So you've worked hard all week on a new painting, and you're ready to call it done. But is it really done? Or have you left something out? Something that you will regret not fixing later? "Art is never finished, only abandoned", but before abandoning it, I run through a list of 10 things to check first. Performing this checklist, while never creating perfect art, has managed to improve pretty much every painting I've made in small or large ways. I sometimes call this my Tweaks phase. So here's some tips to turn that good painting into a great painting.

Great video! These are great things to consider no matter what your experience level is. It's always easy to forget to go ahead and review/critique your own work so having a list or someplace to start always helps!

Glad you liked it Jeff! Yes, I think its a great practice no matter the experience level, I do my own tweaks list for every piece of art and I've been doing this professionally for 23 years

I think number 9 is still important and somewhat doable when the deadline is very soon. You can't go on a vacation before that 1 hour deadline but more often than not taking a 5-10 min break will still help. Also thanks for the great video!

True, sometimes a short break can work too, and is certainly better than no break. But I always find at least 24 hours gets me the best distance from the painting. A shame it isn't always possible :)
