Tip 11, ignore tip 3, DO build next to the road, a steady income of reputation from bandit kills AND once you unlock it, a guide sign (which can be only built or on near a road) works as fast travel for the game.

Also, as your village grows you can travel through your village on road and get slower stamina drain. For this reason, I DO build along roads, preferable at a fork.

A tip i haven't seen anyone mentioning yet: apparently the food eaten slots only go down in order, so if you ate three types of food Berry - Cooked Mushroom - Cooked Meat, Berry will be the first to start expiring, and as long as it doesn't the other two types of buffs are not going to go down. So, if you want to abuse that system to have practically infinite cooked meat buffs, you can always eat berries first and just have them on hand to renew the buff before it goes out

TIP: after adding your villagers as companions, open the army tab (O), click on the squad and then next to each villager's name there is a question mark that you can use to change their role to mixed, melee or ranged. You can also have multiple squads that you can give separate orders to by using the mouse scroll button to change between them. You can also drag and drop villagers between squads.

If you are working towards building the Village Hall, make sure you craft enough Carpenter Hammers and give them to your Villagers and set their priority to Construction, so they can help build it. Otherwise it's going to take Days until it is finished since it is a huge Building with A LOT of dots to work on which you can't finish in 1 click like all the Tier 1 Buildings.

I found in the beginning if you eat berries then some stronger stat food you can keep the buff longer if you make sure the berries never fall off. I’m only 3 hours in and it’s huge cause you don’t get a lot of power food in the start.

Stack food items in storages - only the top one spoils !! That will get you through the winter. Use large storage for materials, the small camp box for food - 50 items food storage is more then enough to start and advance. The cooking pot needs water sage and some food of most simple stews. Mushroom stew is 2 mushrooms 1 sage and water for 2 stews. From bigger meat you get more stew - high quality stew = garlic + mushroom + water + meat Big piece of meat = 4 high quality stew. Thanks for the tip about "breeding wolfs" - I did not knew that! Garlic can found south of Pastow - SO IS WHEAT!!! Use thresher to make wheat seeds.

There's a work order priority system in the game. Have some confusion about it, the lower priority for a specific task. Does that mean, it's "highest" priority? Each worker/villager. Can be set to work various stations in your village. Research for example, if I set it to "1" does that mean that intended villager will work it first above all other priorities? Or do I need to set it higher like 8 or 9?

1 is the highest priority. The villager's priority is for what they will do first. If you set a workstation to priority 1 then everyone will take care of that station first. The villager with personal priority 1 will always be taken into account to try and do it first before other villagers and the the rest of them operate down the line.

Not sure if this happens because of the periodic updates but i normally equip & unequip villagers during and after a fight... I've noticed the villagers tend to lose weapons/ shields if i give it to them outright.

Honestly i wish i had built on the road to spawn in the middle of my camp. Also bandits diminish as you wipe out camps. Our area used to flow with them and now my belt supply has run dry 😢

I love 1v4ing a group of bandits without a shield. I sucked hard at combat at first but once I got it down I felt like such a swashbuckling badass. 4 is like the max I can deal with though, beyond than I’m just getting sliced to pieces.

HERE’S A GREAT NEW ONE I FOUND: If you need lots of spoiled foods for fertilizer, empty your inventory, wait until you have a large stack of a certain food (like berries) that are about to spoil, drag them from the storage into your inventory and they will all split up but have the same about to spoil timer! When you pull them out one by one, the timer resets on the stack that you pulled from for the remaining foods in the stack, but it seems pulling them out by dragging messes with that and creates a full inventory of nearly spoiled foods

Hi, great vid ❤, I started playing yesterday and have just 1 issue. A few times i was at the crafting bench, I want to make a shield, i had all the resources, the skill req, i had eaten berries so had energy, but it still had an ‘X’ over the cued shields and would not build no matter what I did??? Any ideas what Im missing, eventually it randomly worked, but an hour later the same issue again. Im stumped

Make sure you have room in your inventory to hold it. The shield takes up 4 spaces.

When you build a remote mining site, or something else that causes your villagers to walk long distances, quickly open the menu (N) and reassign the new structure to a new site, this way villagers from your main base won't walk over to your new place to build it (possibly running into bandits on the way) Once you've built the site, build a storehouse on both ends and remember, when you setup a delivery order, they are GET orders, not actual deliver orders. So at your main base, you'll setup an order to get copper ore from your ore mine site for example. Then at the mine site, you'll setup an order to get food and/or tools. Remember that you need housing at any site if you take any of your villagers to them, they wont go back to the main site to sleep.

