---------------About Rock a Little Travel-----------------
Hello. My name is Eden and welcome to my channel. I am the blogger behind the website Rock a Little Travel. My blog focuses on what I refer to as “part-time travel.” This means that I work a day job in one location (currently Los Angeles), but travel as much as possible in my free time using weekends, paid time off, and holidays. I typically travel at least once per month.
If you’d like to learn how I travel so much you can visit my blog Rock a Little Travel to learn how you can do it too.
When I’m not traveling I’m hanging out at home in LA with my senior wiener dog Melvin.

As a Bergen native, your list looks good! Regarding the two mountains you visited, I was happy to see that you walked down Mt Fløyen (the smaller of the two), as that is something almost anyone can do, and it saves some money. But moreover, I think anyone who is able to complete a cardio workout at the gym can also walk _up_ Mt Fløyen, which for me takes around 45 minutes at a normal leasurely pace, and saves you even more money. Make sure to walk different routes up and down. The more adventurous can also walk down from Mt Ulriken and back into the city centre to save money. Walking up Ulriken is obviously also possible, but since it's twice the height of Mt Fløyen, and offset a little bit from the city centre, maybe consider using the cable car and integrated bus connection that direction. I would also recommend trying whale meat, one of the few places in the world you can do that. Pingvinen usually sells that I believe. A final piece of advice is to explore the traditional wooden neighbourhoods behind Bryggen and in other locations in the city centre, mostly built between 1702 and 1850, and find your way through the warren of irregular streets and alleys.

@@rockalittletravel Please also allow me to add: * I think the Natural History Museum is a great visit, it has retained the old late-1800's style of such museums and escaped much of the "interactive exhibit" trend employed elsewhere. * There's a group of museums around Bryggen, the actual Bryggen Museum, Schjøttstuene and the Hanseatic Museum. The latter is closed for a multi-year rennovation but should open again in 2026 or so. I think they are available on a single ticket, or you get a rebate on visiting multiple of these three. * I also really recommend going inside the two main buildings at Bergenhus Fortress, even though it costs a bit of money.

Yes, I bet. I was there in September and was told I got VERY lucky with the weather. Apparently it had been raining every day for the last several weeks.

I just got back from a cruise that started in Bergen 2 weeks ago. I got there on a Saturday and it rained fairly heavily all day long. Sunday it rained for about 2 hours and then the sun came out and it was gorgeous. On Monday it rained all day long, and on Tuesday it rained for maybe 5 hours, and cleared up. Our cruise ship left later that night to cruise around the Baltic. The further away we got from Bergen, the better the weather became. I thought I was there during the end of the rainy season, until I looked at the weather forecast several days ago, and it called for rain every single day for the next week.

I know you have a seafood allergy, but in my opinion, the best restaurant in the city is Fjellskal which is in the indoor fish market. You need reservations for it, but it had amazing seafood, and the best soup I have ever had in my life.

We will be spending one day in Bergen while touring in July, and this video was so helpful. I would love to know what you thought the highlights of Bryggen are. Happy Trails!
@rockalittletravel
@rockalittletravel Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment. The highlights for me were Bryggen and the waterfront because it's so pretty, riding the Funicular up to Mount Floyen for the views, and the Fjord tour. If you're only in town for one day, these things are all right next to each other in the city center area. I think you can really see a lot with one day in Bergen. Just be sure to plan out your itinerary ahead of time so you know where you're going and when.

From a Bergenser (person from Bergen) If you want to explore Bryggen, just walk into the many nooks and crannies, or smitt and smau as we call them (narrow pathways). The front of Bryggen is mainly dominated by souvenir shops for tourists, but if you just walk in between the buildings you'll find many hidden small craft-shops, cafés, gardens and places to sit and relax. July is high season for tourism, so it will likely be crowded. Also visit Torgallmenningen, the city's main square or plaza if you will, located just on the opposite side of the harbour, and of course as she mentioned in the video, a trip to mount Fløyen is a must. You'll find the funicular at the end of Bryggen where the fish market starts, and up a small hill.
@erics607
@erics607 Жыл бұрын
@@peacefulminimalist2028 Is Torgallmenningen the area that is closed off to all automobile traffic? I randomly walked down this way as it was really close to the hotel I was staying at (Bergen Bors), and it was really cool. They had all of these wooden contraptions set up that were essentially toys that the kids could play with.

It could take up to 3 hours depending on what trail you take. There is a trail that takes up to 2 hours that takes you around the lakes, but if you follow the trail that everyone is taking, then it should take about 45 minutes depending on how long you stop to take pictures haha.

This video was filmed in September 2022. Though to be fair, I was told I got very lucky with the weather during my visit. It might be a bit rainier if you visit during that time as well.
