My two ferrets took 3 months to fully trust and love me. They would bite, not really wanting to leave the cage, let them free roam but they ran right back up. Didn’t have any issues in litter training or the switch from Marshall foods to raw diet. After I had finished that switch they were just goofballs! Showing me that they loved me coming up for cuddles, leaving the cage to free roam! Just everything little noodles should be doing! It takes time! And effort’ but it’s totally worth it in the end!

I was bubbly and friendly but then one day, the pandemic started. After awhile I got super depressed and here we are now. Yesterday I sort of lashed out and had this SUPER long conversation with my mom on appreciation. Then SOMEHOW we got to pets and she brought up that her and my dad were thinking of getting me a pet. I wanted a chinchilla, but then she brought up a ferret. I saw a video of ferrets messing around and fell in love. So I guess now I'm getting a ferret and have been studying them here legitimately all day. So thank you so much for this information!

That's a good thing... that means your parents aren't either willing or able to take care of all the ferrets needs for the life of the ferret (many years), and that's the responsible thing to do. I'm a parent of two teenagers... and yes, we have ferrets in the house... but only because i'm willing, able and happy to take care of the ferrets if/when my children aren't able to, and that includes when they run off to college while the ferrets are still around... I will be there for the ferrets even if my children are off becoming adults and establishing their new lives. My advice? Don't rush it. You'll be 18 soon enough and able to make your own decisions on what you are or aren't "allowed" to have... you may find out that the responsibility of having a job, going to college, hanging out with friends would either leave too little time for your ferrets and/or not enough care for them... or perhaps you would be there for your ferrets at the cost of your own time/job/school/social life. Ferrets are a big time/money sink to be cared for to their needs. I'm sure you'll be a great ferret parent some day, that time will come... but as this channel states, ultimately, it's the parent, not the child that ends up being responsible in the end... and if your parents aren't on the same page as you, then it's just best for you to wait till you're an adult and you can make that call yourself... you may end up realizing your parents made the right decision after all! Best of luck, you'll get some ferrets some day I'm sure! P.S. I'm very liberal with what pets my kids can have, because I love animals and i'm always willing to take care of every pet under our roof 100%... but my daughter isn't allowed to have a snake, even though she really wants one... not because I don't like snakes... I think snakes are cool... but snakes need "raw feeding"... and by raw feeding, that means live mice... NOPE... i'd feel too guilty feeding the poor little guys to a snake... I told my daughter she can have all the snakes in the world she wants after she's 18, but don't ever ask dad to feed them for her!

Cant agree with the money thing enough, With the 3 of my guys who got sick in the last couple of months, Ive spent very close to 5 grand, 1000 for an adrenal surgery, more for hospitalization for one I ended up losing in the end anyway, and a ton of money helping one of my elder ferrets through insulinoma and over the rainbow bridge. Quality kibbles are very pricey, around 25-30 dollars a pound, I figure now switching to raw I will actually be spending a little less on food once I have my initial stock pile finished, but as most ferrets are kibble fed, if you want quality kibble that wont be as detrimental to their health you will pay through the nose. Ive since adopted 3 since the passing of my other 2 putting my total up to 5 and I try at all times to have at least 1500 dollars set aside for every one of them. I have a great vet that knows how much they mean to me and is always giving me discounts, he gave me almost 200 dollars off of a 2 day hospitalization putting the total down to 350 from 550, but throughout the whole process I ended up spending well over a grand and still losing my little guy in the end. So it should be known that even spending thousands doesnt necessarily mean you will be able to save your ferret but doing nothing or not being able to afford emergency care when its needed then you will 100% lose your ferret. I have a very good exotics vet 2 minutes from my house who genuinely cares for the animals that come to see him so much so I have his personal cell number and he told me I could text or call him anytime day or night with any questions or concerns and for weekend emergencies when my main vet is closed, although an hour away I have an excellent emergency hospital that if need be I could step on it and make it there in around 40 minutes or less, Ill gladly take a speeding ticket to save my animals if I have too. These little guys are awesome but delicate, and proper research is so very beneficial to their well being. So glad that you guys started this channel, I feel the information you provide is going to be helping ferrets across the country! Ive owned ferrets coming up on 8 years and they are the best little pets out there, I guess maybe for me they are a necessity because I cant imagine life without them lol.

