Ed, Good review...I am now 72 years old. I came to Detroit at the age of 6, 1955 from NYC. I saw a lot of change. I lived mostly in Indian Village but we did live two years in Lafayette Park when it was new. The Bob Lo boats were something I enjoyed more than anything. I worked at the Michigan Theater and Madison before working at Dodge Truck. I see you have an M on your clothing. I had season tickets to Michigan Football...never had more fun. I live in South Carolina now because I must but wonderful people here. I lived the last 25 years in Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ. I loved it. Thanks for the good review and best wishes....And Yes, There are so many wonderful people in Detroit. I remember when they installed The Spirit Of Detroit Statue.

You should have mentioned the People Mover between RenCen and Greektown since those are both stops. Besides giving incredible views, the artwork in each station is an attraction itself. And while many people say it's pointless, I cant tell you how many Uber riders I've had that could have used it without knowing. It also works well to attend a sports game or major event without having to pay the most expensive parking at adjacent lots or deal with much of the traffic leaving afterward.

Bruh. I just had a random flash back about the "Giant Slide". Maaaaaan...listen...lol. That thing was DANGEROUS! And if you didn't grow some hair on yo' chest after one ride...I'm tellin' ya'. Looking back, at my age, I should have never been on the damn thing but you don't know no better. There was never a time you didn't walk away with a few bruises on your body. People would catch air and wipe out all the time, scrap and bleed, then laugh that shit off, put a bandaid or cast on the trouble area and go back up and do it again lol. It was SUPER packed, every time we went. It wasn't metal, though. The slide itself was made out of wood. The climb up...then just 'standing there waiting for your turn' and siking yourself up to do it every time...it NEVER got easier. It's where boys went to become men! The ice cream truck and snack section nearby on summer days...kids and adults both were going on the thing. What the hell were we thinking back then?! It's sad that people started complaining about getting a little pain for a lot of fun. Everything is too PG. It's sad that slide is a shador of it's former self...the whole park for that matter is nothing like it used to be. Clean. Safe. Always something to do. An actual zoo if I remember correctly...alll gone. Oh. I know you remember this one. Auntie Ann's Donut shop on woodward! Krispy Kreme and Dunkin ain't got NOTHING on Auntie Ann's cream-filled donuts. Anyways, this was a great memory. Sad future generations will never know what it's like and should be.

I enjoyed your video, but I feel you have missed by far Detroit's greatest tourist attraction The Ford Assembly Plant in Dearborn MI. I visited the Motown Museum and Greektown as well which was quite good but nowhere as good as The Ford Factory Tour. Walking around the viewing gallery there are tour guides at each point of manufacture. I found the guides both very knowledgeable and helpful and they never hurried me up as there are no time limits if you want to take more time to watch any special aspect of the manufacturing process. I think the tour closes at 4-30 PM so make sure you arrive early enough to take in the whole experience. The tour is closed Sundays and check the web page for days through the year when other days the tour is closed. I spent 3 hours there on the viewing walkway. Food may be purchased on the area but not on the walkway.
@EdButlerDetroit Жыл бұрын
Thanks John, I actually was trying to keep the attractions limited to those that are in the Detroit city limits for this video.

Some parts are, but many parts don't have a high crime problem, such as Southfield and Livonia. You just need to know where to go.
