Every city has crime. Also according even to the FBI, cirywide crime is a very unhelpful stat because crime happens for so many reasons and have so many factors. In most cases crime is not random, meaning you either know the perpetrator already, other than that, you're much more likely to get in a car accident than suffer violent crime anyway.

I've been to places that have similar population sizes and don't have half the amount problems that New Haven has. Big city crime, drugs, traffic, rents, pollution, violence, homelessness, taxes, unemployment, poverty, and it's not a big city. And anyone who says "I love New Haven" is either insulated by Yale, has never been anywhere else, or they take comfort in knowing that they can and eventually will leave. The majority of us are not so lucky, and just trying to survive.

They finally got called out during an 'on oath' congressional hearing and revised their numbers up by 1 million. That's 1,000,000. You and I have been lied to for as long as we've been alive.
