I have your same problem, people who even said "but do you wash your face regularly morning and night?" I mean wtf?! I have acne since I was 15 and now I'm 22 and I still have it yeah! Hormonal like yours and I changed so many products so many doctors that I'm done really. No one gave me a definitive and effective solution, the only way that I can control it at least is with birth control pills but I'm so scared that once I stop that, my acne turns out stronger or more evident.

Most accurate video EVER!!! I’m 37 and have had acne since middle school. I’ve done EVERYTHING and NOTHING. I’m about to start an accutane course as a final hoorah! I can’t count the number of people who give advice on the subject while being painfully uneducated about my acne!!!!! People who are not professionals try to sell me products not meant to treat my type of acne and essentially make me more self-conscious and aware of the issue. And I know they mean well, but STOP! Don’t do this to others. If they want to try your product, they will seek you out. Trust me! I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. It’s embarrassing and debilitating at times. It’s not my lifestyle, diet, habits... it’s my body. I have had hormone issues since being a teen. I get ovarian cysts, have emotional rollercoaster days I can’t control and my doctors are aware. Unless you think you know all about healing that, just don’t! 🛑

I’ve had acne since I was 7, and one thing you missed is the bullying. Kids!!! 11/10 year old kids saying things to ppl like me, “Can I have a pepperoni pizza please?” And then trying to pick me up, or ppl pointing there fingers to my forehead and “connecting the dots” I’m not mad, it’s just annoying!!! And I totally agree with everything you said in this video, I hope ppl watch this and think twice before they speak or do something. 😊

I was never that explicitly bullied for having acne so that's why I didn't include it. I was bullied for a whole lot of other things 😂 somehow acne didn't make the cut. People have made comments and passive things but I've never had those type of comments. I did get bullied a lot for my skin shade, hair and other personal stuff so... 🙁 people suck!

I'm slooooowly transitioning from acne to just texture issues (and for daring to say this I'll probably wake up tomorrow with a breakout) that I need to stop poking and prodding and just pray they go away with my skincare. But the thing I heard most often when I had acne (and now that I have a lot of leftover marks) is "omg what happened to your face what did you do to have so many pimples?" BITCH IF I KNEW MY FACE WOULDNT LOOK LIKE A PIZZA.
@raquelsmx7 жыл бұрын
I don't think anybody ever asked me why I had so many lol like I don't even know what's going through the person's mind wtf I think I'd punch them! But people constantly pointed at my biggest pimple and say "hey you've got a huge one here", in high school mostly 😳 it's a red raging volcano on my face. I have mirrors at home. And I can feel it aching. Do I not know I have a pimple, dumbasses??

I love this video! I had to deal with this too. It totally pisses me off. Mine was also a difficult journey. I broke out when I was 12ish then cleared up by 18. However it came back in my 30s (the deep cystic puss volcano kind). Mine was not hormones, food nor my hygiene and I kept hearing this. I could kill someone if I hear I should go vegan. I was vegan when it happened. Argh. Anywho, everyone's skin is so different. My friend also has PCOS too and thought you did since both had similar look. That is a difficult type of acne to manage. I did nothing but support her and she I. That is all we needed. No tips unless we ask, just encouragement. Anywho, we both got our faces balanced. So we were lucky, but I am waiting for round 3! Oh yeah, heard the wrinkle comment and I now have them due to harsh treatment too. Stupid comment to oily skinned girls.

You are beautiful Raquel and I love your videos, your spirit and energy..thank you for sharing your self with the world..thank you for this video! I had acne decades ago before all these latest treatments and it came back in adulthood due to hormonal changes. At times, I have gotten cortisone needle treatments which help, but cause deep craters that takes months for the area to bounce back, but never fully back to "normal".. the next time someone says something to me, I may send them a link to this video. You have 'told it like it is' and if people were aware that their comments really hurt rather than help, maybe they will shut the hell up !!

ofc, you can have them checked with a simple ultrasound I believe but a few symptoms are: hormonal acne usually around the mouth and chin (where a man's beard would typically appear lulz); a lot of hair overall (sometimes facial); irritability and sometimes irregular periods. You can have some of the symptoms - rarely ever all of them happily I guess 😂

Even tho this was posted a year ago and I'm late... I CAN RELATE SO MUCH. I am a 12 year old, currently in 6th grade. My acne makes me feel so insecure, to the point that it takes me 2 hours to get ready; if I'm going out or I just don't go out at all. There is a particular memory that triggers me the most. There was award ceremony, where I won a award in which was do happy of. Then a student comes up to me and says "Merinda's mom wants to talk to you." the student showed me the way towards the woman. And guess what? In front of her daughter and the other students, she told me to put tomato on my face so the acne would go away. LIKE... WTF? Why bring that up at that moment? I told my mother about it, but she said that I was overthinking about it. The next day, as you can imagine how 6th graders are... they joked about it for a WHOLE week. Am I really overthinking about it?

You don’t think that foods influence hormones? I’m someone who has dealt with acne for about 6 years, and the only thing that has truly worked is changing my diet. My acne is definitely hormonal, and I have noticed significant improvements since changing to a plant based diet. Cutting dairy was a great start, but taking my diet to the next level has truly been the only thing that has worked. I wouldn’t brush off diet advice. No one wants to have an annoyingly restricted diet, but if it works, then it’s worth it.
@raquelsmx6 жыл бұрын
No, what I mean is... i’ve tried it. It has not worked out for me at all. I cut off dairy, gluten, eggs and other stuff for a whole year and my skin was the exact same. So while it might influence some people, it just is not what triggers my acne 🙁

I used to have horrible acne for a short time (not sure why, I never did in high school until halfway through senior year) it just came out of nowhere. it was so bad, I considered going on Accutane but it did clear up after 6 months and I never had it like that again. really weird lol. obviously I get a few here and there but not like before. but yeah I was just curious if you've tried it and how it was. my friends thinking about it because hes had acne really bad since high school and nothing works (were 26 now)
@raquelsmx7 жыл бұрын
I am actually starting my 3rd round of accutane now. It is a bitch though! It does work on me while I'm taking it and up to a year after but, as it is 100% hormonal, the acne comes back every time! 😐😩 it does work permanently on some people though, depends on the type of acne you have x

Lauren C I was just revisiting this video and I wanted to follow up on my Accutane experience. I did start Accutane in January and I am just finishing up my last month of it. My skin has been clear pretty much the whole course and I have had very little side effects other than sensitivity to the sun. I would not change a thing about making this decision! It is literallyLife changing to me. Tomorrow is my 38th birthday and we are taking the boat out on the lake. The fact that I can go out without a stitch of makeup is absolutely liberating! I look so much younger and I feel so good about myself. If you’ve tried everything else, I would highly recommend asking a dermatologist about Accutane.
