DO NOT GO TO BOOTCAMP IF YOU CANNOT PASS YOUR PFA. You will put yourself at risk of being asmo’d (set back in training) or being processed out. That is one of the main reasons why recruits don’t make it through behind mental issues. Workout, lose weight and get into shape.

I'm gonna play devil's advocate here and say that if you are close to being able to pass your PFA, then it's okay to join. I was overweight and out of shape when I first joined. I was able to lose 25lbs before being shipped to basic, but was still listed as being overweight even though I was only 5lbs over. I literally worked my ass off during basic and was able to pass the final PFA. I did have to retake it though because my partner counting my push-ups shorted me like 5, the bastard. But I passed. Point being, even if you don't think you can pass the PFA now, doesn't mean that you can't pass it in the end. You just gotta work your ass off, your RDCs will notice your efforts, and you'll eventually get there. It all depends on how bad you want it!

Some things that happen half way through. You’ll get depressed / feel lethargic and annoyed and tired of the job. You’ll feel stuck and no matter how much you want out you have to finish your contract. You’ll work jobs you dislike, as in I worked admin /checking patients into a pt clinic for two years, I was randomly put on an inventory team (scanned 11,000 items in the hospital), I was put on flu team giving flu shots, I was pending for a covid deployment where we couldn’t take leave. I now do blood draws at a lab in the hospital, but I have fmtb in two months to then go to fort Belvoir afterwords to work in a family medicine clinic. It’s odd that December 06 2018 was so long ago, I remember anxiously watching these videos playing warzone listening to scrubs by pouya and shakewell on loop as I was so nervous and I had no idea what to expect. I got to boot and it was wild as shit, my petty officer smashed a table and chair in the middle of our room like some wwe raw type shit. I had some dumb moments like spraying the fire extinguisher the wrong way 😭😂😂. You’ll have moments where you really cut it close, like during line handling I had to be the person to say all the commands. I had no idea what anything was and I was legit just asking god for help, but I fucking lucked out Bc my homie knew everything and just told me, keep in mind this was the redo for our whole group Bc we failed the first time. I went to A school in Texas and I just remembered being so stressed to pass those tests in HM a school you take 14 tests and 29 labs in three months I was so nervous all I did was eat healthy study and pray ahahaha. Nah it was actually fun seeing San Antonio. When I graduated I went home then got stationed on camp Lejeune in North Carolina. I lived in the barracks, I’m a bit of a loner so It kinda felt lonely so I just spent a lot of time skateboarding after work to the beach nearby to take photos and have a beer. It was pretty damn cool also seeing people land fishing and reeling in a great white as I’m sitting there in the sand like 20 ft from them lol. People can be cool and they can be dicks. The bad part is you sort of just have to learn how to be with people you dislike for long periods of time and it’ll break you. I had a good number of mental health difficulties I developed but I’ve been trying my best to push through. If my ass can make it through boot camp before I have to do boot camp 2 halfway through y’all can make it. If you need anyone to ask questions too and al that just message me on Instagram. You skipped one important question for the navy -- do you know how to swim? I almost joined the navy, but the recruiter couldn't care less. He told me to have a seat and said he would be back in a minute. I sat in the office 45 minutes while he was in the other room, so I left and visited the air force recruiter. We talked for nearly an hour and I enlisted with him..

You can have tattoos in the Navy. But if the tattoo is located on the face, head, ear, scalp, torso, or neck, you will need to meet with a local recruiter to find out for sure if you can join.

Hey JT. I recently finished my physical at MEPS along with picking my rate and swearing in. My recruiter knew I had my heart set on being HM and my ASVAB scores allow me to qualify for that and many other rates, but they only offered me undesignated and MM. Undesignated leaves next July and MM this December. They pressured me into picking MM. my question is now until December or now until next July there wouldn’t be a HM spot available?? Like are u kidding me. That’s bull. I’m not going to BT if I don’t get that rate.

Sup JT! It’s been a while I’ve been busy with MCJROTC, I’ve really been thinking of joining the U.S. NAVY to carry my on my pops career. He served aboard CV-43 and CV-60. He was a director Petty Officer Second class. 12 years 9 months and I’m in MC-JROTC and I’ve really gotten my hopes up high for it, it’s a very hard decision. Would you recommend Reserve’s or Full active Duty?
