I do a lot of paint by numbers and I'm always interested in trying a product that I haven't yet bought. I was thrilled to see that craft ease came already mounted to a frame in your video. And getting a full set of extra brushes was a good feature as well. Or so I thought, until I went to the Craft Ease website to check out what prints they offered. Wow! They offer a rolled version for about 30 bucks, or a stretched version for an additional 25 bucks!! Holy cow!! Most expensive paint by numbers I've ever seen!! And the "extra" full set of (cheap) brushes were a very expensive 14.99!! Ouch. No thanks.
@tinyworldsofwonder3 жыл бұрын
True, they are on the spendy side, but they do license while 99% of paint by number companies use unlicensed artwork. I suspect that effects their pricing to some degree. Otherwise to each their own! 😀 I guess all I can do is give my experience, and my experience with this canvas was amazing! ❤️

Hi Jessica, Thank you for featuring my question this month, what a nice surprise! I'm finally cracking open the Craft-Ease Chaperon Rouge by Sybile Art. I'm just psyching myself up by watching your tutorials again. Can you please tell me how to add the water and or dish soap to the paint? Do you add it to the entire pot? You mentioned that only on some parts you want thinner paint while others it should be more full bodied. As well, I have a canvas that isn't mounted and it keeps rolling any ideas for tacking it down when I'm painting? Finally, do you think I should purchase a couple of better artist brushes on my first go at this or should I wait to see how I do and then purchase them the next painting if there is one, lol. I can get the two you mentioned if it will help lead me to success the first time around. My kit came with just 4 of the natural colour wooden brushes. I'm a bit worried about tackling the huge areas on the canvas. I don't want to make a streaky mess! You generally demonstrated small to medium areas. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and I think I need to just dive in.
@tinyworldsofwonder3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Karin!! That is awesome!! You can do it! I add a tiny dash from my pump directly into my water. 🥰 For unmounted canvases, I’ve seen people use blue painters tape to tack them onto an easel or painting/drawing board. I think if I had had to finish my first kit ever with the wooden brushes I would never have done another, so I would definitely suggest an upgrade if possible. 🥰 For big areas, using the bigger brush and applying multiple coats usually works well for me. I hope that helps! Courage - you’ve got this!!

@@tinyworldsofwonder Hi Jessica, Ok, I started and have made great progress! So great and a welcome break from Diamond painting. My secret weapon is an amazing brush that the sales person showed me at the Art store. I am using it constantly and would not have been successful without it! 20/0 Nobel 168R (for fine detail) It was just under $3 Canadian and she told me to never ever wash or rinse it with hot water and to use only cold or it will ruin the piece that the brush fits into. I like the art store for advise because they are artists who paint. I realized that I have never used acrylic paint and it is so creamy, smooth and amazing! I did ask Dee at Craft- Ease a couple of questions and she was oh so helpful! I some how used the wrong colour on one of the background trees on the right, but I remembered Dee saying that if you go over the lines or make a mistake it is part of the process and makes the piece unique and your own. Once I realized the tree was the wrong colour, I took a breath, and made it my own and coloured the tree beside it with the paint number that I was supposed to apply to the tree- I just reversed the colours and it looks fine. So that's my painting adventure so far and it is all thanks to you that I have added this craft. Maybe you can post the finished Chaperon Rouge when you finish so I can compare it to mine. I would love to be able to see some of the things you did so I can evaluate how well I did the first time around. I am open for suggestions for my next Craft-Ease in terms of being the next step. Thanks again. P.S Can I use your code every time that I order from them? they gave me the first time user discount, but I told them that I wanted you to be credited because you introduced me to the product and inspired me. Dee is looking into the matter. Fingers crossed.I also wanted to mention that I bought the value pack of brushes form Royal and Langnickel the ones with the turquoise handles for Acrylic, Watercolor and Tempra and it comes with 8 brushes ( Gold Taklon). I have to say, that those particular brushes do not build in success and are too soft and frustrating to use. I find that the flat brush from the kit is better plus the Nobel brush. I think the large Royal brush however will be useful for a very large area and for applying the glaze at the end. FYI no instructions in the box that explain what the clear glaze was for so maybe explain that to your viewers. Dee explained its use and how to apply. A demo from you in the future might be good too.

