For this list, we’ll be looking at members of cartoon casts who were written out of shows due to the passing of real life people. Our list includes Mermaid Man from “Spongebob Squarepants” (1999-), Malory Archer from “Archer” (2009-), Bruticus from “The Transformers” (1984-87), and more! After the death of Phil Hartman, his characters: Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz were never seen or mentioned again.

Had I been the creator of The Simpsons, I would’ve handled those characters differently in wake of Phil Hartman’s death. Troy McClure would’ve gotten a promotion where he’d get a chance for much bigger roles in big budgeted films than just the educational and small films he’d appear in throughout the series, which would cause him to move out of Springfield to Hollywood. But for Lionel Hutz on the other hand, I never liked that character as much as Troy McClure, so unlike him, he’d get the short end of the stick; he’d get killed off and an episode of the Simpsons would’ve had Ken Brockman reporting his death on the news for a moment.

Jessica Walter's death hit me the hardest. She was such a beautiful and talented woman, and I'm a *HUGE* Archer fan. I was never a big Sponge Bob fan, but I was sad to hear Ernest Borgnine had passed on too. He starred in so many movies and Airwolf was a great series as well. When Jessica Walter passed away it was a sad day for Archer fans everywhere, but at least they gave Malory a fitting farewell! i can't think of a better way to officially end her arc in the series than to have her pass on the torch to Archer and then live out the rest of her days in retirement in her husband.

They weren't mentioned in the list, but two voice actors I really miss is John Witherspoon who voiced Grandad and Charlie Murphy who voiced Ed Wuncler lll in a cartoon called The Boondocks. I think the cartoon was cancelled after season 4 before either one died though. There was talk of bringing the show back, but I think it ultimately fell through unfortunately.

I’m still in Denial of Kevin Conroy’s death but just remember that the character Batman like many cartoon characters, has like a million voice portrayals over the years. Some Actors who have voiced Batman have come real close to peak Kevin Conroy level for example Roger Craig Smith, Bruce Greenwood, Troy Baker, Diedrich Bader and Rino Romano

And now Louie Anderson himself is gone. I remember his cartoon show, but even moreso than that, he was the first host of the revival version of _Family Feud_ that has been going strong since 1999, ending his run in early 2002 before being replaced by Richard Karn (Al from _Home Improvement_ ).

Mallory Archer technically didn't disappear the sense of the plot, she was recalled as missing for a few episodes but during the end of the latest season she was given a nice send-off in an island with her lover, sipping champagne.
