NHTSA and EPA regulations are killing the ability for companies to provide reliable, durable 4x4's with equal or higher power than previous models... Even my 2017 tacoma was absurd, the first Toyota 4x4 I've ever owned where my stud welder for dent pulling would just melt through even on LOW with small pins! 🤦♂️ Every year mileage requirements go up, mandatory safety equipment and testing goes up... Really we've been past the point of no return of having no "real" 4x4's since roughly 2010... If only we had exemptions for REAL Toyota 4x4s like Australia and South Africa... Atleast Ford tried with the Raptor, and Dodge with the power wagon until the EPA necessitated the gas powered ecoboost and terrible transmission... Ford didn't have the best history of reliability before being hampered by having to pair up that combo to maintain the same power levels at a higher EPA spec'd MPG rating... And Dodge died as soon as FIAT took over... RIP Bronco owner's wallets is all I can say 😐 Thanks EPA 👍 now go give some more tax credits to Amazon and Walmart who import everything on cargo ships burning millions of gallons of unrestricted crude oil and low grade diesel so we can have landfills full of un-repairable, single use import products... Great "Green" initiative EPA 👏

Hey max, I hope you see this comment. So I have quite a bit of experience with these 22 tundras my friend jus got 2, a limited TRD Off-Road and he traded in his 2019 1794 for a 2022 TRD Pro, I have been test driving the limited for almost a month now. And to address some of your concerns, the truck does beep at you a lot but for most of these things you can simply just turn them off, like all the safer gadgets that freak out when you’re off-road, for example, lane centering assist etc, they all can be turned and they won’t bother you. Secondly the TRD Off-Road while it has the name off-road in it, it’s more of an appearance package as I have discovered, it doesn’t really make the truck any more off-road capable than a bone stock, I mean it adds the more off-road tires and crawl control but that’s about it, to really get the best out of a TRD-off-road it has to be lifted with better tires as my friend and I found out while taking it off-road bone stock, it scraped and banged on a lot of things, but once the lift kit went on it, it changed into a different truck, also the front bumper on these 22’s are pretty low to the ground for efficiency sake so if you don’t wanna scrape it, it’s most likely would have to be modified. For the android auto disconnecting, I have figured out that it mostly happenes when you wirelessly connect to it, so most of the time using the cable solves that issue, I’ve also had the same problem in a lot of BMW’s where android auto or apple car play just disconnected on me while I was using it, and switching to the wired connection helps, and the problem can be fixed with an OTA update. Regarding the check engine light, same thing happened to my friends Limited Off-Road, it came on while we were driving, tried to restart the truck that didn’t change anything, we took it into the dealership and they ran a scan on it, nothing came up, it happened to just be a glitch for us. So i would say you should try to run a diagnostic check to see what the problem may possibly be. I feel this is the case that happens with any first year vehicle, same thing happens when the previous Gen tundra came out, it had its own fair share of issues but they were all worked out in a year or 2, same thing goes for any brand really, Ford has had a bunch recalls on the new F-150, it’s what happens when you get an all new vehicle, essentially the customers are the beta testers which sucks cos customers who get the bad example have a soured experience of the brand. In the case of the tundra, I have noticed that the trucks who were made the earliest seem to have the most amount problems, while the latter made trucks, have less problems. I have seen people who have had nothing to say but good things about the tundra on KZbin and I’ve seen people who have had problems. I’m really sorry your truck hasn’t been making you happy, hopefully things would turn around. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the tundra I test drove for quite some time and I’m looking into getting one for myself l, preferably a TRD Pro, Capstone or 1794. I think the new tundra is still a great truck, it’s pretty darn fast for what it is, the interior is miles and miles better than the previous Gen, it rows more, which is very important to me and it’s a lot more comfortable than the last generation. I’ve had a lot of seat time in the last Gen and I can confirm that. I also think it looks better but that’s a controversial opinion 😂. People like to hate on the new thing especially on the internet which made me start to doubt the new trucks but once I test drove one, I fell in love.

In all Toyotas it’s annoying, I turned it off cause on the merge lanes for freeways, it would try to turn me back into the lane instead of merging. If you have the turning lights in, no problem but when you don’t, it forces you back into your lane. I hate the seatbelt reminder cause I have a child, and when she’s not with me sometimes, the car registers weight so it starts beeping and after a minute it’ll turn off, but seems now with the newer safety sense versions, they’re going to kill you with noises 😂

You can turn off Lane keep beep 4. You can buy a buckle for any car on Amazon for the seat belt sensors. 5. Auto headlights are standard on every trim, rain sensing wipers are not. This video is sensationalized for views(i get it), most things are non issues, driver error, or easily adjusted if you read the owners manual to maybe learn how your new truck works. Test drive a truck before you buy, don't like the view from the drivers seat or the led lights inside the cab, or want to go overlanding but get the worst light duty truck for turning radius and payload then it's on you not the truck.