@@karinswartz3046 I love this! I'm so excited you've made a start and that it's going well! :) Thanks for the advice on the brush - that is awesome! :) I will definitely post some progress updates as I go. :) Mine didn't actually come with clear glaze, so that must be a new addition! Is it a varnish you can apply when you finish perhaps?
@karinswartz30463 жыл бұрын
@@tinyworldsofwonder I assume. it is a type of varnish. It smells kind of milky, but not in a good way, lol. There are two small paint containers of it and it is a clear thick liquid with a touch of a cream colour mixed in. Dee told me that it will make the canvas have a shiny appearance. I was surprise that there was no reference at all to it in the package which is a big oversight that I hope they take into consideration. They really need to add a fine detail brush to the kit. Had I used the brushes included , aside from the flat brush which I really like, a customer would make a mess of the painting. So glad the sales person recommended that brush! I don't seem to have much success using the round tips that are long and raindrop shape. I. would really love you to try out the Nobel brush to see what I mean and hear your thoughts. I have mostly been using that.

Hi, I felt the same way as you! I have to tell you that I finally put my brush on the canvas last night and OMG, what a great experience! Nothing like the awful kits we messed up as kids with the gloppy oil paint! The paint went on smoothly. I am a huge fan of Jessica and totally trust what she says and I swear, it's as fun and easy as she shows on her videos. I am the most uncrafty person and I started Diamond painting because I was searching for a craft that I could actually accomplish from beginning to end. I love diamond painting, however it's believe or not, not as relaxing as paint by number. I would stick to Craft- Ease because their paint and fabric canvas is wonderful. I think all the diamond painting made my hand really steady when applying the paint. As well, the brushes are not like the one brush we got with a kit back in the day. The brushes are precision. I also took a tip from Jessica to outline the area first, start with big areas, work left to right and so on. he suggested Royal brushes 02 round and 03 round which are quite inexpensive. That will make the experience even better. Or a Value pack with those brushes included. I would 100% give it a try if DP is your only craft. It will also give you a bit of a DP break!

Interesting criteria ... but okay. To be honest I don’t really care. 😉 I guess you don’t do affiliate partnerships on your channel? Yesterday we discussed the ability to earn money on KZbin AND be caring and ethical at the same time. So does the ability exist to review products you were comped while ALSO being honest and fair? I hope so since I just spent $85 returning “free” canvases to a company in the EU after realizing their products had quality and copyright issues. Ain’t just anybody getting a review on my channel.
@phillipstroll73853 жыл бұрын
@@tinyworldsofwonder you're right, I don't accept free products on my channel. If I don't buy it I won't review it. I make enough of KZbin, adsense, patron & live streams to never ever accept free mech. There have been times when I accepted a discounted price but those times I did not monetize those videos. However, with that being said, if I enjoyed the product & would continue to use the product, I did monetize other videos with those products being used. I never ever monetize product review videos I didn't buy honestly. I'm not suggesting you shouldn't. By all means follow the leader. I merely stated why I thumbed you down. So you wouldn't take it personally.

@@phillipstroll7385 Well hey, thanks. The thumbs down doesn’t have your name on it, and you certainly ain’t the first. 😉 I monetize these routinely because they’re a crap ton of work, but to each their own. I don’t find anything shady about it, and the impetus to be honest is built into my channel’s reputation. If people buy something and find out it’s crap, what good would that do my channel in the long term? People who are so bendable that they can’t be honest if someone gives them a craft product for free definitely shouldn’t do tutorials like this. 😜
