You're entirely wrong that they couldn't go back to lighthearted, witty, ridiculous Bond films. That's what the majority of fans want now, to switch it up. The Craig films got waaay too sappy, and serious, Bond way too moody and emotional. Think about it, it's a spy fantasy series; The new films try very hard to be serious, but it makes no difference because they're still incredibly unrealistic. It's gotten stale at this point, there are a million Bourne rip offs, that film came out 20 years ago. They need to go back to the classic formula...what made Bond legendary in the first place.
