As a boy in 1950, using a similar trap from a pier in Glebe Creek (near Annapolis) I caught the largest crab I've ever seen. It was almost unrecognizable for the nearly half inch of moss covering it. It was caught halfway up the side of the trap and was so big both sides lacked about two inches of closing at the top. It was too ugly to mess with, so I threw it back.

I dont have a boat so I'm restricted to docks. Only decent places I know of are Sandy Point and Matapeake. Any recommendations? Not looking for a spot to pull them up by the bushel but a decent haul of 2-3 dozen keepers over 6" would be nice! 😅 Plus the state parks get swarmed with summer camps every year and its illegal to beat the kids away with a stick...

Great tips..I absolutely love blue crab fishing..here's the kicker..I always throw them back because I don't eat seafood ..for me it's truly the thrill of the catch..and ohhh yes..keep ur spots secret..😆..I find turkey legs work the best for bait ..but it must be a SC thing..lol

Those traps come like that. That way you can stack them up in a milk crate.
