As Black American woman I notice that African men are straight forward about their feelings which are different from American men. It can take long before they really know how they feel. So when I met my Ghanaian Husband it was a cultural shock about how he didn't play about he's feelings about and he wanted me all to himself. I had to learn that also about the left hand my husband had shown me because I'm Left handed I do everything with it . For I used right for #2 not my left 🤦🏾‍♀️. This was hard for me to learn. Ghanaians are nice and very friendly. I went shopping at local stores myself and I felt safe and felt at peace. Ghana is now my second 🥈 home Welcome me .

As a Ghanaian living in Ghana my whole life. I must say Ghana is so so peaceful despite the vase differences in religion, language, culture, region, political views and many many more differences. We still find ways and means to be untied and respectful to one another. A pastor can marry a Mallam (Islamic teacher) and they will never have a religious dispute.

A Ghanaian who grew up in Ghana but currently live in the states here 🤚🏿. I love it when content creators or tourists have an open mind and immerse themselves in the places they visit. First time here and i subscribed. Sorry for the long text ❤🤒 1. About the billbords: You're even lucky you didn't visit next year, which is an election year. The billboards are crazy nuisances which needs better regulation. 2. The left hand: Culturally, using the left hand doesn't show respect. I don't know where that came from but as a child i had school mates who were taught to use their right hand even if you're left handed. You'll have to apologize when you use the left. So being out of Ghana for years i always need to restrain myself from apologizing for that. It isn't as bad for the younger ones as it was for my generation. I'm a millennial. 3. The twi language is the main language of the Akan ethnic group or tribe, who are about 70% of the population of Ghana. And the main occupants of 8 to 9 out of the 16 regions. So it's kinda our lingua franca. I've been to some very remote non Akan places and they still can speak Twi or at least understand when you speak it. The Asantis are a subset of the Akan ethnic group. So example of you traveled by road from Accra to Kumasi. As soon as you left the greater accra you started the tour of the Akan regions till you go to Asante region. There are variants of Twi though. 4. Saying please is part of us. You're taught to even say please when you greet as you said. The Akuapims (another subset of the Akan tribe in the eastern region) a groomed to even say please before they insult or diss someone. It's part of us pr a stereotype 😂. It's those things that make us laid back and oit of trouble because the level of politeness is too much. 😂😂 4. Religion: We are mostly Christian, I think the last census put Christians at around 68% or so. But we are very accommodating of various religions and ethnic groups. That's one thing I'm super proud of Ghanaians for. I think the boarding school culture from high school inculcated that in us. 5. Funerals di3 don't go there ooo. Please we the asantis and Akans will renovate our family houses when someone dies so the house will be nice for visitors. We commemorate the One Week of the person's demise, a weekend of funeral, 40days and 1year. It's an Akan thing and the other tribes also have something similar but fortunately not as flamboyant 😂. There used to be wake keeping the night before the burial but our chiefs thankfully canceled those.

@@brightatabeso583 Hi Bright 😁 🫡. I don't know if you're in Ghana or Ghanaian. I'm open for corrections anytime on the percentage of the Akan population in Ghana. Akans include Akyems, Akuapims, Asantes, Guans, Akwamus, Bonos, Ahafos, Kwahus, Nzemas, Fantes, Ahantas, Sekyeres and others that do not come to my mind now. All of these tribes are occupants of the Eastern, Ashanti, Bono, Ahafo, Central, Western, Western North, some parts of Oti regions. So yea they could make up about 70% of the population of the country. But pls teach us if I'm wrong I'm always happy to learn especially about cultures and my own at that and I think that's the essence of the video and my comment. Thanks.

I love Ghana! My stay there was so memorable. A really beautiful nation with very nice peaceful people. I also loved the aura- to me it gave off “Christian nation”. I also didn’t witness the lefthand thing. Or maybe because I was a foreigner they gave me a free pass. One of my fav dishes there was Kontumreh (i’m not sure if i spelt that right). They even taught me how to cook it & I did when i returned to my country 😄 Overall Ghana is one country I could gracefully settle in. The Akwaaba vibe was 💯 %

The left hand is reserved for picking dirty stuff and washing and wiping your unclean parts. It is seen as a sign of disrespect to use that hand to extend anything to anyone. If the right hand is occupied and the left is the only hand free, you have to apologise by saying "sorry for the left" in the process of handing out anything with your left.

In the Ghana Constitution, you can practice any religion you want, with no religion being superior to the other. When it is Salah, you will find christians going to eat and celebrate with their muslim brothers etc We generally have respect for everyone's beliefs, so far as we aren't stepping on each other's toes.

Ghanaians believe, give what belongs to Caesar to Caesar and what belongs to God to God and that one of the attributes that make Ghana peaceful. My mum is a Muslim and I am a Christian and she was the one that woke me up to go to church every Sunday when I was in Ghana Ghana is that peaceful 😊

Love your review. ❤ One correction the Day names are specifically for the Akans who are predominantly Ashantis and Fantis not the Gas (Greater Accra). The Gas have their own unique naming style which has nothing to do with the days, but rather named according to the clan you are born in.

