Hi! I might be starting university next year, and I'll be 23 years old...I'm really scared because I'm worried I'll be the only older student on the campus and people will treat me as an old lady! Or an outsider. Are there many other older students in your university? How did you find making friends with the age difference? Or did you not find the age difference to be a problem?? Thank you!

You are lucky, Its way worse for male you instantly get labeled as creep unless you can really pass as younger.

I am so worried about this. I am 32 and have been a parent for 12yrs. Luckily there is one person from my access course in my new course but living away from the uni, in my own home far away from the uni environment I am worried about not being included and feeling like an outsider. I am hoping that that isn’t the case but that is my biggest fear. Also being a mature disabled student there will be more that excludes me than others :/

I feel you, I am hoping to go to university next year and will be 32 when I go, my first time and also very worried I will be a bit of an outsider with a lot of youngsters around. :-S

Thank you for sharing your story. I went back to university at 32 and documented my experience on my Channel with hope of helping others who are on the same boat. It can be a lonely experience thus a sense of community can certainly help. All the best!

Hi Rosa! I found your video whilst looking for advice videos on mature uni students. I’m 22 and will be moving to a new city for uni this September. I’m going to be living in halls which at first I felt excited about, but now I’m beginning to worry I’ve made a mistake. I am actually from Norwich, and still live here currently. You seem like a lovely person and I’m sorry to hear you sometimes feel lonely - if I was staying in Norwich I’d be your friend! These tips were the most useful ones I’ve come across, thank you! 🌸good luck with the rest of your degree.

Hey Ellie! I’m so glad you’ve found this video helpful! I hope you find your experience of starting uni to be positive, even with my negatives I am so glad o moved to another city, although I’m now back in my hometown right now for obvious reasons. It felt so good to start afresh. I have to say I was apprehensive of moving into halls, but I did really enjoy living there. I’m going to be doing a video in the next few weeks with a review of my first year at uni, that may help too. I’m sorry to hear that you’re worried about your choice, but there is so much possibility of it being amazing. This video was highlighting the downsides that no one told me, but doesn’t necessarily have to be your experience. Sorry I rambled! Hope that helps lovely! ❤️❤️

Honestly Rosa sounds great! I’m subscribed now so shall look out for that video in the future ☺️I think my main worry is being seen as an OAP to the 18 year olds I’ll be living with, ha! I had the option of living in a mature flat - but I’d heard they can often be quite anti social due to tenants being a lot lot older, and not caring to build friendships but rather knuckle down and get their degree. So I concluded that regular halls might present me with more opportunities to make friends and socialise. I’m excited to join some societies and hopefully meet likeminded people that way, too :) xx

Yay! Glad to hear it 🥰 There are more Mature students than you think there will be, so you’ll definitely find some friends. I highly recommend joining societies, that’s where I’ve made most of my friends honestly! ❤️

I’m 24 in July and starting uni in April 2021 intake, I’m still umming and arring with moving to halls... I want it for the independence but I don’t know if financially it’s the right thing to do... I’ll still have bills to pay and won’t be able to work as much as I’m on a midwifery cause

Thank you for this. I have just dropped out for the second time. I am 20 years old and would be starting again next year at 21 and a half years old. I do feel really upset because I feel there's something wrong with me because I really cant hack halls and living so far from home.

Im 25 and got offered a place to study a foundation year & bachelors in modern languages. I want to live alone in a little flat outside of the uni city. In a town with a good bus link or train. As a woman, the thing in the back of my mind is thinking 'i want to have children and ill be 30 when i finish this degree'. However, I could always take a break in my studies to have a baby and return part time

Hey, great video! What did you study? How did you figure out what you want to study?
@HonestlyRosa4 жыл бұрын
K Farr hey great question! I study English Literature and Creative Writing. I took a long time to decide what I wanted to study, so no pressure! I was lucky enough to study creative writing at A level at my college years ago, so I knew I wanted to take it further.
