Great advice at the start. Luckily I researched enough to know a little bit before buying a bow. I went to a big box store, and it felt wrong. So I went to my closest archery shop, and although I did get my bow tuned up and stuff situated better, I still didn't enjoy the experience. Just keep going places until someone cares about it like you do. I just wish I had bought my first bow from the shop that I enjoy, but my Realm SR6 isn't getting replaced anytime soon so they will just have to take my arrow money and live with me.

Fin And Arrow what I recommend is that you go shoot several different bows. Go to the shop and really shoot them. See what feels best for you. It seems everyone is different. I personally shoot a bowtech Realm SR6 but that’s just my preference. Let me know what you go with!
@LILBUB-kf4jc3 жыл бұрын
The reason I’m nervous to get into bow hunting is if I get a bad shot I don’t want the deer to have to live with a wound like that. Modern gun I’ve been lucky enough to not have to shoot twice (knock on wood) but there’s something in my head keeping me from wanting to commit to bow hunting because of that
@WhereTheRiverRuns3 жыл бұрын
A totally understandable thought my friend. Shot placement is key and perhaps even more important in bow hunting than rifle hunting. You hit a shoulder with a rifle, you likely killed your target. You hit a shoulder with an arrow, it may not penetrate. Practice is crucial in all of hunting. I try and shoot daily at least 4 months leading up to my bow hunt. Daily. 10-20 shots at different ranges. Having confidence in your shot is so important. Still, I know lots of really fantastic hunters who would rather not bow hunt for this very reason and you know what? That’s perfectly fine! Thanks for watching and for being a conscientious hunter, my friend! Good for you! -Gregg Flores

@Musty_Moth10 күн бұрын
I support this, more or less. I've been shooting with a bow since I was a kid, and I took four years off while I was living in Colorado. I'd sold my bow before I left to a friend, so I picked up a Bear Species XT, with the bottom end of that bow being 55 lbs. I'm fairly fit, but the muscle groups you use when drawing a bow are very rarely used for anything else in the way you use them when drawing, and despite being consistent with rock climbing (5.11c and V6/7 boulders, not great but I'm not a slouch) those muscles were COOKED after one afternoon if shooting the new bow in. Absolutely would have gone for the 45lb bow, but I was shooting 65 when I left so I wanted something I could grow into, and I guess I should have been careful of what I wished for. If I didn't have a deep love for archery, if that was my first bow, I would have been wildly disheartened. It was purely my experience of knowing what I used to be able to do that made me keep with it and get back into proper form. I bought my fiance1e a 25-45 lb bear, and it's working out excellently. She's used a bow in the past, but this is her first bow with all the bells and whistles and it's been sick watching her get into it

Jeffrey Spry hey, Jeff. Thanks for watching! I personally prefer fixed blade broadheads. For several reasons. No possibility of mechanical failure is one, but also, mechanical type broadheads are illegal in some states. Fixed broadheads are legal everywhere. I have found success with Montec myself but will admit I haven’t tried a bunch of others. Check to see if mechanicals are legal in your state. If they are, you might try one mechanical and one fixed. See which one you like. I wouldn’t recommend going cheap on your Broadhead. Hope that helps! Let me know what you do! -Gregg

How strong should a hunting bow at least be?
@WhereTheRiverRuns3 жыл бұрын
Some states have minimum requirements for poundage. Like 45 pounds say. But many don’t. Look into your state hunting laws to find out. Accuracy is super important. You can kill an elk with 45 pounds if you put your arrow in the right spot.

Had the bow set up at a pro shop. It performed just fine kzbin.infoUgkxQEKUoxLWwayEDZR0NKB-5limn4MBU-2L . And I would say this is a good starting now that I could pass down to my son when he is older.But the package was missing the release and a nock was missing from one arrow.Dealing with customer support was terrible. They suggested I buy a new release rather than correct their own quality control issue because it’s to expensive for the. to ship it out from China.Update: manufacturer got back to me and resolved the issue. I retract the above statement.

Normally you take the quiver off before you shoot
@WhereTheRiverRuns Жыл бұрын
You do not. Not in a hunting situation. All your shots will be quiver on. Same as you practice. Competition is a little different. Unless you hunt without a quiver and carry your arrows apart from your bow, you will be shooting with your quiver on in a hunting situation. Always.