I'm considering getting ferrets in the future. I have always wanted ferrets. I first want to research and at the moment I have 2 rats left. I loved having rats but there life spans are to short and there not too costly until the vets because there exotic for one and there sensitive to tumers and respotory problems plus other random things that's happened while I've had rats. It's surgerys constant when old paying to get put down and cremated. I give them the best care and the best diet and I let them out to freedom more then in there cage but it's always left open. There so fun but going to a vet at least every 6 months from couple hundred to thousand dollar bill is crazy. Makes me sad though cause I love having rats so much but seem to have bad luck I never even had one die of old age yet. One had aomething wrong out of my control and the vets the second one either got injured from the other rat or cut during playing. The vet thinks one other rats possibly did it but idk if I believe it but can't say for sure. I got 2 left one almost year old on Christmas and one over a year old. I can't decide what to do. I hate giving up on rats but I'm always losing them plus it's alot expense for a animal that don't live long even if they fid live a full life.

This was a great guide and stuff I just feel like there was nothing as positive that you said about ferrets… so one thing I would recommend is to notice that not only adults are watching but Children as well. It can depend on the situation of the depending responsibility for the animal. It mostly depends on the parents choice of direction towards the child. If a child grew up on a farm, they would most likely know how to take care of a ferret, but if one grew up with no expectations, they would most likely not be responsible for care of the ferret. Overall, please next time just try to be a bit more aware of the people who may be watching, other than that it was a good guide. I wasn’t trying to cause any drama I would just like to let you know what I thought. So please no hurt feelings!

Is that okay?

Okay so first of all I wanted to say a huge tank thank you for for being such a great influence her and I've always wanted a favorite like always when I die. I just always thought they're so cute and awesome and I always have hamsters and snails and those were my only pets I didn't have any other pets and then I saw a fair and I was like oh my God it's so cute but I I'm already when I wanted them I was 10 years old so I just didn't think much of it I asked my dad for a ferret and he said no because it's too much of a hassle so I went on the internet and I found your channel telling how much and like how much it takes to take care of hair properly and that kind of made me not want to favorite but I never saw how hard it is to feed them and you didn't make a video that I actually understood with you telling how to feed your ferret like where do you get your food like is it from a special Market or like is chicken okay is like rabbit okay is a duck okay like you know what I mean like you never said what exactly is good for your hair and what's not also if you feed them raw then like I would really like to see how you prep their meals you know and how many times a day you have to feed your ferrets I would just really really like to know how do you do that so if you please can make a video dedicated to a whole week of you feeding your ferrets and how does dermal look and like you don't have to necessarily tell where do you get your meals from where do you get your meat from just please tell what an animal is this what part is it and is like a market one good or no also I Love you

I have a question, can you feed a ferret raw and kibble at the same time? Not in the same bowl but like one day kibble another day raw?
@Vagabond_Etranger4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. I rotate the old kibbles & turn it into a smoothie mixture in a blender. Mix in some ground chicken, turkey. They also have kibbles, Nature's Variety Instinct, whenever I'm sleeping or at work.

I'm not sure whether to get rats or ferrets. I have had rats before but never ferrets. I know that ferrets are a lot more hyper so that's one reason why I'm leaning more towards rats but idk

Im gonna be a ferret owner and I think I do too much research even thought I'm a Kid I think im really responsable for my age and I know the things that you shouldn't be giving a ferret ,don't give your ferret water bottles they should have a bole, wisk a egg and give it to the ferret Instead of giving it past its Bad for them and I know much more....

Pleeease do a video of how much a ferret cost like in 1 month!! pls
@Operator_Viking4 жыл бұрын
Price of pet store ferrets which I do not advocate for, adopt or get from a reputable breeder, is around 200 dollars, exotic vet visits run about 140 a pop, emergency surgeries range from 1000-5000 dollars, quality food depending on the amount of ferrets owned runs between 80-160 dollars a month, a good breeder ferret runs between 500-1200 dollars and most ferret rescues have a 75 dollar per ferret adoption fee. And any ferret you get from a pet store or a shelter will need an immediate wellness and fecal check running about 300 dollars, breeder ferrets you are generally safe from parasites and other issues because they are all properly vetted before they are sold. Keep in mind buying a pet store ferret allows inhumane mills to keep producing them and selling them to labs, and to owners with tons of health issues. Then a good cage will run around 250, although they should be out of the cage for most of the day, plus blankets and hammocks, enrichment items. To sum it all up ownership of a new ferret is going to run around 2 thousand for proper startup.
@emmapedersen91544 жыл бұрын
@@Operator_Viking Where I live it is not allowed to buy ferrets from a petstore. You have to consult a breeder. Where I buy the ferret from, they cost $ 420. Then they are health checked, chipped and vaccinated. My real question was how much they cost a month, like food and such.