Automatic parking brakes - for hell's sake, when did we hit the point where we couldn't pull a lever? I owned a Range Rover Evoque - it had the same type of parking brake. I once was trying to do a time-lapse photography shoot up in cold, windy Montana. Set the tripod up, got the camera firing off and went to jump back in the Evoque, only to discover that the door was just a bit too close to the tripod. I could NOT move the vehicle because I couldn't close the door. Stupid how these manufacturers are taking manual control away from some of the most critical elements. I've got a 2017 Tacoma, and sometimes it just won't go into 4-low, it'll just sit and beep like that. Give me a lever hooked to the transfer case and I'm a happy boy! But put the computers in charge of every little function and it's nothing but frustration if you ever actually take the things off road where you're supposed to be able to use things like 4-low or maybe just make your own decision about when the parking brake needs to be engaged. They seem to be taking a lot of the functionality out of everything, so every damn fool can call himself an off-roader on that one weekend a year that he actually drives on a gravel road... Grrr...

I’m a Toyota guy but I don’t think I can bring myself to buy a Tundra like this, unless at the very least a good tuner is available to fix these electronic issues.

I’ve got a 2003 with 250k , rides better than most cars, totally reliable, v8 is probably going to outlast the new whoosy turbo 6 cylinders. It’s been outside in the elements for 17 years, 10 of which are in Florida a quarter mile from the beach, and paint is still pretty good , only rust spots are from road rash. Still looks good. My niece bought one on my recommendation and after 4 years and 350k, she welds all over the country , no problems. she traded it for a Dodge Ram because she liked the ram appearance . It stranded her on highway twice the first year

A lot of those stuff you speak about you can turn off. The lane departure and that auto break. Not an issue. But those other stuff you complained about definitely. The pay for nav, the dimensions. How low the off-road is to the ground, the horrible break over angles, especially the front end.

This is the BEST video so far of a real world Tundra review. I was sooooo wanting one until I searched for things like this. The daily annoyances of new cars are so overwhelming, that I've wanted to sell a truck just to stop the warning beeps. Luckily Fords have the free Forscan app to turn off most of this crap as I was about ready to ditch my F150, but I'm not sure if there's any software for Toyotas. I guess we'll just have to look for low mileage 2012 vehicles before they forgot how to build a vehicle that people actually want. Thank you AGAIN for making this. You literally just stopped my Tundra search over about 7 of those 10 hated things that I totally agree with!

Its everything I wanted in the truck and lotta things that you discussed about the alarms and sensors I have Don’t have those issues. I would see if I could trade it out for a 21. Just saying. Awesome video! Always enjoy seeing peoples perspectives or takes on things. I virtually have the same exact truck. I have the SR5 that is upgraded to the max | basically a limited trim level. I do NOT have any of the beeping you are getting while you drive. To help you out, maybe try turning off the lane assist? That is the first thing I did. The ONLY time my truck beeps is when I am in reverse. Secondly I thought the automatic air-dam [under the bumper] was only on the Sport packages | not on the Off Road Packages [Mine does NOT have one]? Not saying you are incorrect- maybe its a limited trim level thing? I know you are pretty well versed in truck knowledge- this is more of a question to anyone that knows for certain. Regardless- awesome video | great content! I hope the truck works out for you in the end!

I have the exact same truck. Simply turn off the features you don’t want on and the noise goes away. His noises are primarily caused by motion detection. And, while driving forward or backward, with the door open, I’m glad the brake engages.

Thought about taking advantage of current prices, selling my raptor for a profit and getting one of these. Held off to wait for the reviews and early impressions. So far I just don't see any world where I'd get rid of a truck that does almost everything right for one that does so many things wrong. One thing you didn't mention but that is important in snowy areas like the mountains where I live.... No 4A mode, they're still having you shift in and out of 2H and 4H. As much as I like the Tundra, I’m not too sure I could go with the newer models. Some of the things (like the automatic lights), i’m surprised aren’t there, especially with the Limited model. It’s the same with the 3rd Gen base Tacos too. When I got my ‘18 sport taco, I was shocked it wasn’t a feature. Annoying really - The dealer just told me to always leave the lights on and they turn off after about 30 seconds. No thanks. I ended up trading it for a ‘19 Off Road with the tech package which came with auto lights. Luckily, much of the safety sense can be disabled on it so not all the beeps are constant. I wanted to add, auto makers have forgotten about two generations who might be in the market. Most gen x and baby boomers aren't interested in the technical crap! They want more affordable stripped down versions. The auto makers of yesterday use to focus on buyers of all preferences. Now they only focus on a small more youthful group, and maybe the occasional tech savvy older types. Truck sales would probably skyrocket if automakers would offer cheaper options and cut all that technical stuff that costs too much out! Get it together, auto industry. You're probably alienating 1/3 of your consumers!