I've recently came across your channel and love your guides. But I haven't been able to pay attention to everything because I've been playing sometimes while watch/listening and miss bits. Now my question, and you can answer with a simple it was in such episode if like. When I'm looking at a townspersons stats when deciding if I want them to join I notice that some of the stats are in different colors, like my farmer has a green farming stat at top 6, but I have other helpers and townspeople who have stats in sort of a gold, I was wondering what the different colors mean, is it a preferred stat by that helper/townsperson ect. I'm 63, and I struggle at times just getting through the game and forums aren't my thing, hell my thing isn't even my thing.... but your guides are wonderful and would like a little help on what I am looking at when I am looking at it. I'm writing down my helpers stats and deciding who might become a trade in and trade up. So far I haven't put much into my helpers because as I go up in renown or level with the villages I trade in some of my helpers for far better across the board., the only one it appears I can't trade in or up for better is the guy we picked up from the first mission, Lubomir. he doesn't actually belong to any village so there is no trade in. He's horrible in battle but man can that boy farm, cook, and do research, and I hate to admit it, but he gives one hell of a foot rub around the campfire.

i can easily 1v6 and below any NPC. If you play murdhou, Last Oasis, or any medieval games with parry mechanics you'll understand how to body block enemies using their allies and paddle between while parrying..the only thing i dislike is how arrows go through allies. Arrows should not go through allies and should damage them instead by atleast 40%.

Not sure if anyone has done this one yet. When replacing small traps, instead of making new ones dismantle the broken traps using the build menu. They'll be added back in your inventory and you can place them again without needing to craft new ones. At least until the devs patch this out... (plz don't!)

I've been watching several folks gameplay since early access and I'd honestly say first thing, get yourself a pen and notepad and keep some notes as you go. Watching folks click a building, run off, forget what they need and then have to circle back - ooo that villager has great stats let me recruit them next but then come back later and who were they? - These sorts of things. Arming/Equipping your villagers as well at the outset - axe/club and go, they can defend themselves when you're off running about questing and have basics to fight spur of the moment when you call them. And make sure to adjust their work orders to capitalize their strong points, not just leave them all at 5. Simple prioritization, I've been watching a bunch and after the initial camp build I've seen folks splinter off all over the place spread too thin. Nothing wrong with plotting out camp/build spots but seen lots of half started, squirrel scenarios (something notepad might help w/ too).

Dont hire beggers, they have 0 levels in all abilities. Once you get rep up, you can get better villagers. Look out for the 6 strength dude.. worth it.

Are you following the story line? If you do the quests for the villagers you gain trust with the village to be able to recruit. When in a village you can see your trust level next to the minimap.

@@krisbeal8173 You can only recruit the non quest giver npc, not the one that can give you quest. Talk with them in any villages and choose the first dialogue. Then you can see their stat before you agreed to recruit them or not.

Completely dissagree with #5 intentionally recruiting before is silly, you can pretty much throw all your low level villagers away and replace them with far better skilled ones if you look around at what is available after each new reputation bracket. You wont be able to skill up your early recruits to a comparible level at all. I also completely disagree with #6, you don't need to sleep ever, there's plenty of tasks you can do through the night and through winters to prep your village progress. They don't get less advanced or shorter because you slept the time away. My main tip starting off is merchants have gold every day. In first few days(instead of sleeping the night), you can have 1x axe(12g) and your extra inventory filled with reeds(10g each) for Hearndean, buy beginner books(150g) for yourself and be reading a book near 100% of the time. Apprentice books are 500xp each up to level 3. Quiver much cheaper to buy than craft also.

It is true that you can release lower level villagers; however how much renown you get back depends on the level of the villager. If they haven't been leveled up then you'll get less than you paid. Ofc eventually they will level or it won't matter as much as in early game when every little bit of renown is badly needed. In regards to sleeping, to each their own ofc. I still believe it's good to sleep so that the time can be spent more efficiently having everyone work together rather than just me doing tasks. Definitely agree on reading books. Good to read one at all times. But be careful about starting one right before a big battle. If you die, you'll lose the book. Thanks for watching.
