id say ma long is technically better than xu xin, but xu xin plays in a way that the ball is more epic. Ma long plays in a more standard way

The phrase "shocked the world" is a bit over the top, isn't it? Don't get me wrong, it's a great art form, but it's only table tennis. Nobody will be shocked by it, but they will definitely be impressed.

He's simply saying that these shots didn't quite literally "shock the world" (which in theory is true, if you don't interpret "the world" as "the world of table tennis"). not defending him, still a random thing to say, just objectively clarifying.
