#3 - Instead of the leader setting each person's place prior to rehearsal, train your team to be able to do it themselves. Mics, cables, direct boxes, music stands - none are hard to learn. Empower your team.

These are solid tips! Being prepared is one of the best ways to tell your team "I value you, your service and your time."

Hey Jake just wanna let you know, I don’t do this sort of thing anymore but really appreciate your advice and encouragement to young worship leaders. Your counsel is spot on.

Fantastic advice! Being the most prepared is something I need constant reminder of. Keep up the great vids!

Interesting tips. I find myself already doing these, without ever seeing your videos before, so I can attest to the importance of having your "act" together. A bad rehearsal time is never something anybody wants, but it does take effort in making sure you have your team with you Sunday when you start playing! Set your team up for success!

What do you do if your leaders say that "Practice is too long". our practices is 2-3 hours. Is that long?

Good tips! What liturgical elements do you guys utilize in between songs?
@Churchfront7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Davin! I often use a call to worship and prayer of confession in worship. But there are all sorts of liturgical elements out there. The Worship Sourcebook is a great resource I use to find liturgical prayers that use modern language people understand. It also does a good job at teaching how to use liturgy. Here is a nother video I made on what to say in between songs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5-8nZp-p7F-gNk

How about adding this one: No family members or friends tagging along, unless they are part of the church/music ministry.

Treat your band members like rock stars? How about we treat them like skilled and gifted ministry leaders who are there to lead and worship God. Just not sure about the "rock star" analogy. Unfortunately, it sounds like someone who thinks the congregation is an "audience". But maybe I'm wrong.
@Churchfront6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you missed the point I'm making. Rock stars as in when they show up to rehearsal they don't need to spend a bunch of time setting up gear and such. It should be plug and play, especially if the worship leader is on staff and has time to prep.
