We taught our kids to vacuum, do dishes, and pick up toys. The oldest is 9 and they do a great job! They each do one thing after dinner and I can get the baby ready for bed while my husband and older kids tidy and clean up after dinner. It is so helpful and I feel it gives them a very useful life skill, to be able to see a mess and clean up after themselves.

My favorite tip I got from Hiw Jen does it is that she runs the Dishwasher right after dinner. Then she empties it before bed and that way there’s always a dishwasher to put dirty dishes in constantly so that nothing ends up in the sink

I never made my bed regularly before, but when we redid our bedroom over a year ago I told my husband I wanted us to do this. Neither of us grew up doing it. We always figured we get back in it later. LOL. I've been doing it for the past year and 1/2 and I have to say it makes all the difference in the world and it is so nice to get into a made bed each night. I love it now. I've only missed a few days in all that time. I need to really work on the touching things only once. I really need work here!!! I have too many piles and stacks that need a home!

YES to all of them. I was taught that way by my Mother and I started making my bed at 5 and started all they others as I grew. I am 63, I worked full time when my kids were little ( we didn’t have a dishwasher...but my dishes were done after every meal ) , beds were made before anyone got on the school bus and laundry was put away as soon as it was folded! So people can make a surprise visit and it looks like I knew they were coming... ! These are ALL excellent tips and once a person gets into that routine it’s second nature to do them 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Great video.

Likewise , including no sitting on the bed with street clothes. Also, no dishes at night must be left in the sink, no shoes must be worn in the house and the house must look neat at all times in case someone drop by. No excuses. These habits that are drilled into me that I have passed on to my kids.

💎Someone told me an old family saying: "As my granny used to say, DON'T put it down - put it away!! 💎Or (my idea) practice TUAYGA... which stands for Tidy Up As You God Along! 💎I let my bed, air for a few minutes before I make it. 💎Quote from 'Little Women': 'A place for everything and everything in its place.' 💎Free up accessible space instead of cluttering it up with things you neither really want or need; THEN you have room to put things away!! 💎Lastly, a truth you can only learn by experience: Instead of thinking you've got better things to do than faff about cleaning like some "Stepford Wife", you learn instead, that the wisdom of this kind of organisation can actually FREE UP your time‼️ And yes... why so many thumbs down... perhaps they are like I was and haven't understood the liberation of living this way.

I have coffee first followed by what I call “mo-cho’s”....morning chores! All beds get made, laundry is started and general tidying happens. It helps so much when everything is surface tidy so even if the day gets crazy and I can’t mop or such everything still looks super tidy! Yes, never let things just SIT! I am a long time FlyLady lover and still set a timer for 15 minutes to see how much I can clean or unclutter in that time frame several times a day. Great video!

Like your channel. I bring my wife of 34 years coffee and eggo waffle with a small yogurt every morning (I have done this for most of our married life) and after I set down her cup and plate I quickly make her side of the bed and then go over and make my side of the bed. I open the curtains on the window and there we have a bright new day (even if it is raining out or cloudy) and the bed is made. My wife eats and has her coffee as we have our morning conversation and then when she is done we pray so that we can start our day. My dad always said you can tell how a man lives by the way he keeps his car and my mom said you can tell how a man lives by the way he keeps his house. Blessings P. Randy Bourque

People often get insecure when a rational person tells them to do a little a day such as one load of laundry a day, or washing off your counters and not leaving things out. That is too overwhelming for people soemtimes and they want a magic wand to do their chores, so idk why they would watch cleaning tips. I think this video was fabulous and I have learned the one touch rule before I saw this and it is super effective

When I was young I used to ask my mom why do I need to make my bed, I’m just going to sleep in it again. Every night I run the dishwasher, and open it up to air dry before going to bed. My son empties it before he goes to school, and that way, as I'm cooking dinner I can just load dirty dishes into the washer, and it doesnt feel like I have to "do the dishes" after dinner. My kitchen has never been this tidy and manageable :)

My kitchen counter is cluttered because I don't have enough storage, or I just have too much...im awful about putting away my laundry, my husband jokes that I don't need a dresser, just live out of my laundry basket, I have gotten better in the past few weeks. I am so happy to find I am not alone in this .Best wishes from Scotland x ps I do make and strip my bed in hotels too.

Hi. So not everyone has a dishwasher- including myself- never had one. So a tip I learned from my father growing up is to always wash and dry my plate/utensils as soon as I finish using them. It takes about 2 minutes to do and that way you don’t end up with piles of dishes. Also while I am cooking I make it a point to wash the utensils as I go, while I am waiting for the onion to become golden, waiting for the sauce to boil.. you get the idea

This video is educative and simple to follow. My island get over run with paper. So, you are correct on that suggestions. Like you, every night dishes are packed in dishwasher or wash by hand. Pillows are straightened up in family room and hallway is neatened. The living and dining room always stay neat because no one really goes to those rooms. No televisions are there. But, the difficulty I have is keeping flat surfaces like the island, counters , kitchen table and hallway table clear of paper, junk mail etc.

Thank you for making this video and the one for organizing the kitchen. You have motivated me to start organizing and hopefully stop using the kitchen table as the drop off for everything.

Enjoyed the tips. Just an FYI for anyone who might not know that Mrs. Myers is not a disinfectant but is definitely sufficient at wiping up things on hard surfaces. 🙂

Making a bed is super easy when we don’t have 100 bedding items on it . I keep basic flat sheet 2 normal pillows with pillowcases and one/two quilt or whatever as per season . Nothing fancy. It hardly takes 2 mins to make my bed and I wash bedsheet and pillowcase even if I live alone each weekend so I always feel it fresh. Keeping minimum is the key for any clean place, learnt it very very hard way and still slip it sometimes lol

Me and my daughter don’t usually wear shoes in the house, but my husband and son don’t like to have their shoes off because they are always doing outdoor chores and they don’t want to take their shoes on and off until they are done for the day. I just have those boot brushes by the entry doors so they hopefully remember to use it.

I'm obsessed with your fireplace, just gorgeous. Great tips! I'd add that bathrooms should be disinfected frequently, especially under the toilet seat rim; consider avoiding disinfectant wipes for environmental reasons. Also, try to get household members to flush *after* putting lid down. Recycle, reuse, repurpose.

This is great! Thanks so much for these tips. It’s just me and my husband and I can’t seem to keep my house clean. He is my messy Marvin. So I will definitely use these tips. Thank you! And I love to make the bed in the morning but my other half sabotages me everyday🤦‍♀️

Yup! I'm a bed maker. Grew up in a large family...wasn't an option not to make my bed. I have taken that habit into adulthood.

I make my bed every day as do my kids. We had eight kids so I did 3-5 loads every day and I love doing laundry and hanging it outside. I vacuum morning and night and my kitchen is clean but I do have to much stuff on the counters. Love waking up to a clean kitchen!! And the shoes no shoes here either. We live on a farm and who knows what's on the boys shoes 😂😂 😂. Loved this video!!

I do make my bed as soon as I get up and another thing is to clean your kitchen sink at night before retiring and keep a window cleaner and paper towels under each sink to spray the counter and all porcelain and mirrors which takes 5 min. Pour a squirt of cheap shampoo (soap is soap) in each toilet and swish the brush around it every day, always clean and fresh. If you have boys use the same paper towel to clean up any sprinkles on the floor around the toilet.....
