You have to remember this are wild animals regardless of them being in a Sanctuary. They are doing what wild animal do. Poor mother of a11 year old boy. This is why safaris should be phased out. I’m not sure why the park allowed a family to sleep in a tent inside of sanctuary where wild animals are. It just doesn’t make any kinda sense.

If people use common sense, their chances of being attacked by wild animals will be greatly reduced. I will not go on a safari if the vehicle does not offer adequate protection from animals attack and I won’t get out of the vehicle for any reason during the safari.

Before anyone goes on a safari they should have to meet certain criteria, such as taking an IQ test and/or passing a five-year old’s common sense test. Who, with any intelligence, would have no qualms in getting out of a vehicle while on safari? Where does one go on a safari? Did anyone notice the safari park rides; the ferris wheel where you can kiss a giraffe from your gondola? The swimming area where you can swim with the lovely reptiles? The pet feeding area where you can be hugged by a cute 18-foot python? How did some of these people ever make it to adulthood? Certainly one has to have a brain to attain that achievement...

The story behind the woman who got gored by the rhino was that the couple were being given a tour by the reserve’s owner. He offered to take their picture in front of several rhinos, so they got out of the jeep. He then told them to back up closer to the rhinos, which they did not want to do, but he kept telling them it would be fine, they were in no danger and the pic would be so much better. Against their better judgment, but thinking the owner would know what he was talking about, they back up a few steps and one of the rhinos attacked. A hard lesson in trusting your judgment, regardless of who says what. She was almost killed.

@@suerichards47 While I agree with your sentiment, I also realize there's a lot more to conservation than simply giving the land back to the animals. Breeding programs and veterinary care are costly, and these parks are supposed to help educate people about what these creatures are, and why they're important to our species and the habitability of our planet. Even the 11 year old was part of nature in a cold and indifferent universe. He could just as easily be run over by a bus or hit by a meteor back home. This reality isn't a safe place, not for us, not for the animals, and not even for 11 year olds.

I totally agree with you! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. TL,DR It is not the safari park's fault these ladies were mauled, but it might be the safari park's fault one of them died from those injuries. Unfortunately, I feel there's a 2nd question that must be asked: If guests visiting a safari park are being harmed by park animals, don't employees have a responsibility to help them (as opposed to just standing by and watching guests be mauled) ?? Is it the safari park's fault this lady and her mom were mauled? Absolutely not! The lady made a deliberate, unreasonable, and very stupid choice to leave the safety of her vehicle (and the mother exited the vehicle trying to save her daughter from being mauled to death). However, if something does go wrong, it IS reasonable for guests to expect the park/employees to have a "just in case" plan. It IS reasonable to expect employees of a safari park to be both knowledgeable and trained in how to 1) separate guests from animals during attacks or other dangerously close encounters 2) perform basic first aid on injured guests until professional medical help arrives 3) react promptly/quickly during emergencies Maybe, if park employees had reacted sooner, the mother wouldn't have felt forced to try to rescue her daughter herself

I give half the blame to the victim; no one could pay me enough to take a canoe ride where hippos live...lol 2.) Stay away and save the wild animals!!! The young Chinese woman who got out of her car and her mother followed her to try to get the lion off of her and is suing the park is ridiculous. The story I heard when this first happened was that she had an argument with her husband and got out of the car from front passenger seat and walked around to the driver’s seat. I watched that video. She made of the excuse of being sick because she wanted to sue for her mother’s death when it was her own darn fault! Why would you bring a toddler on a safari?
