This is one of my fav videos a lovely bottle Hsin-Chuen, thank you for the demo. With slim bottles I've found that people are frightened of opening the pot too wide! But this has to be so to create the cylinder that starts most pots and to strengthen the bottom. With collar. pinch, collar pinch collar pinch it's really quite easy to bring the bottle inwards to create a bottle you want from the cylinder. I hope many will find your narration and skill with this video to show exactly how to make a slim bottle' It's true that this form is one of the more difficult to control from start to finish, I love skinny bottle mostly because of the challenge. My favourite has to be teapots though, your videos of making teapots takes us through from start to finish and I ah e leaned a lot about making this form. Thank you. I've no cause to complain, this is/was just an observation, mostly the top of the bottle was out of sight! due to camera angle.

Very nice. Your wedging reminds me of a video showing how to turn a sphere inside out.

you use so little water when throwing, I am trying to use less after watching. You have an eye for beautiful form. Thanks for sharing. When throwing tall do you use firmer clay?
@hsinchuen14 жыл бұрын
@slurpeejerky711 The stoneware clay is called T-2 and it's from the Silicon Valley clay supplier. I mixed it with Laguna Clay Co.'s B-Mix about 2 to 1 ratio.

Hsin, At the very top of your tall vase, there is a horizontal lip, maybe 1.25"in diameter. It appears... but the video does not show how to make it and I struggle with this part. I love your work and have learned alot from them. Please advise. Thanks dorie

Hello Questions for you what type of clay should I use for tall pieces like that. Im experimenting at the moment with different types of clay with out any luck. I worked with moist clay no good and now I'm working with sculptural clay with grog but that too collapses in the middle when trying to shape it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you live in the US, B-mix with grog is good the throw with.

@doriecronin I don't quite understand the term "flat plane". Can you describe more detail of the "shape" or "technique"?

Sorry to bother but- how many pounds of clay did you use? Do you have a video showing how you hold your outside hand when lifting the pot? Many thanks for your time!!
