It's been a few months since the reveal of Sonic X Shadow Generations, and as we approach the season of gaming reveals, where we'll very likely get to see a new trailer for the game.

UPDATED NOTE: Shun Nakamura was actually the Producer on Sonic Forces. No idea how big of a role a producer has on a project. But he wasn't the reason Forces turned out the way it did. Nakamura did direct Sonic '06, and that's surprising to me! I like Sonic '06, bugs & all. And it's one of the best Shadow stories in the games! So it does give me more hope that Shadow Generations turns out pretty good! OG Comment: Let me know if the sound is okay in this one! Didn't spend as much time as I usually do, when it comes to balancing audio this time. Not to mention my PC wasn't particularly happy about rendering this one. So here's hoping the 2nd time's the charm! But since KZbin has a new "Stable Volume" feature, I'm hoping the audio balancing won't be much of an issue in the future! Problem is... if KZbin allows my videos to have the setting available, if ever. Least, it's not showing up on my end. But regardless, I do hope this turned out well in either case. :)

Heard sonic forces turned out the way it did because Toshihiro Nagoshi the Yakuza dev split Sonic Forces team mid development to make the other half work on sakura wars. It might have been to sabotage Sonic so Yakuza gets more budget. He doesnt work for Sega anymore and since then Sonic has been doing better it seems. Sadly its hard to find sources on this.

@@scuddbucket3300 my point is that since Sonic Adventure, Sonic (and a few other characters; one time not Sonic) use the Chaos Emeralds during the final boss, which is epic. But in Frontiers, he used them multiple times that it seems that the Emeralds don’t serve their purpose: to take down the final boss once and for all

The only issue is that generations wasn’t built with Superstars physics, so they’d have to change the level designs a bit. I’d love to be wrong though (also I agree and hope they switch to the superstars models)

The thing with Team Dark apparently is not really that SEGA doesn't consider Team Dark a thing, but more that Shadow, Rouge and Omega aren't really friends, they're partners that can trust each other a lot, one of the few people they can trust for sure is each other, but they don't interfer in each other's objectives, which has always been the case for them since their introduction, so they are right.

For what it was the Generations physics worked and they were fun. But I'm still holding out hope that they actually update or port the Retro Engine/Superstars Physics into Generations if they're going to add the drop dash out of obligation. They probably wont because SEGA. Though, it'd be kinda weird that they didn't after Mania and Superstars.

I just want the game to play exactly like the OG Generations. I know they’re developing on Hedgehog Engine 2, which is the same engine the used for Forces and Frontiers, but I want both the Sonic and Shadow campaigns to play identical to if not better than Og Generations

I also have one inclusion of new stages from post sonic generations games like Sky Road. from sonic lost world Chemical Plant Spaceport from forces a simplified version of the open zone from frontiers and new yolk city(if they decided to adapt sonic prime) and some stages from the story book series like camelot castle from black knight and Evil Foundry. from secret rings adding infinite as a mini boss and making Dark Queen/king arthur as the main boss fight characters Id like to include are Mighty (first introduction in 3d game) for lost world omega for forces Big the Cat for frontiers and Ray(same as mighty) for the sonic prime Also if they decided to make cosmetics for this game Id love them to give sonic his riders gear and movie gear I know its a bit too much but sega really needs to remaster sonic riders in the modern times,They can make mad money with riders if they decided to make it into a newer engine with inclusion of online multiplayer as well as a cup system which mario kart and sega all stars have

It most likely won't. The game doesn't need a multiplayer anyway. In fact, multiplayer hasn't been in a Sonic game for a long time and that's not counting Sonic Colors Ultimate. Sonic games are better off without multiplayer.

For me, I'd like a full revamp of base sonic generations making it better looking overall, then I'd like all the 3DS Levels to be remade into actual 3D levels for the console version, and then the shadow generations part could honestly be half the size of generations tbh.

Sonic colors did have save slots. But it was removed in the remaster. Also, I would love them to add the music from the 3ds version at least. Also also, the 3ds version of the time eater is way better. Just replace the console boss with the 3ds fight instead.

That's a good question! Seems they've been moving away from the lives system since Forces. Even in Colors Ultimate they removed 'em completely. So that would be interesting, and I do hope that's an option ala Crash 4's Modern & Retro Modes.

1: It made by Sega in-house this time, not outsourced to some random blind companies, so hopefully it's fine. 2: Uh they added skins? Adventure Sonic is a pre-order bonus. Classic Sonic also has his dropdash from Mania (but looks like it's been nerfed a lot) and the boost button is mapped to RT/R2 and homing attack is mapped to X like Sonic Frontiers. 3. Drift is not in Shadow Generations as far as I know. 4. Unknown 5. Unknown 6. Highly unlikely. Shadow Generations and Sonic Generations are technically two games, similar to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. However unless 3D World, Sonic Gens and Shadow Gens literally uses different engines: Sonic Gens remains to be Hedgehog Engine 1, while Shadow Gens uses HE2. 7. Probably not. 8. I don't see Sega redoing an entire boss for a remaster. 9. As stated above, Classic Sonic has the heavily nerfed dropdash, bounce tho is unknown but unlikely. 10. Highly Unlikely. They didn't even bother to change the model to Superstars'. And Superstars' uses Unity while Sonic Generations uses HE1 so....

