10 Things You Need To Know Before Buying The 2024 BMW X1

The BMW X1 is the most affordable crossover SUV in the brand's lineup, but it hardly seems like it when you drive it. It's enjoyable to drive and pretty roomy for a little SUV. BMW has also packed in a lot of its latest technology features. A cumbersome engine stop-start system and odd transmission tuning, though, slightly tarnish what is otherwise a well-done vehicle.

The enthusiasm here is mostly warranted. However, even with 18” wheels, on washboard you feel like you’re experiencing a minor earthquake. And the lag/lurch from a stop and when maneuvering in tight quarters is disconcerting. The AWD is terrible for maneuvering in snow. Other than that the car is nimble, quick, quiet, roomy and comfortable. Thumbs up for me!!

I love the look of my X1 but the lag from stop and go is really bothering me. Also I find the ride stiff and bumpy. Braking is super jerky. Almost wanted to get rid of it and go buy a Mazda CX-5 but will be losing a lot of money.
