You’ve addressed this concept in other videos, but this presentation was extremely well done. I’m forwarding it to others. Thank you for continuing to publish excellent content. Best of luck to you and your family this deer season.

Super well done with video and illustration. I appreciate the pro hunting terminology you use the dialogue such as filling the freezer and talking about design. It is very important to think that we need to address the majority of the voting public that does not hunt and will be swayed by us. Definitely will watch again and share with others.

exciting to see all the shot footage! Worked hard to lower my aim point with this in mind and it paid dividends last year. the slow mo has shed a lot of light on why sometimes what I see on the dead animal after the hunt doesn't match what I thought I saw with my eyes lol

I noticed in the ground blind there was nothing on the string to help quiet the bow. If you put string silencers on it you could really reduce the deer’s reaction to the shot. That noise reduction is much more valuable than the few FPS you lose.
@jayrobertson232Ай бұрын
Yes, and No. Like he said in the beginning, the deer he’s hunting are pressured and as a direct result, nervous and jumpy. What he’s doing here is saving a lot of bow hunters from disappointment and deer from non-lethal injury.

Dr. G, I have heard hunters say to wait until a deer’s head was up before shooting so it can’t use the head’s mass coming up to help the body move down. Slow motion suggests the drop is much smaller if the head is up. What is your experience about this? Dr J from St Clair County. You might remember me from email discussions about 10 years ago.

I hunt 15 -20 yards away form my target most times. Should I aim at the bottom still or is it close enough not to worry about it? (pulling 70 , shooting grimreaper, and heaver arrow)
@tonywoconish6695Ай бұрын
🗣️aim low still. Grimreeper are awesome !!!! 🤠🇺🇸

Can you find an aerospace engineer to make silent fletching or fins? That would be a nice project however it's way above my education.
@mattatomattahtoАй бұрын
I actually looked into this. Like everything in archery it's a game of tradeoffs. High velocity makes air separation, turbulence, and drag which makes noise but it's also how the vanes stabilize the arrow. There are some vanes that supposedly fly quieter, but I imagine that has some tradeoff on rigidity. Modern compounds might just shoot too fast to be silent.

Great information as always. Assuming that you use a 20 yard pin and a 30 yard pin as appropriate, do you use a slightly different aim point at 30 versus 20 yards?
@GrowingDeerTVАй бұрын
I don't - I aim the same at all distances.

Does shooting a crossbow change your aim? Do you plan for less reaction time and adjust your shot
@GrowingDeerTVАй бұрын
I wouldn't - given the accuracy of crossbows! Deer can still react even at the speed of crossbows!

Looks like to me that the arrows are hitting the shoulder blade
@johnnewcomb5162Ай бұрын
You don't have to have a complete passthrough hitting the heart and the more they run the more they are getting cut inside compared to a complete passthrough. He is hugging the shoulder and getting plenty of penetration. I have learned that lesson against a friend that shoots 55 compared to my 72 full passthrough shots. They travel less and usually die in sight with his shoulder heart hit. Blood trails have to do with shot placement also with complete passthrough shots you might not have much blood unless the shot is perfect.
@coreyedwards187Ай бұрын
First, pass-through is great but not a necessity. Second, Dudes gettin up there in age, I doubt he's pulling a very heavy bow.
@bobbydenezza7795Ай бұрын
If your bow is quiet when you shoot, the deer likely won't duck your shot. If your bow is loud when it shoots, sure but not if it's quiet.
@GrowingDeerTVАй бұрын
arrows make noise when in flight.
@bowdeer5074Ай бұрын
Shoot traditional. Bow makes very little noise if any. Ive never had a deer react to the string. Have they taken a step? Yeah, only because it already was going to. Yes,the arrow travels slower and I have to be close. But have never seen a deer react to my string like the ones in this video.
@ClintonSmith-op5gbАй бұрын
Ive had reactions but not this dramatic. Im sure they were cherry picked videos. And everyone knows a deer moves but yeah not like this

@@bowdeer5074 unless a deers head is down the movement isnt enough to cause issues if you aim for the vital V. I am for the heart, this fella was banking for double lungs. Never even spoke about a heart punch

I am not a great shot, but boy was there a lot of deer that were back of the lung/ liver shot in this video. If you were showing these clips as examples of what not to do then I’d understand. I mean at 6:18, that deer was absolutely shot liver/stomach. I don’t make perfect shots all the time either, but man it seems like you guys aim behind that crease. Aim for the v, and start putting animals down faster. Just don’t turn into a jackass like pigman and promote shooting center mass. Yes I know I’m being a Karen, but sometimes things need to be said.