I beg to differ. It’s not only Ashanti’s that’s name according to days of the week. Ga’s, Ewes, Fantes also do same. Eg. Monday (Adjoa,Kojo) In ewe/ga its (Adjo, kojo( k)jo) So it’s not limited to only Ashanti’s I’m Abla ( Tuesday born ) which Is Abena in twi and Araba in Fante. Pls kindly get your fact right 😊 And yes GA’s have way of naming depending on clan and depending on whether u are the first born ,second etc Eg. Tetey (1st born boy) T3t3( 2nd born boy) Mensah (3rd born boy ) etc Also Dede( 1st born girl) Korkor(2nd born girl) Mansa/Kai ( 3rd born girl) Tsotso( 4th born girl) etc

Hi, you got most of your content right with the exception of the Homowo festival. The Homowo festival is celebrated by the Ga people. Every ethnic group in Ghana has their own festival and the significance and meaning of the festivals align with that particular groups culture. Orherwise great content and keep it up. Hi Victorine!👋 I loved❤ your video presentation on the 10 things you loved about Ghana🇬🇭. Please, I would like to clarify some things based on your observations and statements made in your YT channel: 1. Yes, Ghana 🇬🇭 is a beautiful and peaceful country, "the gateway to Africa," as reminded by the Blackstar monument when entering into the country. 2. Ghana 🇬🇭 is a Christian nation ✝️ based on the population of Christians in the country. Because we are a tolerable people, we accept and live in harmony amongst ourselves. Simply put, we have three(3) major religions here in Ghana, i.e., Christianity, Islam, and the African Traditional Religion (ATR). We also have a lot of ethnic groups in the country, with the major ones being the following: Akans (language: Twi), which is widely spoken in Ghana because they're the biggest ethnic group and also because of the role they played in historic Ghana during the British colonial era, Ga-Adangbes (language: Ga), Ewes (language: Eve), Mole-Dagbon (language: Dagbani), etc. "Twi" is not the official language of Ghana but rather ENGLISH! Twi is widely spoken because of the migration of Asantes to the various parts of the country. 3. Lastly, it is true that Ghanaians are hospitable and polite people. That is why foreigners or visitors feel at home whenever they visit Ghana for vacations. Also, there are other local delicacies you should have tried apart from the "Fufu" and "Waakye," you mentioned in your video. Some of these include: "Tuo Zaafi" (people of Northern Ghana), "Akple" (Ewes), "Banku" ( people of Southern Ghana), etc. NB: It is an undeniable truth that Ghanaian men are very romantic and straightforward-minded in general when it comes to love (i.e., going for the woman we like and hence marriage). Thank you! ❤ #ILove🇨🇲 #ILove🇬🇭 #ILoveAfrica🌍

Twi is widely spoken in Ghana because, three Akan groups(Bono, Akuapem and Ashanti) speak Twi and they can be found at the middle of the country so it easily spread to the North, East, etc. The second most popular language is Fante; which is spoken by Fantes and are located at the Southern and Western parts of Ghana. Fantes are one of the major Akan groups and the language is mutually intelligible with Twi; meaning a Fante speaker can communicate with a Twi speaker. Example is British and American English. The only difficulty will be the difference in vocabularies.

It’s a nation of every religion. We respect any religion. Do you and don’t worry others. I am a christian who grew up in zongo( muslim community mostly hausa) We lived in peace alongside the ga people who practiced vodoo. We grew up experiencing each other right from boarding schools ( which is very common in high school) to living amongst each tribe and religion. Eating from each other’s tribe etc. i am a born christian who can mingle with any other tribe or religion. We have few shallow minded people amongst us but it’s not regular Ghanaian norm. We are not perfect but “ uplifting the good name of ghana and defending it” as it says in our national anthem means much to us because we love peace . I am proudly Ghanaian where I go because I know my respectful upbringing takes me places when I am out of ghana. I don’t encounter much hate because of the calm respectful peaceful culture I was raised with. We can live amongst every nation because we are calm and peaceful peaceful until you bring it on😂

The interesting thing about Ghana is that almost everyone at that Festival also goes to church on Sunday. We see such observations as culture, it must be done, exclusive of your religious identity ( Indigenous religions also exist). I will say colonization really took a toll on us Lol. We find it hard to draw the line between our culture which is a religion in itself and our preferred religion practice. So at our weddings, we have the "cultural" type and the white wedding. Naming ceremonies, we have the "cultural" one which is done first where we even pour libations and right after we go to church to observe the "Christian" type and thank Jesus.😂

The question on Ghana's national religion. Ghana is a religiously diverse country, with over 70% of the population identifying as Christian, 19% as Muslim, and the remaining 11% adhering to traditional or other religions. We respect and allow all practices so far as in not inhumane. We all agree the traditionalists are the custodian of the land so we give them all the respect.
