are more expensive than most countries, I have lots of relatives all over Europe as my parents are from Scandinavia, Germany, food is way cheaper in Germany and don't talk about alcohol and cigarettes, way more expensive. Wages are better than average and taxes are less than both Germany and Sweden. Birds are great here and noisy, but that makes us unique, Europeans cant believe how noisy birds here are, been swooped many times but only during mating and nesting season. In Melbourne you will not need sun screen that often and i am North European, hats, long sleeve between 12 and 5pm. Few huntsman in the house as normal, but they eat your cockroaches and leave you alone.

The ozone layer thing here in Australia aint true. This was years ago but now the ozone layer is better now over Australia. Its not a hole but thinning of the layer and Antarctica is where it's at its thinnest.

Mate I do agree with you about some drivers, but I have noticed most of the lousy drivers are people that have come to a Aust from over seas and are on international licenses and this backed up by a number of police I have spoken to but we do have bad Aussie drivers as well, If you ever travel down the Great Ocean Road you will be intrigued to see signs everywhere reminding you that in Aust, we drive on the left side of the road. One other thing I don't know if you have travelled through Asia at all over the years we have and if you want to see bad and dangerous driving go there its an art form.

Yes, fruit and veg in Australia doesn’t taste as good as European nations. Do a comparison with minimum wage, median wage and income tax, GST/VAT and council taxes. Do a comparison with government pension payments and retirement funds (superannuation & the UK one).

Fresh produce! - It’s because we export all the good stuff overseas! We moved from England years ago and my mum was horrified because Aussie fruit in England was awesome. Find a good market and you’ll be ok. Southern hemisphere- I can never tan, I overheat and burn. Northern hemisphere I can get a deep tan.

It's always amusing to me when people move half way around the world then are surprised things aren't the same as from where they're from. I was kind of with you at the start, then you just got silly. And then you just out and out lied. 1. Australia is huge with a lot of inhospitable land. Yes, it is not going to be "walkable" in quite a lot of places. We do have good PT in areas and terrible in others, so it can be hit and miss. But as I said, Australia is huge. Yes our drivers suck. Watch one video on dashcams Australia and you'll see just how bad some are. Or just look at our road toll. 2. Our weather is defined by our location on earth. It's not something we can control. Get over it. 3. As per point 2, but change weather to location. If you want to live closer to home, why did you travel half way around the world? 4. Our wildlife. Really? How about just getting a mesh sliding door? 5. Buy fresh produce from a fruit store or fresh farmers market. Store said items in the fridge. 6. Maybe instead of expecting others to come to you, join some social groups and make an effort to get to know others and make friends. You know, how people did before the internet? 7. Things in Australia are expensive and travel is even worse. Yes flights are expensive and there is probably some price gouging going on, but you can find cheap flights. Or just drive. Or get a greyhound bus. 8. Our immigration policy doesn't have a great track record. 9. The sun? Oh FFS. Slip, slop, slap. Easy. No ozone layer over Australia? Are you smoking crack? No, really, are you smoking crack? 10. Our cost of living is terrible. Agreed. Some of that is due to transport and import costs, some is due to price gouging. But if you plan your shopping you can get some good deals. You list things here that are quite petty and in the case of the ozone layer are just factually wrong. You seemed quite self absorbed with things that make your life easier and to be honest, kinda not surprised you're having issues making friends. You chose to make this video and you chose what to put on this list. You said you have been living here for two years and this is the best you can do? Some superficial crap and a lie? You must have a decent understanding of Australia by now and could have talked about much better things but instead you chose to complain about our weather and the distance it is from the UK.
