Here's a true story: I bought a copy of the Dwayne Johnson 3-disc set a few years ago at an fYe store in Warwick RI. They had a copy of it for $19.99 all by itself, but if you got the special "2-fer" including the WM27 DVD, it cost $9.99. That's right, if you bought the 2-for-1 deal it was actually TEN DOLLARS LESS than the Rock DVD by itself. WWE knew Wrestlemania 27 was so damn shitty it dragged the price of their Dwayne Johnson DVD down ten fucking dollars when it was placed alongside it in a two-pack. That, my friends, is a corporate declaration of defeat.

Along with all of WM9 that Wrestlemania was a train wreck of a whole show, there was Booker T losing to Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship at WM19 which pretty much made the storyline concerning it all for nothing, and speaking of Triple H there's him beating Sting at WM31 a match no one wanted and outcome no one wanted all so Vince could remind us that WWE beat WCW in the Monday Night Wars for the 10,000,000,000+ time.

And this could be why!

The problem with matches following the likes of Taker Vs, Michaels and Hogan Vs. Rock isn't doing that at all, but that the matches following them didn't meet or exceed them. Triple H Vs. Jericho was better from a wrestling standpoint, but didn't have anywhere near the same level of crowd interaction and even lacked a video package. While Triple H Vs. Orton was a dull, plodding affair that should have devolved into anarchy. Instead, the match was fitted with the stipulation of Championship changing hands via disqualification. Despite the crazy build-up. The Triple Threat between Edge, Cena and Big Show rocked.

That weekend was all about promoting Sasha, and she ends up losing thanks to Ric Flair, while Becky looked like a jobber...then you have AJ losing his Mania debut because he "hadn't earned it" in Vince's eyes, The New Day losing their first PPV as successfully popular babyfaces just so The LON could get mauled by the Legends (as did Xavier), Brock and Dean having the infamous "nothing new" No Holds Barred Match, Shane taking Taker to the limit for over 40 minutes, The Wyatts being irredeemably buried by Rock and an injured Cena and, of course, the aforementioned Roman "crowning moment"...

Wrestlemania 39 night 2 was horrible. The Intercontinental Championship match has the (personal) highlight of the night. It saved the night after a match that seemed like it woulda fit better on raw or smackdown, then a tag match that woulda fit better on the kickoff show.

I was there live for WM27, and yeah, it was pretty much a dumpster fire. Started with shunting Bryan vs Sheamus to the preshow, which turned into a battle royal won by Great Khali (barf). Taker vs HHH and Rey vs Cody were the only WM-worthy matches. If anyone is wondering whether Cole vs Lawler was that bad…it was. The crowd HATED it with a burning passion and just wanted it to end. Edge was working hurt, Corre match and Snooki match were a waste of time, finish of Orton/Punk copied a spot from the go-home Smackdown, Miz gets concussed and becomes a third wheel in his own main event. Trash.
