The question is: "is Roman a part timer, under a part time contract like Brock, thus making WhatCulture's 'fact' untrue." The answer is "yes", he is on a part time contract. He's not just not on site at every weekly show, his contract limits the number of PPVs he will be at. That's part time.

saying that Vince would give up Wrestlemania over a Saudi show is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. The Saudi deal is temporary whilst Mania is a 39+ year project that his ego would never let him destroy. The money argument is super 1 dimensional thinking and probably also the reason why "nobody told me about this"

Part of the reason great technical matches don't get over all the time is because those usually go on so late in the card and the people are usually just worn out .

I don't know what to say about these wrestling marks. Everything doesn't have to be technical masterpiece for fans to enjoy. Like he pointed himself that fans lose the excitement when matches are going 100 miles per hour at wm. Macho man wrestling 3 matches in one night and capturing the gold was such a wholesome moment

Reality check that the Hogan ending at WM9 was a fine ending that the crowd really loved. Most people went home happy. It was awful looking back now and long term it went nowhere cause Hogan didn't do anything afterwards and left, but on the day, just looking at the show wasn't that bad at all.

To be somebody on the midcard, and absolutely steal the show is a bigger flex than being the main event, because that just raises the bar to a level that most others cannot achieve leaving their matches lackluster.

I feel like such a bad fan some times but I have never, ever watched a Wrestlemainia. WWE wasn’t a thing in my home growing up and the first time I started liking wrestling’s was a month before Edge retired the first time and I want going to watch the show cause my favorite wrestler was gone. Then I was a broke college student who couldn’t afford to watch and now I just see the post mania reviews.

I was at WM9 and I can tell you it wasn’t as bad as people have made it since. The narrative that it was so bad is solely Corning from uncle Dave’s account of events, he hates hogan and loves to drive that point home.

and to be honest, it wasn't even that bad. It was the kind of show I can say to where their were definitely better but also definitely worse. I know their was the way Brock VS Dean Ambrose and the last hour of the show including the main event but other then that it wa a fairly decent show for what they had to work with.

I remember reading an article after Wrestlemania 34 that said "Wrestlemania 34 proves that WWE doesn't need Cena and The Undertaker anymore." They were right...glad this Wrestlemania was forward looking. Though we NEED to see Rock vs Reigns (just not for the title!)

And they tried wm 35 without taker and cena. The only selling point of the show was kofi vs Bryan. Women's main event had lost steam a month prior, everyone knew Seth would win against Lesnar etc.

Saying WM is no longer the most important WWE event is a miscalculation. Sure the Saudi shows pull more money, but that’s not at the gate or streaming views. That’s plain opulent blood money being thrown around. WM is still the most important show of the year from a product and production standpoint. You can’t even debate that. The Saudi shows don’t gross anything, the government there simply pays a massive premium to bring the show to town. Big difference.

The correct choice was NOT ENDING THE FUCKING STREAK! Brock Lesnar was already a made man and DID NOT need this. It was the wrong decision. It shouldn’t have happened. Plus, The Undertaker continued wrestling! After this, there was not a single Undertaker match at Mania that had the same build or anticipation to it. You could have had Undertaker beat Brock and then tell the story that Brock is so enraged by the loss, he goes on the tear and winning streak he ended up going on anyway. All in all, the complete wrong decision

Taker got defeated anyway three years later. They could have waited just for 3 years, people dont give Roman appreciation for being one of the only 2 people who defeated taker in his 25 matches just because he wasn't the first one and he also decimated Cena later in the year.

No one has besides Brock unless you want to count his Undertaker match, that's the point. That's why people still remember it. Roman didn't need the streak any more than Brock did, he was their next golden boy all he needed was the stubborn man directing his character to do what everyone said he shouldve done for years and he finally did that when Roman returned from Leukaemia.

However, being a fan of wrestling also means you have to understand your favorite wrestler isn't the entirety of the business. Seeing what they did with Brock afterwards and how he became that ultimate Final Boss character for the next few years, this was the absolute right choice.

WWE runs two or three MSG shows a year and makes a massive loss on each. Money isn't everything and Vince McMahon is a stickler for tradition. You do him a disservice to suggest that he would ever consider dropping Wrestlemania for a more lucrative event. Vince and Triple H are both avoid believers in keeping traditions alive, even at their own expense.

WM 1 isn’t bad at all and I don’t think it’s a show to be skipped. Yeah, the matches sucked overall, but it’s fun to see where it all started and be like ‘wow, I can’t believe how far we’ve come!’ Also, Punk should’ve ended the streak. He was already a big enough star, but that run could’ve benefited him. However, I do agree that the booking afterward would’ve sucked.
