These are the things that you need to know before coming to Quebec: Super high taxes, Ongoing constructions that closes roads everywhere but the road is still full of potholes the size of sinkholes, lots and lots and lots of snow so requires super snow-shovelling skills, education system is super cheap and good daycare + public elementary school is good + must go to subsidized private high school + super good universities, healthcare system is crumbling and no decent Chinese food. Québec's culinary scene is outrageously good in every single culture's food in the world except Chinese food.

Thank you for sharing your perspective! Quebec has its challenges, but you’ve captured its unique strengths too. I’m curious-any hidden gems for Chinese food you’d recommend?

I used to live in St. Pierre, right by Martin Lapointe Arena. It’s been a long time. Is the West Island still nice? Specifically Pointe-Claire and DDO

Hi Derek, thanks for your comment. It is still a nice place. Just out of curiosity, where do you live now ? Have a great day 😃

@@gablaflammeproI live in the States. Thinking about possibly moving back. If I do, it would be further away from downtown. Merci mon frère 👍

Yes West Island is still nice, the best place to live and raise a family imo. DDO is very convenient with all the great stores at your doorstep and with great houses, a very convenient highway that takes you everywhere you want to go but a bit boring. Pointe-Claire is DDO but more vibrant with more boutique places. Kirkland is DDO but more upscale. Overall, DDO+Pointe-Claire+Kirkland make up the best of West Island it can offer. You really don't need to go anywhere and can't anyway with the stupid Montreal mayor Valerie Plante closing all the streets in Montréal and turning them into pedestrian-only streets and getting rid of all the parking spaces to build those bike lanes that are only used for at most 4 months in a year.
