Other chefs have spoken out about how unrealistic an environment Hell’s Kitchen is compared to real-life restaurants, even in haute cuisine. You don’t have silly challenges and punishments and drama with your coworkers (well, not same kind of drama, anyway) to sap your energy; you’re not cut off from your loved ones and the rest of the outside world; and you don’t usually have a chef as enraged as Ramsay hollering a torrent of verbal abuse in your face over the slightest mistake. It’s a stressful occupation, but not on the same level or in the same ways as HK. I bet Peter’s doing just fine wherever he is now.

You know what. Shout out to Peter for understanding his limits. He didn't force himself to do something he was hating, something that was stressing him out, and he didn't let himself drag the team down by doing stuff he wasn't cut out for. It takes its own type of strength to be able to acknoledge your own weaknesses. Not everyone is prepared for leadership or authority positions. Apparently he's currently running a food truck and I wish him all the best on that. Much less stressful then running a full restaurant.

I feel like Peter's mid-service elimination is more on him indirectly quitting by admitting to Chef Ramsay that he's not ready to be the head chef and the Chef simply granting his request by eliminating him. calmly telling him to bring which made things easier for both of them since there's no drama and yelling in his elimination, I like how Chef Ramsay just calmly told him to take his jacket off and f*ck off unlike the other chefs who got mid-service eliminations.

@@XperimentorEES In a nutshell, he was getting carried on the blue team and they got tired of him and put him up for elimination. Ramsey decided to cut him a break and sent him to the red team where he was immediately hostile to the women which made them instantly dislike him. He kept arguing with them pretty much at every turn even when they were trying to help him. During the service where he got kicked out, he kept messing up to the point where even the nicest red team member gave up on him since he kept messing up on his station. He had passion but he made both teams hate him because of his attitude and inability.

Do you know that it's reality tv? Like a lot of the plot is staged, the videos are edited to portray certain views. With cutting a video the right way you can prove a lot of points. In Hells Kitchen the show and views come first and the food always second. With that in mind it's totally possible Jen was actually set up, though it's not proven in any way

I sympathize with Peter a lot. I used to work 52 hour weekly shifts doing something I’m good at, but when you struggle and put your back on so much at once and work overtime to where your mind and body is turning against you… it wasn’t worth the stress, pain, and even the money. You gotta do what makes you happy, even if it’s challenging, but not if it breaks your limit and sanity in an unhealthy environment.

Yup had to quit a job paying 17 hr working over 60 per week they thought it was never enough my son was a new born I didn’t even see him that much I work there for 4 years and they never gave fulltime benefits because all contract were “part time” and whatever it was over five hrs for them it was a privilege i quit after a month my son was born cause i wanted time with my family and got a way easier and better payed job with weekends off

Gabriel's ejection was the most heartbreaking for me. He was kinda clumsy and he had a pretty bad start of S12, but honest to god I thought he was gonna be on a Tennille-esque comeback. And then that one dinner service happened and he crashed and burned on fish. Mad respect for him, and I love how he went on Cutthroat Kitchen and won.

Nilka's elimination I think is the saddest, but ended well for both her and Gordon. He met her when she was about to enter her cab, then explqined everything calmly. No drama here, just reconciliation, and of course Gordon asked for the jacket which Nilka pretended to wanting to keep it with her.

It’s easy to make fun of these people when they are so upset, or when they cook bad, but it’s so stressful to be in this kind of environment, and if you move wrong you go out of sync with your team and it can be impossible to get back into it. Then, when you know you are failing yourself and your team, Gordon comes over and tells you that your also failing him and the customers, it’s the chefs fault, but it can be hard to realize that them getting so upset can be more than just “Gordon sucks and I am angry”

everybody talking about peter but nobody talking about Ben who, despite not really liking lacey, didn't want her too go down in flames, it was truly a moment of actual teamwork because even though this is a competition, you still have to be respectful too the other competitors, Ben noticed the state she was in and immediately jumped in to help her out, thats a quality that you ACTUALLY want in a chef because at the end of the day you can have 10 professional chefs working a kitchen with no teamwork, and still be beaten by 10 home chefs who all work together

Props to Peter for being a big enough person to be able to say, "I'm in over my head, I'm not ready for this." Even if it means more money and a better job title, sometimes you are just not ready yet. I've turned down promotions, and I've said, "I'm freshly graduated, I'm still learning, I'm not ready to be in that position yet. I need to learn from others right now, not be the one people look to for information." Executive chef positions will be out there and be ready for Peter when he's ready. It takes a lot of intelligence and introspection to be able to do what he did.

I saw a thing where KZbin channel FlynnMasters said that Jen’s Season 18 ejection was more of a rage-quit, and I have to agree that it straddles the line between the two. Given how she was so willing to hand her jacket in even before Ramsay told her to remove it, you can tell she was done and ready to walk out the door. It is a shame too, as Jen had the longest time between her initial season and All-Stars. Yet instead, to quote Trinity The Tuck: She’s not the same, She’s WORSE!

To be fair to Peter, he wasn't eliminated like the rest of them were. He was honest enough to admit that he wasn't ready to be a head chef. You have to respect him for his honesty.
