@@MrFrost-xh6rf that seems pretty low...but most actors working saturday morning kids shows were not paid that well at the time. I believe the cast of Saved by the Bell faced similar issues. Good point. I would say Rocky actually gets more respect in the recent Power Rangers comics. Jason has been treated almost like a mentor/ big brother figure to him in the comics series. Adam was really close to becoming a leader figure on the show. After all he was Zeo Ranger Number 4 at one point. Catherine really felt like a female counterpart to Tommy. Both being some kids who were mind controlled to hurt people they would consider their friends.

I attended the high school that this show used to film as Angel Grove High: it was really Ulysses S. Grant HS in Southern California. That is why the front shot always had a tree branch blocking the name on the entry wall, that was on purpose. I remember all the posted notices on the walls announcing which parts of the building was off limits/which classes had to be moved somewhere else because of filming and to never go anywhere near that parking lot where the production and cast trailers were staged. The study hall of the American Jew university in Simi Valley was used for the exterior shots of Zordon’s command center, it USED TO be open to the public. I guess too many numbnuts barging in, wandering around and bugging ppl with stupid questions about the show. Vasquez Rocks National park is where they also filmed a lot, take a look and immediately you will recognize the rocks. IMO: mmpr is THE power ranger series, none of the others compare. For me, it was the cast. They had amazing synergy together; you got the feeling that they truly liked each other in real life, maybe might have even been friends.

So much love and nostalgia for MMPR. I'm older than my brother by about 8 years, and watching Power Rangers was the first time we really bonded as siblings. My mom also pulled the "Christmas coup" the year the show came out. She saw the toys at Toys R Us, thought they looked like something my brother would like, and bought all the 12" articulated rangers, along with some of Rita's cronies, before the show even came out. She kept the receipts just in case he didn't end up liking it. When he did, and the toy craze meant empty shelves, she pulled me aside to show me the toys she'd bought and tucked into a suitcase in her closet to give him. I loved getting to be in on the secret that he was going to have a Power Rangers Christmas. Those toys were the best! He also had one of the Game Gear games. I fell out of watching partway into Zeo, but picked it back up with Dino Thunder, where Tommy the OG Green Ranger was now a high school science teacher and mentor to a new group of Rangers. I was early in my teaching career at that point, and it made me so happy to see him back, and having gone into teaching, too. I've since rewatched from the beginning, and gotten all the way through RPM (with the exception of Mystic Force). Had to stop there because Netflix took it off-air and it wasn't streaming anywhere else I could find. I love Power Rangers to this day.

One thing that actors or actresses, should have never ask for more money. In movie or TV show, because you be immediately be kicked out and replaced.

An irony is Zak, Jason, and Trinny were also fired for asking for more money. Saban pulled some shady tricks to avoid paying his staff what they deserved. There's also the horrible way David was treated.
@user-si9fx4xb6v2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, once Austin St. John (Jason), Walter Jones (Zach) and Thuy Trang (Trini) left a part of me left with them. I also learned recently that both Austin and Thuy really had a tough time getting other acting jobs once they left Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Austin went back to teaching martial arts and then became a Firefighter/Paramedic until Saban discovered just how popular the character of Jason was with children watching the show and Austin came back for Power Rangers Zeo (Jason becoming the second Gold Ranger on the show). He also appeared in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997) and also guest starred on Power Rangers: Wild Force and Power Rangers: Beast Morphers. Thuy acted in the 1996 movies Spy Hard and The Crow: City Of Angels before taking a break. She had planned on returning to acting prior to her sudden death in 2001. If she was still with us, I can only imagine what she would be doing now. Gald that Walter Jones has kept busy with lots of work on tv shows and a few movies hear and there. Plus he is a voice over actor, doing work for animation and video games. He also came back to voice the monster of the day in some of the later seasons of Power Rangers. really sad to hear about David Yost's treatment behind the scenes. Glad he is still working in show business today.

@user-si9fx4xb6v3 жыл бұрын
Yes, actress Thuy Trang sadly died in a car accident in 2001. The cast of MMPR addended her funeral. As I mentioned above, she left the show in season two due the low pay the actors were getting and the producers refused to let the show become a Union supported one.

Honorable Mention: During the 1980s USA network had a great lineup of Friday Late Night programming called, Night Flight. It featured films and shorts generally now shown on other channels, even paychannels. They showed the Banned Mel Brooks video To Be or Not to Be. They also showed the Japanese Power Ranger episodes re-dubbed into English with different dialogue and storylines like Woody Allen's "What's up Tiger Lily? " It was hallrious.

12:54 Minty, you are not the only one, who didn’t like the cast change. I didn’t like the cast change personally, I prefer Austin St. John, Walter Jones, and Thuy Thrang were the best original Power Rangers. I can actually understand the main reason, why they stood up to the show runners of getting more money because they were being taken advantage of because Power Rangers was an non-union production. That is really sad for Power Rangers actors.

I don't think so. In the West, we often think of yellow as a more effeminate color, so it would make sense to have a second female Ranger be the yellow one.
@CONSOLETRUTH23 жыл бұрын
@@kenhollis6197 gotcha. Here in the US saying yellow (skin) is a kind of racial slur towards Asians. Then again calling someone yellos essentially another way of calling them a chicken/coward