Something I would want to see, and this had more to do with the rest of Shadow's campaign, see Shadow's level be represented, such as Westopolis, Sky Troops, the Circus, etc. It be so cool to see those levels shown in HD. Given how this is Shadow going through his memories of his battle with Black Doom, it only makes sense for those levels to make a comeback.

I hope they add more Sonic game music in Gens’ soundtrack. Like stuff from more obscure titles, while some games gets more songs, and obviously games that didn’t exist yet as well. Might as well slap in a NiGHTS song or two just for good measure. Wishful thinking I know. Well it’s about to get even wishier. I would love to see songs from other Sonic media and continuities as well. I know that’s hard to do, but it’s also an anniversary game for the Sonic series.

You did have a text saying that you want Classic Sonic’s overpowered spin dash to stay, so that’s good, especially with my favorite Classic Sonic stage in Generations: City Escape Act 1. I’m just not sure if the Genesis physics would work with Classic Sonic’s level design in Generations. Probably speed-runs with the spin dash, high momentum jumps off of enemies, and spin dash jumping wouldn’t be the same. Classic Sonic in Generations isn’t exactly like Genesis Classic Sonic, but I couldn’t care less. I’d go as far to say that this Classic Sonic is the best in terms of speed-run gameplay.

1:58 I would also suggest removing, or allowing the player to choose to have lives. Lives are a very stupid feature, and in this game where you lose one from restarting, it makes going for personal speed records a little annoying when you aren’t maxed out.

I would really like for them to make Sonic’s friends help him in the remaster instead of just standing in one place and cheering him on doing nothing, this has been an issue since Sonic 06 and Sonic Generations and it irritated me that their not helping,😓 most of the time their not in the game and worse, I don’t even get to play as them anymore when their story focused or playing as them just for fun, and I’ve been complaining about this for decades!😡 Blaze the Cat happens to be my favorite female character and her gameplay is fun as hell and I’ve always had a great time with her even in Team Sonic Racing, but she’s barley included in the main line Sonic games.

Great explanations of the wanted improvements of the remaster, especially the drift; it looks great on a boost game because Sonic looks cool drifting while at top speed. But most importantly, the Shadow stages *must* not be like in Forces, cause it’s very boring that he only moves in one direction (that’s why the drift is needed as in Unleashed and Generations as you get a feel of making sharp turns while moving faster than the speed of sound). On another note, I actually don’t like the bounce stomp in Frontiers. I mean, he’s stomping on, supposedly, hard ground and he’s not a spring, so how can he jump higher than before? Where’s the physics in that?

10 Things they probably won't do, or at least not better than the most superficial and monkeypaw induced way possible. Yeah, I still haven't recovered from my one year of supporting Frontiers to be returned with being choked until I fell over blue, blunt trauma and then kicked while I was dow- er, I mean Final Horizons. 11:00 He has been able to use the abilities without the emeralds since the final story of Shadow the Hedgehog. 11:10 That's already a reference in Gens. If you get all Emeralds in order, his is the 4th emerald.

So I'm excited for Sonic X Shadow Generations. It looks really good. But I don't know why you're saying "both these games". I'm pretty sure it's just one game.

Tho it's the base Generations, I do consider it a separate experience from Shadow Generations. So it's why I refer to 'em as two separate games, despite it being a collection or bundle. :)

Shun Nakamura wasn't the director of Forces, he was the producer. He had no say in the creative direction the game took. He was the director of Sonic 06 and he done level design for adventure.

I can see that option only really applying to the PC version. But I've never heard of upgrades for PC games. The only other version you can buy, is the Xbox 360 version. It's digital, tho backwards compatible with Xbox One & Series. I don't think an upgrade is viable, even on this version either.

I just find it dumb that now we can spend 60€ again for a game we already own (outside of shadows campaign)

Wasn't Kishimoto the director of Forces? I remember people being worried about Frontiers for the same reason. I'd say he probably wasn't the issue, considering how Frontiers turned out. They just need Sega to actually give them the time and money to make something good.

@@BlueKnightV20 i mean idk about that 😅 He showed up to kick around Infinite (or whatever his name was before he got the mask and Phantom Ruby) and then did some mission offscreen. He went to save Omega and got mindwarped by Infinite. And then when Eggman and Infinite captured Sonic, and supposedly killed Sonic, Shadow was gone the whole time. Sonic and everyone thought Shadow was on team Eggman again, until he randomly popped up to kick his own butt..... and then he sat in the background again until the last battle.

The story is also unfinished and they definitly won't bring back Maekawa to finish it. The idea is a bust, the fanremake is already more than we could have expected.

My only hope is that SEGA actually lets the team, writers and translators actually write Shadow well. Because outside of Prime and Murder of Sonic, his writing and characterization has been…well we all saw the recent Tailstube 🫤. I don’t have much hope especially given Ian Flynn’s recent comments in his podcast but here’s to hopium lol.
